Adam lives here in the Tri-cities, was on time, and did such an excellent job! He had my door fixed and was much cheaper than the other companies that came and gave me an estimate. If I ever have any more problems I will definitely be using them again.

The service man told me he had been working on garage door for I think about 20 years. He was here about 30 to 45 minutes. He installed safety cables on the springs, put 2 rollers on for the cables that lift the door. Oiled some of the rollers in the track. Now for some reason now my door is difficult to get it to go down with my remote. It takes 2 to 3 clicks of my remote to get it to come completely down. When I push the remote button, it will come down about a foot then goes back up. I push the remote button a second time, the door comes down about 1/2 way. I push the remote a third time and finally it's down. I think I was over charged at least double what I could had a different service to work on my door. I think that the large springs that lift my door are out of balance. The service man replaced one of the springs which I already had on hand and had purchased some time ago. That's my story, I'm an unhappy camper. I'm a older person and I think I might have been taken advantage of.

Description of Work: When I made the appointment I was told that there would be a $55.00 charge for the appointment but that would be credited toward work done. A part was replaced which I was told cost $179. This was for a unit that is priced, on the internet, at about $200. In addition I was charged a $45 labor fee. The $55 dollar appointment charge wasn't waved, because all of this isn't "a major repair". I believe their pricing is exorbitant and unreasonable.

They charged me $575 for something that another company charged me only $85 for. They are also actually located in another state. Two technicians arrived, one of them I think was in training and one knew what he was doing. The motor ended up not working properly after the installation, and after receviing other estimates, I found out that what they charged me was ridiculous. I wouldn't use this company in the future. The good thing is that they were very cooperative with removing everything they did & refunding my money with no problem.
Description of Work: A spring and motor on my garage door needed to be replaced.

The company advertises same-day service. I called them on 8/10/10 when my garage door came off the track as I was driving my car into the garage, almost collapsing the double-door onto my car. The door is now hanging off the track, and if it falls down further, my car will be badly damaged. I called Home Town Garage Doors from their large ad in the Yellow Pages. Apparently the same-day service is false advertising, as they would not give me an appointment until the next day. Meanwhile, my car is trapped in the garage in danger of damage, and I have no way to open the door and go to work until after they fix the door the next day. I'm also nervous that meanwhile there could be an emergency for which I need my car. They promise they will be here the next day between noon and 2 p.m. At 11:30 a.m. the next day, a female representative calls and casually announces that the technician is sick, so they can't keep the appointment. She expresses no regrets whatsoever and acts completely unconcerned about my dilemma. I understand that the technician she is referencing cannot keep the appointment, but am surprised that they are cancelling the appointment for lack of back-up . She proceeds to tell me in detail how sick the technician is, as if she thinks I am expecting that particular technician to show up and provide service anyway! I express my sympathies for that technician, but ask whether they have another technician they could send, as I can't believe they are blowing off a customer with an appointment because one of their employees is sick, and they have no back-up. She is speaking to me in a very unconcerned voice the whole time, even though I tell her I need to get my car out of the garage ASAP and was counting on them to keep their word and deliver the service as promised and scheduled. I tell her I will spread the word about their company on the Internet, and she says "Okaaaaaay," in a very sing-song voice and hangs up. Do NOT use this company because clearly customer service is not a priority, and they have no backup if a technician gets sick and/or can't come to work on the day of your appointment! This company is apparently a franchise headquartered in Abingdon, VA, with providers scattered throughout other states, so it should be a large enough enterprise to have more than one technician per area for backup purposes such as this! This is a very poor business practice for a company the size of this that (supposedly) provides an emergency service.
