They were very nice and I thought their price was very reasonable.

I would not recommend them. I really felt like they were trying to railroad me into upgrading to a new system rather than just dealing with the problem that I had. That should have been fixed pretty easily under the warranty that I was purchasing already. I thought the price was fine.

They are great. They were recommended to me actually by somebody at work and we checked them out and they came over. Our air conditioning heating went out in the winter time and we had a contract with other company, but they said it would be like a week before they got to it so we called Vernon and they came out the next day. They were on time and spent the whole day explained everything to us. We would use them again probably to replace our water heater.

According to the Vernon technician, they work on a commission and are awarded for selling systems to customers. For those who need new systems this should not be a problem. But for those of us who do not ... this is not the company for you.

I was having a problem with my heat pump system not coming on and while I was pretty sure teh problem was electrical it was recommended that I ensure that the existing equipment had not been damaged. I used Vernon because they had installed the system. The technician arrived within the prescribed time period and I received a phone call to inform me of the pending arrival. I appreciated that the technician covered his shoes on entering the house even as he had to go back and forth to the eexterior several times. He did determine that the disconnect was the problem and installed two new fuses which were covered by the cost of the service call. He did complete a full inspection of my heat pump equipment and determined that the defrost panel also needed to be replaced. While I feel they are qualified to do the work the cost of doing the work seemed excessive. They wanted to charge almost $600 to replace the disconnet, this is a $12 part at home depot and about 1 hours' labor. This is high voltage so I'm willing to pay a professional a to do it but this seemed ecxessive. I had an electrician come out an do it for half the cost (which is still to high in my opinion). The cost for replacing the deforst panel was also too much. They wanted $800 (okay techincally $795) to replace teh defrost panel and I declined that repair as well untl I could get competitive pricing. It truns out it only a $90 part and I can probably shwitch it out myself, it's a plug and play component. Of course in addition to the repairs he also tried to sell me a whole new system PLUS their maintenance membership. My unit is 15 years old so it should have a good 5 years of life expectancy in it. Plus my options were $1400 in repairs or $7700 for a whole new system? The last time I had the unti serviced the technician told me it was a good unti and not to let anyone sellme a new one.

After being told by two other companies that I needed a new boiler system for between $9,000 and $12,000, Vernon's guy came in, took a look for about 15 mins and said, your gas regulator is broken. Everything else looks good. He got a part estimate with a phone call and then provided me with a total repair estimate of $1,573. I said, and quot;Sold.and quot; He placed the order for the part, make a temporary fix to the broken regulator so my wife would stop complaining about the house having no heat, and about three days later he came back to do the final repair, saving me several thousand dollars. I was pleased with his honesty and integrity, as well as his professionalism and the way he went about doing the job (neatly and organized). And certainly I'm pleased with the money he saved me. When the system finally goes they will be the first ones I'll call.

Their service was good and they were flexible in scheduling appointments. They were informative and showed me what was going on; they showed me the condition of my air ducts. They were clean and cleaned up after themselves. I was working at home the day they were here and they tried to be as unobtrusive as possible. They were very courteous and arrived at the scheduled appointment time. I have used them for about 10 years; in the past they installed 2 new heat pumps.

I scheduled a seasonal preventative maintenance on my heating/air conditioner. I was told they would arrive between 9am and noon. No one came. When I called them I was repeatedly put on hold. When I asked to speak to a manager I was passed to her voice mail. The manager called me back and said that the appoinment didn't make their schedule and that I should schedule another appoinment. I declined and instead will work with a more reliable company in the future.

On installation, copious amounts of attic dust contaminated the air in my house until I discovered there were several holes in the housing unit, located in the attic. These were taped over by the company and the unit performed well for six years, until a and quot;stinky sockand quot; smell came out of the vents. The smell was mold contamination. The company told me they did not remedy and quot;mold problems,and quot; and that was my responsibility. I spent a great deal of money on mold experts, and finally an experienced contractor from another company showed me that, per the installation manual, the wrong pipe had been installed to drain the air handler, and this had caused water to back up inside the unit, where mold was growing in the insulation. (Earlier I had reported mold growth around one vent, which the company promptly repaired by sealing the vent more thoroughly). Another problem, as explained to me by an aiir duct expert from the board of the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA), whom I hired to assess mold contamination of the ducts, was that the variable air system should have been set on automatic, with some down time, otherwise water would pool inside the unit. The company technician had always told me to run the system continuously, in order to keep mold levels low inside my house, and he failed to detect the water overflow and mold problem inside the air handler, until it was too late. The entire system had to be ripped out due to the contamination, and was a total loss after only six years.

They helped us get the energy rebate. They have a large staff of well trained and knowledgeable service people. They have also done extensive sub zoning in our house which has made a huge difference. They are expensive but worth it. if they make a mistake, they will fix it with no charge.

These folks have cared for our HVAC system since 1995. Installers, servicing technicians, and their supervisors have always been responsive, prompt, and professional. Consistently, all Vernon staff are pleasant and polite, Servicing technicians and installers are excellent educators and look after a customer's system as if it were their own. While there are numerous members of the Vernon staff who deserve special recognition, Dave Long is at the top of the list. Most recently,in the process of selling our home in Virginia, he helped us address a private home inspection whose author was unfamiliar with local HVAC code. Mr. Long sent technicians to verify that the installation, indeed, met code (which, of course, it did) and arranged for Arlington County to verify in writing that the installation met County codes. He remained good-natured through all our many phone calls, making absolutely sure that we had the paperwork we needed. Without his advice, assistance, and unfailing good humor, the sale of our house would have been even more challenging. HVAC systems need regular inspections for efficiency and safety. They also need new components on a regular basis and those components are expensive. Use Vernon to assure that any work is done by professional, polite, efficient, and honest personnel.

Their professionalism is outstanding. Their service is outstanding. Every dealing that I have had with the company has been nothing but outstanding. I have recommended them to my colleagues and my friends and they had the same experience. I would use their service in the future too.

They did a really good job. We had a very good experience with them. They will be coming out again next week to install a part. We have a contract with them where they come out twice a year and do all the maintenance for the upcoming season. They do it for both heating and air-conditioning. They call us to tell us about our annual service. We then call them to get it scheduled, and they come out. I definitely trust them. Every time someone has come out we have found him to be extremely knowledgeable about the unit. It might not be the same person that comes out every time, but they seem to be very well-trained. If they think they can replace a part rather than replace the entire unit they would go for that. They try to save us as much money as they can. I'm pretty impressed with that.

It was an expensive job; Vernon Heating and Air Company charged me over $500. I thought they were pricey to be honest. They said they replaced a voltage regulator but all they had replaced was a capacitor. I know a little bit about electronics and I know the difference between a capacitor and a voltage regulator. I also know that a capacitor is a lot less expensive. They have a fixed price list and not just an hourly charging. They charge for whatever parts they use. They didn’t have a capacitor on the fixed price list so we had to go to the next thing which was a voltage regulator. I thought that the list was kind of a scam thing. I wasn’t too happy. I reviewed the bill after they left and realized that they overcharged me. The actual technician from the company seemed to know what he was doing. He was very well trained and informative. He did diagnose the situation and it did fix the problem. It wasn’t the technician’s fault that he had to go by that list of items. The problem solving ability and knowledge of the technician is good. However it gets a little questionable when it comes down to the bottom line of how they fix the problem and what they charge. I ended up getting a service contract with them. I don’t know if it was a mistake or not. I guess I’m locked into using them when I need them so time will tell. I think my unit will have to be replaced eventually as it is not performing to its peak efficiency and it is getting old.

We used them because they had put in our original furnace, and we also have had a service contract with them. They are very thorough, good and timely. Everything about them has been good - we have had no complaints. They are pricier but they have always done a good job. I think it is going to end up being around $11,000 with the tax credit. When they were here, they were all very good, in that they probably went beyond the call of duty on some of the things, like things that I didn’t ask for; they uncovered and decided to do a couple of things for me that probably should have been fixed 20 years ago. We would continue to use them in the future.

After not having success with the company that originally fixed the leak, Vernon was called. It was one of the first really hot weeks of the summer and the repairman came at the end of his very long day. It was about 7 PM and he had been working all day but was one of the most pleasant repairment I have ever had. When he left he even gave me his personal cell number and said to call him if it stopped working as he lived close by and could come quickly. The only negative was the price - it was much more than we were going to pay with the other company, but at least I feel like it was fixed correctly!

called on Saturday and not available until Monday unless we wanted to pay extra emergency fee. They arrived almost 2 hours after the 8am to 2pm window I was given despite fact that I called and said I have 9 month old infant and temp was in the 80s to 90s. (We camped out in our finished basement where it was cool for 2 1/2 days.) Tech had greasy hair and was covered in tattoos. He claimed float switch was tripped (It wasn't, there was another problem we paid another company to fix correctly 1 week later when AC died again.) He refilled our refrigerant and for that charged a ridiculous fee of 600 bucks! Not a great experience for the money paid.

We've been using Vernon's for 20+ years but I'm not sure why other than they used to live down the street. They are hugely expensive compared to others (we compare notes with friends and neighbors). And the repair guys ALWAYS try to sell you something new -- be it a service or item of equipment. You never really know if you need it or not. My most recent experience with the furnace does it for me, but I'm kinda stuck since my warranty is with Vernon's.

Very professional, friendly, clean, and knowledgeable staff. They came when they said they would, ready to work (with permits pulled and all parts), and they were done on time. They have service plans that guarantee free same-day service visits as well as annual maintenance and inspection. Two issues prospective Vernon customers should be aware of, although they didn't affect the grade I gave them: 1. Their "after hours" emergency service only goes from 8am to 10pm, not 24-hour like some firms. This is clearly marked on their website and here on Angie's list. The night after the installation, we arrived home at 10:30pm to find the new boiler had stopped firing, and had to endure a very cold night until they could call us back in the morning. But then they dispatched a tech right away, and he found the problem, got it working again, and stayed to test all the possible thermostat cycles. 2. They didn't offer any choices among boilers (and I didn't think to ask). We learned later that if we had bought a more efficient boiler, we could have gotten a federal tax credit that, together with fuel savings, would have covered the difference in price. But when your heat fails in December, keeping the family warm is first priority.

We are not completely happy with them. There was a part of the AC resting outside the AC unit. They told us that it will be covered under the contract. But later they told us that it was ready to go and did not cover it. The Freon in the AC had a problem and the coils were ruptured. They told us that it would cost us $1800. Nobody told us that this would not be covered. We spoke to them extended the warranty by paying $800 so that this would be covered. I do not know if they were right or now. However, they were professional.

I had a very good experience with them until the last couple of years. They could not come out when we wanted them to. They gave good advice on servicing. Their pricing was a bit high.

They completed a $30,000 heating air conditioning upgrade to my house on time and to my satisfaction. I will continue to use them in the future and would highly recommend them.

I'm not sure they offer the best prices but don't really have anything to compare it with but they provide good service and we have been happy with them.

We have a service contract with this company. They offer packages that includes free service calls and discounts on parts and labor. We have used them for several years. A few years ago, our a/c unit broke and they were the only company that would come out on that 4th of July weekend.

I am very happy with Vernon's services. I have been using them for five years now and I would not change them out for anything. I love everything about this company as the workmanship, the prices and the quality of service are all top notch.
