Description of Work: Representative from the company came to the house and took measurements for tear down of an existing sunroom and deck and replacing with new. Said that he would call by the end of the week. When no return call from him by 12/23/2014 I called and left a message asking if he was still interested in the job and have still heard nothing.

David Huff renovated an unfinished basement into a TV theater room with a snack bar, a home office area with a computer station , and a utility room with a laundry area. This whole project involved insulation of all walls, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC for our comfort. Mr. Huff's crews completed the walls and ceiling with absolute perfection. After working with several contractors over our 30 year experience in construction projects we vote David Huff as our 5 star best ever contractor. We found Mr. Huff to listen carefully to our details, to suggest possible alternatives, and to remember the decisions. He was able to grasp the project from concept to finish. The renovation took only 8 weeks counting the time waiting for county permits. With all projects there are some changes, but with Mr. Huff the words always were "no problem - - we can do it". It was such a pleasure to have things done without some kind of disagreement. His crews are always on time every morning, polite and respectful to our family, and they broom clean every night before leaving. We liked that David Huff was on site every day with his crews.

The first thing I did was to write a Statement of Work. I wrote exactly what work I wanted done. I measured and gave the approximate square footage for each area. I checked Angie's list and found Huff Construction. I called and left a message. David Huff called back right away and we made an appointment for him to come out and look at the work I wanted done. David Huff showed up at the time agreed to and read over my Statement of Work. We then looked at the basement and Mr. Huff measured and wrote things down. We went over the job in detail and shared ideas on what I wanted done and what he could do. I told him it was important to not penetrate our existing B-dry waterproofing system he said no problem and showed me how he would frame the walls. He was genuinely interested in the project. I called 2 other contractors; one gave a quote of $30K and another wanted $125 just to look at the job and provide an estimate (I said no thanks! to both contractors). Huff construction?s estimate was within the estimate I developed. I contacted Huff construction and said I wanted to move forward with the job. Huff e-mailed a formal estimate with all the work written down and the payment terms. I had special financing from my bank, Huff worked with me on the financing terms. Before the work was started, the contractor installed a plastic sheeting barricade to prevent dust from coming upstairs. The contractor put plastic sheeting over my property in the basement to protect from dust. One the first day, he came out with his full crew and they framed up all the walls and did what he said he was going to do. All the walls were framed up without a single nail penetrating the b-dry waterproofing system. The contractor received all the necessary permits from the county and the work was inspected by a county inspector at different points through-out the job. The work proceeded at a steady pace in the next coming weeks. The contractor clean-up the jobsite after each day. David Huff is a good communicator and responded to my phone calls and e-mails in the same day or the very next morning. Very timely responses. David Huff was onsite most of the time where I could just go and talk to him. He asked if the work looked good and if there was anything I didn?t like to please tell him. He explained what they were doing and gave updates on the schedule and what work was next. Once all the walls were finished, David Huff gave us an opportunity to paint the walls before the drop ceiling was installed which was a big help. We took advantage of that and painted all the walls. We had some small changes we wanted done and wanted to add some things. David Huff was very accommodating to changes. Some changes added more cost but the additional amount was reasonably priced. The contractor did some extras that we did not ask for and he didn?t charge for it. Some of these extras were installing a hard wired smoke detector, placement of additional trim between existing drywall and fireplace, and he installed some additional drywall behind bathroom wall. At the end of the job, I had a small punch list of things to correct and David Huff made the corrections. The job was completed a little after the timeframe he told me but it was because of coordination issues with the county to get the work inspected. Overall it wasn?t that much of a delay. My family is very pleased with having a new family rec room and bathroom in the basement. The work was high quality and done in a professional manner. I am glad I went with Huff Construction for this job. I will definitely do business again with Huff Construction.
Description of Work: Finish/remodel our basement. The work entailed remodeling a large room (approx. 650 SF), hallway (approx. 60 SF) adding a new nook for utility sink (approx. 25 SF) and adding a new bathroom (approx. 100 SF). Work involved framing, insulating, hanging and finishing drywall all without penetrating our existing B-dry waterproofing system. A new wall was built and 3 new doors were added. Also included was a t-bar/drop ceiling throughout the basement. We added flooring (porcelain tile in bathroom and nook and Allure Ultra vinyl planking in hallway and large room). We provided the flooring materials except for the baseboards and trim. The contractor performed the labor to install flooring. The following electrical work was done: Added 9 electrical outlets in new walls, added 6 fluorescent lights, added 7 recessed canned lights with some on a dimmer switch, and added a hardwired smoke detector. Installed light fixtures, exhaust fan, and 2 GFI outlets in the bathroom and installed light fixture in nook area. The following plumbing work was done: installed a utility sink in nook, installed an up-flush system (our basement was below grade) toilet, sink/vanity, and shower. We provided the utility sink, sink/vanity and shower unit. The contractor provided the toilet and the labor to install everything. The contractor also installed a new water faucet outside.

This is our second time using Huff Construction, Inc. We experienced the same great service and quality of workmanship as with our previous deck project. This time David Huff and his crew built a new front porch and turned our home into a showpiece. He worked with us and our budget to meet our goals. They replaced our old 6x8 stoop that was covered with an old-fashioned awning with a beautiful 10x12 columned brick porch with 4-foot steps on 3 sides. Huff, Inc. replaced facia and soffits in the front with maintenance-free PVC materials. They also custom built covers for our shutters with the same materials and installed recessed lighting for an elegant finished product. Our friends and neighbors agree that it looks almost Jeffersonian. He did all this from a rough sketch we provided and from talking with us. He handled all the permitting and inspections with professionalism. Our sunroom had flat roof that had become spongy. David designed and built a shed roof with dimensional shingles. We won't have to worry about it for many years. He also completed the wrapping of all soffits and facia around the house. Exterior painting is now a thing of the past for us. (hooray!) Also part of this contract was a floor refinishing project. We had lived with the old carpet in the living room/dining room since we moved in 13 years ago and were ready for a change. Huff subcontracted with a locally owned company to pull up the carpet and expose what we hoped would be lovely oak flooring like we found in other parts of the house. Sure enough, we ended up with beautifully refinished hardwood floors. Finally, the coup de grace... the ceiling in the living room had a crack down the center which we had covered (amateurishly) with trim. David suggested a coffered ceiling. He designed it and had his crew complete it one day. It enhances the room beautifully, both acoustically and aesthetically. After two excellent experiences with this company, we can recommend Huff Construction, Inc. without reservation.
Description of Work: 1. Replaced 6x8 front stoop with a beautiful 10x12 column brick porch with 4-foot steps on 3 sides. 2. Design and build new roof over sunroom. 3. Refinish hardwood floor in living room/dining room. 4. Design and build coffered ceiling in living room. . 5. Helped us stay within our budget.

Huff got back to me right away and came out and looked at the damage. We dicused price and he worked with me and my insurance. He is well versed with what the insurance pays and worked with me not to hurt my walet to bad. He ordered my materials before he had money from the insurance and had a crew ot my place as soon as the materials came in. They had the roof fixed and plywood up in a day and we were heading into the week end. It was supposed to rain so I expressed concern about getting my roof wet with no shingles. He had a crew there Sunday and had the roof complete before it rained. Couple more day to finish the sheet rock and wiring and Huff Construction was done. Had a small glitch with one of my light switches and he fixed it right away. They even cut up my old rafters for my fire place. All in all very satisfied with all the work done. Would definetly use Huff Construction again.
Description of Work: Huff repaired my garage after a storm put a tree through the roof. He replaced 4-5 of the main rafters and the entire roof. Anything that was broken or damaged he fixed.

I found the contractor on this website and called him. No one answered so I left a message. Contractor responded immediately to my message and expressed his high motivation to win the bidding on this project. Contractor appeared personally to perform the examination of the property and wrote down carefully all our requests. Contractor provided a quote very quickly. Contractor was reasonably flexible while negotiating the price and demonstrated patience in the negotiation process. Once the project has started contractor brought a team of 6 workers and was present much of the time on site. Contractor assisted with delivery of materials from stores. Contractor was easy to reach over the phone. Contractor always made sure that what he was about to do is right before doing. Contractor was very attentive to our requests and did not request additional payment for small changes/additions Contractor was willing to redo work that was unacceptable by us until reaching our satisfaction. Contractor demonstrated wisdom in resolving small disagreements and by that not letting them to develop into crisis. Contractor did ask for the last portion of the payment before all (small) details were completed but did not insist when was explained that all work must be completed before the last payment will be submitted. Contractor patiently completed all items in the final punch list. Contractor did quality job on 90% of all items. On things that he is less skilled he put his best effort. On a personal side - contractor is a nice, easy going man. Pleasure to deal with and well mannered. Overall, based on my experience in renovation projects, I would honestly say that David is an A+ contractor and he made this difficult experience (of house renovations) a lot more easy and pleasant for us.

Contractor performed work until completion. Upon completion, contractor was asked to give homeowners an opportunity to inspect the work. Contractor appeared agitated that he was not receiving payment immediately upon completion. Once homeowner arrived home and inspected the work, they created a list of items that needed to be fixed as well as items that were not completed. Contractor became impatient and defensive upon hearing this and was told he would receive final payment upon the completion of the work. He was also asked to cleanup the worksite. Contractor came back completed some of the items on the punch list and requested payment. Homeowner once again informed contractor of the remaining items and that he would receive payment upon completion of all the items. Contractor behaved in an unprofessional manner and became agitated and impatient. In the end, the homeowners were pleased with the siding replacement but unhappy with some aspects of the roof. Homeowner would not hire contractor again.
Description of Work: The contractor replaced entire roof and replaced siding.

All three jobs that Huff Construction did for me were completed in a timely manner and had excellent results.
Description of Work: David, the owner, showed up promptly when he said he would, so it began well from the start. I had ideas of what I wanted done and discussed them with him. He visualized easily what I was trying to achieve. He offered some good ideas of his own and we came up with a plan. The bid was submitted quickly and was acceptable. He began work when he said he would and completed the work before leaving for another job. The work was of good quality and clean up was also completed competently. I have actually called Huff Construction for two jobs after the first one. Work completed included a total remodel of a sunroom, bringing it up to code, putting in all new windows, insulation, drywall, and realigning an existing door. The new siding exacly matched the existing house. The crew also completed roofing the sunroom and a carport.

It was excellent. They arrived early in the day, the crew was polite and efficient. They were very fast workers and advised me on how to make things look the best and cleanest they could be. If I happened not to be around, they worked on their own to make sure it looked nice. They were very knowledgable, professional, and efficient. David, the owner, was here everyday to see how things were going. He participated in everything until it was done. They cleaned up well after themselves. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing remodeling, additions, or whatever your carpentry needs are.
Description of Work: They finished a basement and built a large set of stairs on the front of the house. They also did several small carpentry jobs, including replacing closet doors, building chases around wiring, installing paneling, a drop ceiling, and built a utility room.

We renovated our sunroom to open out to a deck with stairs to an existing paver patio. Huff Construction did all carpentry work. Trimming 10 windows and making a door opening from an 11th window took just 3 days. He carefully cut the door opening so the entire siding did not have to be replaced. The deck is a thing of beauty. It took another 3 days from start to final approval by the city. Huff arranged for all permits and city paperwork. I was a little anxious because the deck needed custom trimming and placement to fit into a defined space but his expertise maximized use of the materials. He gave us the largest possible deck for the space and created a stairway to our paver patio that lines up perfectly with the circle in the middle. The job included a rail handle along with lattice and a door under the deck. We had researched various woods, composites, and PVA in advance and he led us to the best product. His crew showed up on time each day of the job and stayed all day. They replaced the windows over the newly trimmed openings promptly to cut down on flies, etc. Huff is an excellent craftsman and good supervisor to his crew, who all seemed very happy working with him. He had some extra time to do a few projects with the leftover deck materials. His price was fair for all work performed and the job went smoothly. They also did a good job cleaning up when they were finished.
Description of Work: Trimmed out 1960s-era windows so new modern windows could be inserted. Cut opening and installed new door in one of the windows. Built new deck, unattached to existing home. Performed multiple auxiliary services with leftover materials including new door to crawlspace, reconstructed garden bench, and lattice skirt to outbuilding.
