American Windows & Siding

This review is a bit overdue. Had new doors and windows installed in early 2021. I had a very good experience with this company and with Mr. Edward Dunn. He was very prompt in answering all my questions and also patient as he worked with me while I tried to decide among the various options for doors and windows. I felt he offered me very fair and reasonable prices compared to some other quotes I received. Am especially grateful for him even considering my business since my order was quite small, and I have been finding that, esp. during COVID times, many companies won't consider the 'smaller jobs.' There were a few problems during installation (one wrong window size, flaw in a door screen), but Mr. Dunn promptly addressed these and everything was resolved to my satisfaction. I absolutely love my new windows and doors. Oh and the installers were fantastic. Really nice guys. Did outstanding, beautiful work and didn't leave a mess. I am all around very, very happy I chose this company.

I began my windows replacement project by contacting two bidders, both highly rated on Angie’s List. American Windows & Siding patiently helped me learn the terminology and, especially, what to look for in quality windows. I subsequently submitted a draft Statement of Work specifying the models and colors for the 17 windows. Their ensuing proposal captured all that I was after, and though its price was initially high, a generous Angie’s List discount brought it in line with their competitor’s bid. Both AWS and their competitor offer high quality windows, but not identical ones. Each window has its advantages over the other, and I ended up selecting the competitor’s windows based on small differences that were important to me. (Other customers could easily come to the opposite decision depending on what’s important to them.) I felt no pressure to set up a site visit or to rush to a contract — something I value in a provider. I would highly recommend American Windows & Siding to others considering replacing their windows.

Well. on time, neat and professional.

It went really well. They came and did what they said they were gonna do. It took a while though because of the odd shape of the wall and they were able to do that with some trial and errors and we are very happy with it. People also commented on it. They seem to take on the challenge without any concern. It was a lot of work for them but they still took them on. We are very happy because we don't think anybody could do that work. They were very particular in getting it right.

Exceptional work, high quality, gorgeous windows and all finished surfaces, totally professional and courteous work crew, and superb project manager. I am so pleased the outcome of this project. I ordered 12 vinyl replacement windows (including a garden window in the kitchen) after researching thoroughly and receiving several quotes. I chose this company due to their highly favorable reviews from review sources and their top ratings and the beautiful, top quality windows they offer. (While many people dislike vinyl windows for their appearance, the windows this company offers would likely change their minds - they are elegant and simply beautiful.) My project manager is exceptional - very courteous, knowledgeable, supportive, and professional. He came out to my house and did a thorough inspection of my windows, sills, frames, etc. He was not pushy at all while explaining what he and his company can do and answering all my questions. He provided an estimate on the spot (and held to his estimate all the way through to completion of the project). I also asked him about several other areas around the house where the wood was rotting. He included these areas in the estimate without additional charge. Windows arrived on time (about 6 weeks after I ordered them), were installed in less than 8 hours, look so beautiful, and are very well priced. (This was actually the low bid and especially good considering the additional work I needed.) Quality of work by installation team exceeded my expectations. They are true craftsmen as reflected by the beautiful work they did on the outside window frames and flawless operation of the windows. And the team went the extra mile providing the additional services with just as high quality of craftsmanship. They cleaned up all debris, swept outside areas, and vacuumed inside areas all with the utmost courtesy and respect. I highly recommend this company and will be hiring them again next year to complete my window replacement project on the entire house.

Low-pressure, very knowledgeable sales interaction with Charlie Gunn. Very reasonable price on the Sunrise Restorations window line and features desired. Installation crew did an excellent job replacing all 16 windows in our three-story brick townhouse. A quality installation with attention to details: leveling, caulking, and capping. Crew shaped capping to preserve many of historic details of the wood trim - not your quick-and-dirty L-capping installed by some companies. The crew was respectful of our outdoor plants as well as our neighbor's property during installation and did an excellent job of cleaning up after themselves. I certainly would recommend American Windows & Siding of Virginia to others.

We had a great experience with them. We needed new windows, siding, trim, and a storm door. Our estimator/project lead was Brad, he was very easy to work with, was very responsive over email, and came by multiple times to answer questions and finalize styles/colors. No pressure or sales gimmicks. Both the window crew and the siding crew did a great job, and we were really impressed with the final result. Highly recommended!

This company is top notch from start to finish. All the staff that I worked with from Ben to the workmen who installed the door were truly exceptional. This company provided a very competitive quote and the installation process went perfectly. The quality of their work is exceptional. Everyone that I worked with also went the extra mile to answer my questions and ensured that I had a great customer service experience. I couldn't be happier and hope to work with them again on a future project.

Very well in every aspect. Couldn't be more pleased with everything, from Gary Tobin, the salesperson who explained everything including my options in great detail and quoted me the lowest price among the various estimates, to the large, experienced crew who came and completed the job in three hours, and the supervisors who came to double-check the work. I love my new windows and if I knew how quick and painless the whole process would be, I would have done it sooner!!

The project went well. There were some initial delays due to a backlog of work associated with bad weather in the fall, but the project manager kept us informed about the status of the work, and once a final date was established the crew arrived promptly and worked as long as it took to get the entire job, 23 windows and 1 door, done in a single day. They cleaned up thoroughly after the work was completed. They offered a variety of options and we opted for their higher quality replacement product. We have been very satisfied with the results.

I highly recommend this company. The two-man crew did a great job on installation with excellent craftsmanship and good cleanup afterward. The door itself is also great - looks great and slides smoothly.

Not well. A salesman arrived for our consultation and seemed very upset that he had been asked by his company to visit our home. He complained that he got the job at the last minute and that he was meant to only be in the Rockville area. We were shocked to hear this, as we certainly did not disguise our address. He seemed disinterested in hearing the nature of our needs at first, but after about half an hour started to display more professionalism and began to share ideas about how the job would be done. He was supposed to get back to us with an estimate; we never heard from him again. To this day, neither he nor the company has contacted us and it is weeks later. I fear we were the victims of discrimination. Should Angie's list allow companies to use its services that practice discrimination?

Professional and efficient work. Installers were very polite. Quite pleased with new windows.

If you're looking for true professionals who are reliable, competent, competitive and most importantly honest, look nowhere else for a window replacement company. In addition to windows replacement, Ben, Sam and his team performed two new cutouts to install two new windows in the family room and helped us throughout the process to apply for a permit. From start to finish, the team went the extra mile in making sure everything is done to perfection. We highly recommend them! They're a cut above others.

Last week just before the big wind storm, American Windows and Siding installed Sunrise Restoration replacement windows and ProVia doors throughout our home. Their Project Manager, Ben Beltran, was both expeditious and thorough in developing a detailed plan that met all our customized requirements on time and at a fair price with flawless results. We were able to take advantage of off season pricing and work around lost days due to weather conditions to get the job done in 30 days from date contract was signed to completion. The new windows and doors made a big difference in moderating temperatures and muffling the noise from the storm. In December of 2009 Mr. Edward Dunn, the president of American Windows & Siding of VA, Inc. installed 18 Sunrise replacement windows and 2 Sunrise replacement sliding glass doors with lifetime warranties and a 10 year labor warranty. Additionally I had him reside my house. In January 2017 I noticed that the caulk was pulling away from the windows and there was some minor water stains by one of the sliding glass doors. I contacted Ed and sent him pictures of the windows. He promptly arranged to come out and look a the windows and doors. He took one look and immediately agreed to do what ever was necessary to fix the issues. While he was there I also showed him some siding discoloration by the front door and he immediately agreed to have it fixed. For the next nine months he worked around my schedule to get his people out to fix the problems. On the 23rd of May his crew showed up to replace the damaged siding. They were extremely professional. They not only replaced the small area of discolored siding, they walked around the house and repaired everything else they could find that needed to be fixed (loose nails, a new shutter, missing hole plugs, etc.). Then in October of 2017, this crew came in and removed all the caulk on the windows and doors and re-caulked, and he replaced the sill-plate of one of the sliding glass windows and installed a custom drain pan to ensure there would be no more water seepage under the door. All of this with no muss or fuss. I cannot say enough about the professionalism of the people at American Windows & Siding of VA, Inc.. Mr. Dunn is a man of honor who stands by his word and I would not hesitate to recommend him or his company!

They came out, measured & fixed the window at what I believe to be a very, very fair price. They called me to set up the appointments & arrived on time. They were quick, but not hurried, they did the job and cleaned up afterwards. They are my go-to window repair. Oh, they did not try to 'upsale' me on anything. Much appreciated.

Excellent. I just love my windows. I am very happy with my decision. I did good amount of research about windows, read tons of customer reviews, then selected several companies to meet. I had very nice interviews with those companies. American Windows & Siding of VA gave me good impression, the competitive price, and confidence in my decision. The appraiser, Mr. Dunn, the company president, explained his products very well and answered all my questions precisely. I could see that he took care of customers very well and had pride in his product. His team of installers impressed me, too. Their work was efficient, quiet, and clean. Everything was beautifully done. I am confident to recommend this company to all my friends who want new windows.

We had used American Windows & Siding of VA a year earlier to replace 14 bathroom windows. Just three months ago, we needed to replace four wooden doors which had been rotting. We solicited bids from three companies and found American Windows to be very competitive in their pricing and options for door replacement. After the order was placed, the four steel legacy Provia doors (and three Sunrise Restoration windows) were installed just one month later. The entire job was completed in one day and, once again, the installation team did a fantastic job. We LOVE our new doors and windows! Again, I wouldn't hesitate to hire American Windows & Siding of VA for not only window replacement, but doors as well.

I contacted and received bids from 5 companies for replacing and installing 14 windows for two bathrooms we were in the process of renovating. While American Windows was not the cheapest bid, they were not the most expensive. I was confident that they offered superior products compared to their competition. More importantly, it was an absolute pleasure working with Charlie Gunn. He helped us narrow down the different brands of windows we were considering. We went to the office/warehouse where he showed and described the pros and cons of the windows. Phil Brown also worked well with me on scheduling the job. The installation crew was efficient, neat, and did a fantastic job. The job was completed in one day. I would highly recommend American Windows & Siding!

Fantastic! These guys are very well priced and very reliable and honest. They put in all new windows and wrapped the wood on my house in vinyl a few years ago. I called them back for the new front door and they hit a home run again.

Great customer service. No hard sell. Door took awhile to come in that's the only reason I gave a "B" grade but I think it was the manufacturer. Great company. Worked with my schedule.

We had a 12 year old garden window which had been leaking for years. I didn't realize it had been leaking until it got in really bad shape and was dripping water. Ed, one of the owners was pleasant to deal with on the phone, and sympathetic with our problem. He suggested a Sunrise window, which he said would never give us a problem and has a lifetime warranty. We got a good price, including some custom features I wanted. The crew was in front of our house a few minutes early and went to work right on time. They were careful to keep our house clean, using shoe covers and tarps. When a tarp got dirty, they rolled it up and put down a new one. Our house stayed completely clean and dry, even though it started to rain half way through the installation. The window looks great and so does all the trim they used around the window, inside and out. The entire crew, four men, was professional and courteous. We are very happy with the new window.

It was great. They were fast, timely, and kept the house clean. We're thrilled with the windows and Mike was a true professional. He really steered us right to get better quality windows that didn't break the bank of have us paying for things we didn't need.
