Description of Work: I had signed a service contract with B&B, upon moving into my house, because they were the company that had installed and serviced the HVAC system for the previous owner (i.e., the seller). What a huge mistake. My first visit, under my one-year service contract, included having an apprentice forget to re-install the circuit breaker properly (he was tasked with washing the AC unit and clearing debris), which required a second visit by another technician. Additionally, in that same initial visit, I dealt with "Isaac", who sold me on a furnace drain cleaning (using compressed air). Well, I paid for the work, and he "completed" the work ... only the work that he did caused a flood in my utility room, which caused water to leak under the wall, and cause a hardwood floor to buckle. Now, as if that was to be the worst of it all, when the second technician responded to the follow-up service call, he performed the same drain cleaning, and I WAS CHARGED A SECOND TIME, even though the second technician was fixing the mess made by Isaac at the first visit (incidentally, the second technician also corrected the electrical gaffe made by the apprentice, which was actually the reason for the follow-up call in the first place). The straw that broke the camel's back (i.e., my back) was when our furnace died on January 3rd. A B&B technician responded to the urgent call -- since it was way below freezing that day, and we had NO heat in the house -- and was able to make some repairs to get the furnace working. To be fair, I knew the furnace was old, and it needed to be replaced sooner, as opposed to later. However, the technician was going to install a new thermostat to get my old furnace working (as a temporary solution), so that we could make an informed decision on replacing our system. Well, when the technician called in to the office to get the approval for the ticket and write up the final work order, he was vetoed, and I was charged $220 for a off-branded (bearing the B&B logo) digital thermostat that used for 1 week and had no use for after that (i.e., my new HVAC system came with it's own, much more advanced unit). I also did not have B&B perform the work on my new system because I was told by the manager that he did not want to discuss replacing the AC unit ("we'll take care of the furnace now, and we won't worry about the AC until the spring"), even though everyone I talked to said that you needed to replace them both at the same time, because you could not run an 19-year old AC unit with a brand new furnace without causing severe problems with the new furnace. To boot, B&B was BY-FAR the MOST expensive price quote that we got for the replacement system. I was told that that was due to the cost of business, insurance for their fleet of vans/technicians, overhead, etc., and that I needed to compare a large company like B&B to other comparable companies. Well, having gotten quotes from Sears, Home Depot, Lowe's, and about three other HVAC companies, I can tell you that B&B came in last, price-wise, by a wide margin. Needless to say, when I was contacted about renewing my service contract this past spring, I asked to be removed from their client list because I would not be continuing my relationship with B&B.
