VERNON HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING

Description of Work: I have not used Vernon since 2012. They were my major vac provider since 1995when they replaced my outside condenser damaged by lightning. They also replaced my heater several years later with a neutrons system. For years I considered them to be excellent even though they were unable to | | To provide a hvac system that would do the entire house. In the summer the system would never provide cooling that would provide temperatures below 80. In 2013 I contracted with McCarthy services and for the first time in over 20 years the cooling system cools all the home to any temperature including at or below 70 degrees.

Description of Work: We have an annual contract with them for under $200. We bi-annual checkups on HVAC system and quick response if something goes wrong.

Description of Work: I've been with them for about 20 years, bought TWO furnaces and AC units. They've recently discontinued Saturday appointments for the maintenance check up. Everyone WORKS. If I weren't planning to move, I'd cancel my maintenace agreement and ask for a refund.

Description of Work: We pay a monthly fee and are entitled to an air conditioner and furnace inspection yearly. During the inspection, they always find something wrong with the work that was done by the last one of their own technicians that was there and there is always a repair and always the recommendation of a new furnace or air conditioner, so you never know when to believe them. This time the technician was very polite and seemed capable. Of course there were more repairs and $250 for cleaning the air conditioner coils outside. He said that someone would call to schedule the work in a few days. Nobody ever called. After about three weeks I called to schedule the appointment and explained that I worked, that it would be better if the appointment was late in the day or after 4pm when my husband could be home. They told me that they didn't have anything that late and that the job would take 3 hrs, so they would schedule the work from 12-3. At about 2:30, I called and asked if I had the wrong day. The customer service person was very rude and said that the "window" for the workman to show up was 12-3. I said that nobody had ever mentioned a "window" and that most companies called and narrowed it down the night before or the morning of the repair. He pretty much called me a liar about what I was told. I decided I would leave if they weren't there by 3:10. At 3:20, they called and said that it would be his next stop. I told him, "Well, I'll wait, but I don't have to use you again". Then he said "Lady, I don't know what you are upset about - we told you 12-4 and we are calling you now, aren't we?" The technician came at close to 4. I would not have had to take off from work at all. He was polite and did the work he was supposed to. There are lots companies that are polite, prompt and capable. The fact that the "inspection" always turns up a problem with the work they did before does not inspire confidence and I have never been talked to so rudely by a customer service person.

Description of Work: This work was done Nov. 2005. |Replacement of the furnace/AC system. N/A on the price because I didn't do any price comparisons. |From installation until the house was sold Feb. 2014, the system performed perfectly, and I assume it is still doing so. In my opinion they did an excellent job.

Description of Work: Over the years, they performed very poor routine maintenance and Icontinued to tolerate them ., even though I thought I was being overcharged for 3 rd rate service. When I finally switched to another provider, the extent of their inadequacies and sloppy workmanship as well as hard sell tactics became even more abundantly clear . I am so glad not to have to deal with them any longer

Description of Work: Installed new Heat Pump. Always responsive to calls, courteous and careful. Have |used Vernon for over 25 years and have always been satisfied with their service.

Description of Work: Called to diagnose/service AC unit that was not working, accurately and professionally recommended a new system. This part they got right, as it was clearly rusted out and at 15 years old leaky and obsolete. However, they gave me a quote for a replacement new system which was WAY overpriced. Tried to convince me it was a good deal, and I guess figured I wouldn't shop around since AC was broken. Anyway, I did shop around and got and estimate the next day from a highly rated competitor who beat their price by over $3K. Obviously, I had the other provider install the new system and am completely overjoyed with the service level and quality AND price!

Description of Work: Complete air duct cleaning was done. They sealed all the vents then cleaned them one at a time. Very professional and thorough. Other companies may be cheaper but none will do as good of a job.

Description of Work: At a regular checkup their tech reported that we had major problems and needed a new system. His bid to do this was high so I called other companies, both of which said the system was fine. (It is still working well.) When I talked to their service manager she said that our contract was now void bewcause I had other people "work" on it. | |I probably should have reported them for fraud but at my age (then 84)didn't want the fuss. | |I still have the papers showing their findings" and bid. | |
