Tommy's Tree Service

It was not a good experience! I would not use them again, they came out no a very rainy day and he was pushy and very negative. We asked what he could do for a certain amount of money, and he would not engage me or actually answer this question for me. He was not pleasant, he said they would come back out to do the service and they never did. I would not use them and would not recommend them to anyone.

Horribly unprofessional. That's the only way to describe it. Refused to make an appoinment in advance. Kept calling to make same-day appointments. I work two jobs and continued to tell them it was completely unfeasible. They believed that since the expiration of the coupon was three months that was their "window" to provide service. Tommy is the name of father and son, but they both answer their business line "Tommy" so you never know who you're talking to. Father was rude. Finally decided to demand refund and bring my business elsewhere.

I had a coupon. They did it when they said they would and cleaned up well.

Good as far as services, they lost points because first they took a while to get back to me after I called and left a message. Once they were in the yard and the obstacles overcome, all was very nice and cleaned up well.

There's no story to tell. If you live in Maryland I would suggest finding a different tree service.

Our area just experienced one of the worst storms called Derecho in years. There were so many fallen trees in area. We tried for a day and a half to call tree companies and one of the first to respond was Tommy Tree Service. He returned our call in 10 mins and showed up for an estimate about 4 hrs after on the same day. We had a big branch that fell onto our roof and chimney. Underneath this hanging branch were our airconditoning unit, propane tank and other machinery which placed the location of the branch in a critical location. Tommy recognized the urgency for the branch to be removed immediately since it was putting a lot of pressure on the roof and proposed to do the job the next day. He reassured us that his crew will do their best to protect the property and equipment below from further damage. He explained all possible scenarios and was very knowledgeable. The crew showed up the next day as promised and did a fantastic job. Thank you, Tommy Sr, Tommy Jr and crew!

I found them on Angie’s List. I remember thinking at the time that the price was a little high, but he was very personable, and I liked him very much. I think I will use them again.

They did a good job. They did everything I asked and even took care of little things for me at no extra charge. He was great and there were no problems scheduling and working out a time to have them come by.

Tommy responded to an initial email, and did come out to estimate the work to be done under the coupon (more about that in a minute) but then I never heard from him again despite several follow up emails from me to ask to schedule the work. I contacted A.L. and my money for this "Deal" was fully refunded. Regarding estimating the job, the "Deal" cost $139.00 and then when Tommy came out to see the several large branches I indicated I wanted cut down he said it would cost another $150 for a total of $285.00. I felt that I was not getting any "deal" at that point - that I was being charged $285 for not even $300 'worth' of work. It's just as well that Tommy never followed through. Tommy Jr. came out to provide an estimate, although it took some amount of phone tag. He claimed that they were overwhelmed by the response to the coupon offer. I had expected him to work up an etimate and email it to me like the other companies had done. However, he gave me a verbal estimate on the spot, and it was very high compared to other estimates I had obtained. He could tell I wasn't interested, so at that point the estimate started to drop dramatically. I really did not want to do this kind of haggling. I expected all of the companies to give me their best price and then I would choose the one I felt offered the best value for the price. SinceTommy's initial estimate was so high, I was not inclined to use his services. It just did not seem very professional to me. However, I had already spent $180 dollars on a $350 coupon, so I called him a couple of weeks later and asked if he would remove an old stup for the price of the coupon. He agreed, but it took a lot of phone calls and emails to both him (Tommy Jr.) and Tommy Sr. to get them out to do the work. At one point I sent them a message through Angies's list, sent them a message via their website and sent them several emails. No replies. I heard a lot of excuses like the email wasn't working, the person who handed emails was sick, we lost your phone number, etc. Now for the good news - when they did come out to remove the stump, they did an excellent job.

I paid $139 and never received any services.

Tommy's Tree Service did great tree work in our yard. Tommy Jr. came out to go around our property with us. He was knowledgable and very helpful in pointing out many trouble areas with our trees. We came up with an overall plan which we were delighted with. He then came out about a week later with a full team to do the project. They put in a long days work and did a great job.

They came out to looks at my tree, and they wanted to do additional work from what the Big Deal covered. They said they would give me a good price. I was not interested in having additional work done. I just wanted what was covered by the Big Deal. They said they would call me a week after they gave me the estimate, but I never heard from them. I called them this morning, and they said they could not come out for a couple more weeks, so I told them to forget it.

He looked at the tree and discussed with me the cost of removal at $1500+. This was a verbal estimate. There was no breakdown for the price. It was based on the size of the tree, "roping" it for removal, and removal. I asked for an explanation as to how Angie's List cost of $125 played into the price and was told that it gave me a $300 discount which leaves me with a total cost of $1200+. I informed him that he was a 2nd company for an estimate and that I would not be inclined to use him because his price was more expensive for the same job approach provided by Mac Tree Service. He then quoted me a cost of $1000 which is close to the other company's estimate. I requested a written estimate and am waiting for it.

My only recommendation is shop around for other prices, although Tommy's Tree Service did provide a high quality of service.

I have given him my home and cell phone numbers. We could not coordinate a time. The only time I got a response from him was voicemails he left trying to coordinate a different times.

OK, though the guy was a little vague about when he would do the work. Came sooner than I expected, however, and took away the detritus

An extremely professional job. The trees were removed and put into a wood chipper. The remaining wood that would be good for firewood was stacked for future use. The workers left the area very clean, sweeping up the sawdust that remained.

Just to get him on the phone is an hassle.

I agreed and he said he could do it in the next couple of days or next week. I agreed to the next week. No contract just verbal agreement. I stated I didn't need to be present but I requested he call me and let me know what day they would be out. Called the office number and didn't receive an answer but I didn't leave a message. Couple of days later I called and left a message asking when they would be out. No return call but the next day I came home early from work and they showed up (I Heard a chain saw). I suggest trying the cell number. They were fast, and cleaned everything up. Great job on trimming the trees. I made my presence known, coming out a couple of times to watch. Nothing was said to me. Next thing I knew they were finished. No one spoke to me or asked me if that's what I wanted done or if that was what I expected. I came out and told them thank you and asked if I was to pay them or mail it. They said pay them. A little off in the communication department but the overall service was great.

Tommy and his team trimmed our trees to our satisfication. They came to give an estimate and returned two days later to perform the job. I was pleased with the work they did and would highly recommend them as being timely, professional and honest.

We paid $139 for $300 worth of tree service work. Once we were able to set up an appointment, he arrived on time. We had no idea there would be an additional fee of $1000!! Our trees are not large or difficult to reach. They did the work that same day and the work was satisfactory but the price seemed to be exhorbitant. If you plan on using them, plan on paying a high price. Our trees are definitely not large. If you have large trees, I imagine you will pay much more.

We purchased the coupon for tree service and and contacted the company. Mr. Frazier responded right away, came to the house and gave us an estimate, then contacted the utilities for us. Once the utility company marked the lines, Mr. Frazier's team came back and removed the tree and stump. They did such a careful and thorough job of removal and cleanup that you cannot tell there was ever a tree in that spot.

I walked them through the yard and pointed out what I wanted done. I was given an estimate for $1300. I told them I didn't have $1300 and asked what I could get done for the coupon plus an additional $300. I was told I could have two trees removed, which could be mulched or turned into firewood, have some fallen limbs removed and mulched, and cut up a fallen tree into firewood. He checked with his workers to see if they'd agree on this. They agreed and started on the job. While they were working on the trees, I was working in another part of the yard raking leaves. I choose to have the smaller tree, which was a pine, mulched and the medium-sized tree, which was a walnut, turned into firewood. This did not happen. They started to mulch the walnut tree. I stopped them before it was all mulched, so I only received about five foot long pieces of firewood. After this, I was upset with them, and I noticed they had an attitude while working. It wasn't a good atmosphere between them and me. I was later explained by the guy who gave me the estimate that his workers were upset with him, not me, because they thought he bid the job too low. Before I knew it, they packed up their equipment and started to leave. I confronted them about they not finishing the job. I was explained that they felt they did a fair value of work and the job was done. We had an agreement, and I tried to explain I wasn't getting the $300 worth of service from the Big Deal coupon plus $300 extra I was paying for. I told them I would only pay $150 in addition to the coupon because they didn't finish. I was frustrated at this point because I was never given a contract to hold them to. After explaining this, they decided they would finish the job if I paid the additional price that was agreed upon. Between the time they started to leave and decided they'd finish, my son came home and parked where they needed to park. I asked him to move the car. He was so nervous about the confrontation between this company and me that he backed the car into a ditch and received a flat tire. They never offered to help and just waited in their truck until the drive was clear. They finished the job, but it was dark out. I couldn't go check to see if everything was done, but I paid them anyway. They left so quick that they left a saw on my property. After reviewing the work, I don't think I received $600 worth of work. I feel their increasing prices for additional costs, so you don't get much for what you're paying for.

I called him a few times before Thanksgiving to try and schedule him to come out to look at the tree work I needed done. When I did spoke with him he told me he was sick and so I asked if he thought he would be able to make it out around the weekend and he said that it depended on how he felt so I asked him to give him a call when he felt better. I never heard from him and called him two other times and left messages and I have still yet to hear back from him.
