The provider sends a clearly in-experienced tech who spends 30 minutes trying to figure out the problem. Looks everywhere, resets the appliance several times. Leaves flummoxed with a promise to call back. No call back the next day. Follow up the following day and technician promises to call back in 2 hours. Calls back and says the problem may be in 2 or 3 areas. Will start with fixing the cheapest possible ($218) area first. If that does not work will move to the next area (control board) for another 300 plus dollars. Was clearly performing a read out of a general diagnosis from a manual. The same general dagnosis was available on the internet. Called a different service provider who narrowed down the problem to the temperature probe within 5 mins. Used a simple multimeter like tool to naroow down. Cost of total fix was less than $150. To top it off the owner Neil Kandhari rudely defends his service and blatantly takes an attitude of "I don't care, i need to be paid $45 for showing up". Paid $45 under protest. He was happy to take the money and slam the phone. Incompetent and awful service.

Researched my broken washing machine enough to determine that I had a water pump that was not working. I called Apple and Neal came to service my washer. Neal looked at the machine and determined that the fault was with the connector and not the pump. Considering he was working out of my view, a dishonest repair man could easily have said I had a broken pump and charged me for the $300+ pump. Instead Neal replaced the connector and only charged me for the 1 hour minimum service hour. I will gladly reuse Apple next time I need a repair and will highly recommend them. Thanks, Rob

People usually complain about bad service but there are times that you have to let everyone else know that we still have great, honest, and reliable companies, such as Apple Appliances Repair, who care more about their customers than just the profit. My refrigerator broke a couple of days ago and another company gave me an appointment for a month from now. I am so glad that I chose A.A.R company. They showed up quickly, diagnosed the problem immediately, gave an accurate and honest estimate and finished the job as soon as they got the part. I do recommend this company to everyone and will definitely consider if I need any appliance repair jobs in the future. A+ for the service A+ for the price A+ for the honesty. Thank you.

Neal of Apple Appliance Repair responded within minutes via email and phone to a Friday 6pm request for washing machine and oven repairs. He offered to stop by on his way home to diagnosis repairs and was able to quickly & efficiently complete washing machine repair and offered to return with proper parts for the stovetop the following day all for a reasonable cost! In addition, followup emails was sent confirming repair and next steps. We are totally impressed with Neal & his tech JaPal's service and willingness to go beyond the extra mile to assist! The word will go out to friends and family in Northern Virginia. Great job!‎

It is amazing that Apple Appliance Repair is still in business, as it is just a firm set up around cell phones that was unable to complete the most basic tasks of scheduling service appointments, ordering parts, picking up parts from the local store that they use as their supplier, and installing parts, in a GE microwave oven. Apple Appliance Repair sent out a technician in response to a service request in 2011, through our home warranty company, to fix a microwave oven that was not working. He determined that the magnetron needed to be replaced, and said that he would have the part ordered. After waiting for over a week with no word from them, I called Apple Appliance Repair to check the status. The person who answered their phone was on a cell phone, and could not provide any update. She said that she would have the man who ordered parts call us. More waiting. He never called. Meanwhile, we had resorted to borrowing a counter-top microwave from a friend, as this was dragging on and on. I had to call Apple Appliance Repair again, and eventually I was advised that the part had not been ordered, but they were going to order it, and they would call me when it came in. More waiting. Nobody called. I called them yet again and learned that the part had come in, but nobody had gone to get the part from the local store that they use as their supplier, and nobody had called us to set up an appointment to install the part. The person who answers their phones said that somebody would call us after they picked up the part and set up an appointment to install it. I had to be walk her through the logic that since the part had arrived at their local supplier, they should be able to set up the installation appointment a few days in the future, allowing time to go get the part in the interim. After that discussion, we set up the installation appointment a few days out, and we hoped that would be the end of the issues. But having noted that they were unable to perform even the most basic of functions related to procuring parts and scheduling appointments, we were concerned. The technicians arrived with the part on the appointed day and took the microwave out of the wall. They argued with each other as they worked, and we had the impression that one or both of them seemed to be somewhat inexperienced with the work they were doing. They installed the new part, forced the microwave back into the wall with some difficulty, put a cup of water in it and ran it for a few seconds, collected the $$ deductible on our home warranty coverage, and left. We immediately put something into the microwave to heat it, the unit overheated, and shut itself off. Within five minutes of their departure from our home, we called the technicians on one of their cell phones, and advised them that the microwave was not working, and had shut itself off. Even though they were obviously still very near our home, the technician insisted that they had fixed the microwave, refused to come back, and hung up on us. After that, they would not answer their cell phone. When I called their main number, I was told that someone would call me back to set up another appointment. Nobody called, and at that point we thought it best to give up on them, as we had zero confidence that they could complete the repair successfully. We had to call our home warranty company and tell them what had happened. In addition to overheating and shutting itself off, we noted that after the reinstallation, the microwave was sticking out of the wall a little bit more on one side than on the other side. Our home warranty company had Sears send out a technician to address the problems. The Sears technician said that when the magnetron was replaced and the microwave was reinstalled, one of the wires had not been reconnected, and as a result the microwave fan had not worked. (The fact that the fan was not working should have been readily apparent to the Apple Appliance Repair technicians.) Since the nonoperational fan had caused the microwave to overheat and shut itself off, Sears would not touch it. The overheating process had potentially damaged other parts, and at that point there was too much liability involved in working on it. Since Sears would not work on the microwave, the entire microwave and oven combo (a major appliance) had to be replaced by our home warranty company. We had to go through the whole process of selecting a new microwave / oven combo appliance that would fit into our custom cabinetry. That was difficult, as these appliances change size over time. The list price was about $2,300. Beyond our deductible, the cost was covered by our home warranty company (we are certain that they get a good discount on appliances). But the inconvenience of numerous appointments in this long process, and all the stress involved in this fiasco were problematic for us, and we did not like wasting a good appliance. Once it was successfully installed, the new unit left three screw holes in the wood cabinetry exposed at the top. Addressing that issue was yet another project for us. Apple Appliance Repair at (703) 485-3380 performed a routine repair so badly that it became a major appliance replacement. We would not recommend this company under any circumstances. Before writing this review I confirmed with my home warranty company that the Apple Appliance Repair that they sent to repair our microwave, which ultimately necessitated the replacement of our microwave / oven combo, has the phone number (703) 485-3380. We were not a members of Angie's List in 2011 and this experience was one of the factors that led to our joining Angie's List.
Description of Work: Apple Appliance Repair at (703) 485-3380 was sent by our home warranty company for a repair on our built-in microwave. They ruined the microwave, and the entire built-in microwave / oven combo appliance (list price $2,300) had to be replaced by our home warranty company, using Sears to address the mess made by Apple Appliance Repair.

They price was around $100 more just to get the technician to come to my house and look and diagnose what was wrong with the appliances. They were polite and courteous over the phone. They asked questions as far as what going on. They answered all my questions. They told me when they could schedule me. There wasn’t anything negative about the conversation. I didn’t ultimately choose them. They answered the phone when I called but they didn’t come to my house.

The repairman was relatively friendly. But once he fixes the dryer suddenly the washer didn't work (the washer was fine before he started working on the dryer). I asked if it was a wiring issue with the console he had removed to access the dryer drum. He insisted it must be a broken part in the washer itself. I was very skeptical. And after paying 300 dollars to fix a simple belt I was warty of going down the 'investigative diagnosis' route on a older machine. I thanked him for his time and bought a new machine with an extended warranty.

Originally came on a service call the same day I called, and quicker than they had quoted. He went through several items on my refrigerator analyzing the problem as the water filter assembly needed to be replaced. The original problem was the water from the dispenser was barely providing any water. The technician then stated he would have his office order the part. After several days the part came in the technician came out and replaced it quickly and it works great. They warrantied their work and if the part failed in less then a year, manufacturer's warranty period, they would replace at no additional cost.

It was fine, the guy knew what he was talking about, but the service wasn't cheap. The part is anywhere from $25 to $45 online, so they charged almost 200 bucks for the installation, which is pretty extreme if you ask me. Especially that it took him about 15 minutes to complete. That was also after the Angie's list coupon. Update: The office called me about my review and agreed that the price was high, they offered an additional discount which I thought made the price better so I am updating my review to acknowledge their extra effort to keep their customers satisfied with the service they received.

My refrigerator only 2.5 years old basically exploded on the inside of the freezer. I opened it and all the free-on came rushing out in a cloud and the freezer died. I called apple and they came out within a few hours to check on the fridge and give me an estimate. He said he had never seen this problem before and we were lucky it didn't catch on fire due to the heating element burning up and through the evaporator coil. Because it was an unusual repair he said he would call me the next day. Within 24 hours( more like 12) He called and said it was under warranty through sears. He told me to tell them exactly where to look in the manual to tell them it had a 5 year sealed refrigerant warranty and if I had trouble with them he would call them on 3way with me and explain it to them. the service fee was only $45 half of everyone else. I would definitely call them again in the future .A very reliable and responsible company.

Came out same day as called and charged $40 for a diagnosis of the refrigerator. They diagnosed the problem of the leaking as a shorted out exhaust fan. After $300 and a new part installed they realized there was another part that was causing the problem. They told me they would order the part and not charge labor just the part. Then I did not hear from them again. I called them two weeks later and they told me the refrigerator could not be fixed. There was no explanation of why they did not call me and at least let me know.

There were 2 problem in the Refrigerator Drain pan was Broken and the condenser fan motor not working. We had the part Fan motor to keep the compressor cool or else it will die needed immediate attention so we were asked to replace the part, unfortunately Drain pan is no longer available was informed to the customer but there was some communication and the customer thought we were coming back with the the Pan. If the customer decides to buy a new refrigerator we can always go back and remove our part (fan motor) and do refund for part.

My refrigerator was on its last gasp, barely spitting out cold air when I called Apple Appliance. I was initially put off- when I called the company, a voice just said "Ya, hello," and I had to ask if I had the right place. The speaker was difficult to understand, but I got the gist of what he was saying- they'd have someone out to look at the fridge that evening. Yes, after work! I got a call from the technician before I'd even left work, verifying that he would be there shortly. He pulled the beast out (it's in an enclosure sort of thing), and tinkered with it a bit, then actually explained what he'd done and what he thought the problem was. Freon was leaking, and he explained the process he'd have to use to fix it. He didn't have the right type with him, but he'd check and could probably fix it the next day. In the meantime, he told me it was basically just a big cooler, so I could pack it with ice if I wanted to save what was in it. He came back a day later, fixed the leak. Still wasn't satisfied though, and tinkered some more with it, finally got it fixed. He told me how he repaired it, put the fridge back, advised me to wait a bit before turning the ice maker back on. I had to go check on the dog, and when I got back he had my mop out and was even cleaning up the floor! Definitely customer oriented, and very professional. Highly recommended. Oh! And the initial trip charge was deducted from the repair cost, which was a bonus.
Description of Work: Inspected the fridge, hypothesized that a freon leak was causing it's non-coldifying condition, gave me advice for a temporary quick fix, came back later and fixed it, then even mopped up the floor afterward.
