Bryan and his team are true professionals and did a fantastic job. All the work they did was done to code, and any little issues were attended to with care. Their company is automated also so all appointments were confirmed with emails and texts. And they were friendly and courteous at all times and took photo of ALL work (before and after). The only tiny negative was, sometimes they were a bit hard to get hold of, but that's just because they are in high demand due to the first-tier services they provide. Sometimes, if you want good contractors you have to wait a bit. I would (and plan to) use them again on my other property.

Brian was excellent at explaining why I was getting a smoke smell in my house even though smoke was going up the chimney. I just have an older (50s) house, and the chimney flue was cracking - something that happens with mortar! He gave a detailed estimate with no heavy sales pitch. I had kind of thought that I would need this work, so had an idea of the cost, and they were right in the ballpark. Not cheap, but not expensive - and I don't mind paying for quality! They did have to postpone the work once, but apologized and let me know with a few days notice - not something most places do, so I really appreciated that! Too few companies forget about customer service - not Bethesda Chimney! My biggest criticism - but it's not much! - is that they left the door open whenever they went in and out. It was perfectly understandable when they had a hose going into the house, but not when there wasn't a hose (or anything else) keeping them from closing the door. They did the work timely and left the house clean! I can't wait to use my fireplace again!

NOV 2018: Update to my previous post: we had an unexpected problem with our chimney, and calling Bethesda Chimney to check it out was a no brainer. Even though they were really busy with existing projects, they were able to quickly and competently assess what was wrong and come up with a timely solution. They also fit us into their schedule as soon as the custom part for our fireplace chimney was made, even though it was clear they had a full plate already. Installed and cleaned up without a trace, and had before/after photos to show me how it all turned out. If you give Bethesda Chimney a try, I bet you'll become a loyal customer as well.

What a great experience with Bethesda Chimney. We scheduled them to inspect and clean our chimney (if necessary). Bryan called and said he could come early. That was great. When he arrived, he was carrying shoe covers, which was much appreciated. He inspected the chimney and found that it was not ready for a cleaning. Rather than charging me, he just asked me to call him back when we are ready to have it cleaned. He was extremely knowledgeable, explaining tricks for how to get the chimney to vent better given the size of the fireplace. He even played with our cat. This experience really stood out as great, start to finish. If you need someone to inspect, clean or repair your chimney, I strongly recommend Bryan and his team at Bethesda Chimney.

Bryan, Matt and their team did a great job relining our chimney. They were totally professional, clean and efficient (& this was one dirty job!). I'd recommend them to anyone.

Everything went well. I decided to contract with Bethesda Chimney based on their reviews and my meeting with Bryan. My AC died and we needed to have a chimney liner installed at the same time as the new HVAC system. Bethesda Chimney was able to schedule their end of the install while GAC was here to put in the system. Bethesda arrived as promised and the guys were great! Thank you Bryan and Matt for working me into the schedule so quickly. I would definitely recommend this company.

Very fast response to my request for a quote. Came out the cheapest from 4 requests sent out. Bryan gave me few possible dates/times ranges they can do the work at. They arrived on time and performed the work quickly and as far as i can tell very well too. Bryan gave me some recommendations for further needed maintenance as well. Overall I appreciate reasonable price, fast communication and quality of their work.

Great service from start to finish! Don't let the name fool you! They do more than chimneys. Our kitchen ceiling was leaking. We thought we had a backed-up/clogged gutter after a lot of rain. We couldn't find any gutter companies to help us on short notice. Turns out it wasn't a gutter at all but a slow-dripping pipe in the kitchen ceiling - below an upstairs bathroom. The two-man team showed up as promised. They ruled out the gutter as the source of the leak. While up on the roof, they spotted a hole and some missing shingles, fixed it and quickly determined the problem was elsewhere INSIDE the house. They cut out parts of the water-damaged ceiling. Efficient, methodical, minimal debris. They found and repaired the leaking pipe (even taking photos with an iPhone), patched the ceiling and repainted it. Looks like new. 48 hours from start to finish. And yes, the price was reasonable, given all the work that was done. You don't have to have a chimney problem to get great service from Bethesda Chimney.

The team was excellent from start to finish! Everyone was great to work with and they let us know what we needed to do to ensure a longer lasting fire pit. Bryan and Becca in the office are great and Miguel and his team of masons were very meticulous and you could tell they did the job as if they were working on their own home! Would absolutely recommend them and am looking forward to having them come again to do chimney maintenance for us

After the earthquake 7 years ago, I had to replace the top of my chimney. At the time I didn't realize that there was damage to the interior of the chimney as well as the top. I hired Bethesda Chimney to install a chimney liner and to fix the damper for my fireplace after Bryan did an estimate and carefully explained what needed to be done as well as why. Roman and Mauricio were the two men who came to do the task. They were able to meet that challenge efficiently and carefully. Afterwards, I asked Brian to come to check on the gas pilot for the fireplace. He came promptly and also let me know if I had any additional questions he would be happy to return to help. I highly recommend Bethesda Chimney for their friendly, efficient work and service.

Very pleased to have had Bethesda Chimney help me out. They made a tough situation workable. Note: I have never left a review on Angie's List before and I was a member when you still had to pay for it! I was in a time-crunch situation when I found Bethesda Chimney: selling my home and needing a chimney inspection of 2 chimneys within 72 hours. Bryan Whitaker's team scheduled me right away for an inspection. While onsite, it was clear we needed a master plumber to inspect the situation and Bryan had a fast connection to one he trusted--that fellow also turned up promptly to assess the situation. All in all, the work was assessed--in a couple of different ways-- and I was able to decide which pathway to take. Though weather got in the way of the work getting underway as originally planned, Bryan came out to my house on a Saturday to make sure the job was done in time for my home settlement. It was a BIG DEAL! He uses technology very well and kept me informed throughout the process. He also worked well with my realtor, who had to stand in for me a couple of times. There were no surprises whatsoever: Bethesda Chimney delivered what was promised --and sent me "before and after" images so I could see the completed work. It was beautiful--even my neighbors noticed and got in touch with me to ask who to call for their masonry work. All in all, a very positive experience with a contractor.

Great - Brian took photos and showed me the before and after. He also cited that the company who installed our wood stove and chimney liner made some critical mistakes and needs to correct these problems ASAP. Thanks to Brian, we have explicit pictures of these errors and an explanation of how things should be corrected and brought up to code. Bottom line, I'll never use anyone else for this service.

Bethesda Chimney Services were exceptional!! Yes, they were running few minutes late but we’ve received a courtesy call. Came to our house to inspect the chimney, showed us pictures of how badly it needed cleaning and showed us pics how perfect and ready for use the chimney is now! Will be using them again! Everyone I worked with, from scheduling inspection to the performing work was professional. This was no easy job. The worker were diligent, hard working, and thorough. I now have a safe chimney with a new easy to use flue.

AMAZING! You must hire this guy! Super motivated, young, technology-connected business. Provided objective, fact-based analysis of all chimney/fire systems, complete w/ digital photos (emailed also) of current internal chimney condition. All paperwork was electronic. Do NOT be intimidated by the name "Bethesda" as he will travel to anywhere in the DMV, and NOT charge the "Bethesda" mark-up. I've found my chimney service for life!
