made contact with matt on monday october 26th 2015, to request a estimate of the work to be done, asked for pictures to be sent after the work is completed, and to let me know before he goes to the house so i could inform my tenants that he would be arriving. Monday november 2nd the price was given for all the work that needed to be done. on wendsday november 4th i sent matt a check very promptly for the work that would be completed that friday. on friday nov 9th matt tells me that the price that he has given me was not correct and that the new price would be 100 plus more dollars. My husband called matt and matt told him that he would complete the work and "eat it" or take a loss. i had not heard from matt so wendsday nov 11th i contact matt to see if he got the check and he says yes he did and that the following weekend he would continue doing more work. by monday november 16th i had not heard back from matt and so i contacted him he told me that he had hurt his back again on the previous friday and was not able to complete the work over the weekend, again by tuesday november 24th i had not heard back from matt so i asked if the work had been completed he said no and that he would complete it saturday. saturday november 28th, he told me that he went to the house and had only completed only 1 side of the porch and that he left the materials on the property because the price of the materials was adding up to almost the price of the estimate and payment that i had sent him. that was the last contact that we had with him. we were unsure of this persons truthfulness and so we did not send additional funds as receipts of the materials and things were not provided to us. matt showed up to the property without letting me know that he was enroute so that i could let my tenants know that he would be coming. when he did not show up he did not contract me. At one point he had shown up to the property unannounced and was in the back of the house (the work was done in the front porch), my tenants workers seen him and let my tenant know. They went outside and seen him and asked what he was doing, and he said he was looking for his ladder. The tenants had their ladders behind their house. So we are unsure if he was asking for money to cover this ladder that he cannot find. I have not received a receipt in the mail or any of the pictures that i requested. He does have his payment from me though. From what i understand the work was done poorly and we are now going to have to pay to have someone else come out and redo the work over again.

Mr Metzger arrived on time for three days. Went to work right away. Did his job well. Hard worker and courteous.

We have used this contractor several times in the past and his service has recently been declining. This last time we were really disappointed. He quoted a price for the above work and completed about 75% of it. We paid him in full and then he did not come back. When we asked him when he was planning on finishing the work he was unresponsive. When we finally got in touch with him he said he was booked up for the next week and wouldn't be able to finish the work. (He left a room unpainted, caulking incomplete, paint tape and tools out, and didn't power wash a door. We also had paint splatters from some painting that he did complete on a darker colored wall.) As I said before, he was usually very professional so this time we were disappointed.

He has been doing a great job! He has done a lot of things for my house. I like his energy and enthusiasm. He is prompt and gets right to it. He's a nice guy.

He got hear and went right to work. What he did in the time he did would have taken me twice as long.

It went very well... the whole job took several weeks and turned out great! He was punctual and kept us informed whenever needed... my only other comment is that the final price turned out to be more than the estimates provided before the job began. I would have appreciated that discussion before I had to write the final check...

They were very friendly, professional and provided a great service. The did wonderful work and finished as promised!

We selected the paint scheme and he purchased the paints and provided all of the required equipment to do a truly exceptional job. Prompt, courteous, and professional. I would highly recommend Handy Works for any paint job your house requires. You will not be dissatisfied!

He rescheduled his appointment with us three times. Finally came the third time, but was here only a few minutes and took no notes as to work we wanted done. Said we would hear from him in a couple of days with an estimate. We never heard anything more from him. We called after about a week leaving a message asking him if he was interested in the job, if so, call us. But we never heard back. Don't waste your time with this company.

We have been pleased with how prompt Matt responds to our requests. He always prioritizes our "lists" of jobs and gives an estimate when requested. He is efficient and quite fair in his price. He will shop around to get a good deal when using other services or purchasing parts. He has worked as a general contractor for us for large jobs as well as smaller jobs that he personally handles. Overall, we have been very pleased.

Work only began one day ago; one week delay due to weather. Power washing work also delayed because well pump failed--I live in the country! Based on all how he has completed quite a few interior projects, including assembling small furniture pieces, I assume that the project will be satisfactorily completed. I like the contractor's demeanor and his willingness to accommodate added projects. That's all I can say for now.

Matt was prompt with his response to our request for an estimate. He worked within the rates provided by the penny pinching insurance company. He stayed in contact with us throughout the two month long project. He took a bare stud and concrete gutted basement and turned it back into a great living space. He was flexible as our plans changed. The guy is a true jack of all trades. The project took longer than we wanted, but not all of the delay was the contractor's fault. He was also amenable to our expectations that minor defects be fixed. We intend to employ him again to work around our home.

Matthew is a highly reliable professional. Right from the start he ensures you that when he is in your home he will act like he is in his own home and performing a repair or replacement to his own property. As a veteran of the Marine Corps, Matthew understands respect, self-dicipline, and quality of service. Matthew does whatever is possible to ensure each step is the right step. Whether it is 7PM or 7AM Matthew is available to discuss the services he is performing to your home.

He came for a drywall estimate and ended up moving electrical switches and sockets, rewiring the electric lights in the ceiling as well as the drywall job. He gave me an estimate and the price did not change. He told me how many days it would take and he was done. He arrived early, stayed most of the day and prepared the workspace for the next day's activities. I felt like I was the only person he was working for because he was present most of the day and never felt like he was rushing off to check on another job. He is a diligent worker, cleans the work area of debris when he is finished and even during the job he will stop in to let you know how things are going and to show how the work is coming along. When he came out for the estimate he was detailed in evaluating what needed to be done in order to perform the work as quickly as possible. I feel like I have found someone who not only provides quality work but is also an honest and reliable individual. Because he is capable of peforming such a wide variety or work, I am sure I will be hiring him again in the future.

He did a good job on the power washing and was very quick. However, the staining of my deck was a completely different story. The weather was responsible for some of the delay, but it took another 6 weeks and me calling to remind Matt about my decks before he came back to do the staining. The quality of the work was ok at the time. However, three months later you can hardly tell they were stained, so I'm not sure what kind of product was used. On top of all that, he never did come back to finish staining the railings and posts or clean the gutters.

Excellent work and very professional. Matthew made the house look like new. He gave me a realistic estimate for the additional work I contracted him to do and everything was completed on time and within budget. I loved that he would call and give me progress reports on what work was done each day. I recommend Handy Works to anyone who wants to work with a professional, dependable, and just a great company.

Showed up unexpectedly to do some work that we had discussed. Had a young man with him that he said he was teaching and helps him in the summer. Matt had previously told me he did handyman services for $35 per hour. I wrongly assumed that would be the charge for the work to be done. He worked a little over 1 hour on my jobs and was going to charge me $210. When I balked a bit, he said ok, $150. I asked what about $35.00 per hour. He said that when John came with him he gave him $15.00 an hour and the plumbing jobs were $50.00 each. I was floored that screwing on a $20.00 shower head was considered a plumbing job! Matt is a good worker, fast and knowledgeable. I just feel like I was taken advantage of a bit. Mostly I blame myself for not being more assertive and asking what a particular job would cost me before he began. I would hire Matt, but make sure to get an exact price for each job before he begins.

I love that there is no job too big or small for Matt and that he can do it all. He's reliable and personable. I'd call Matt first for all my home improvement needs.

He was on Angie's list. He was great on everything. His name is Matt. He was really really good. I recommended him online. I call him for everything now. I liked his timeliness, honesty and just the ability to get the job done quickly. He is extremely knowledgeable and very efficient. I used him to fix my sink, put up my racks and put up the ceiling fan. He painted my whole house for $1900, and my wife wanted some designs around the TV that we had mounted. I would use him again as much as I can. He does plumbing. He did the power wash too. The exterior of my whole house had a lot of moss and green stuff build up and the house is only 9 year old, he was able to clean up every single thing.

Excellent job. Did quality work. Showed up on time. Returned my phone calls promptly. Very friendly and polite. Even did a few extra things at no cost. Charged exactly what he said he would. Would highly recommend Matthew to anyone.

We had engaged Handy Works previously to do a couple of things around the house. When it then came time for us to finally paint a couple of rooms in the house, we reached out to Matt again. This time, we contracted him for a number of things we had been intending to do for some time. This not only included painting several rooms, but replacing a ceiling fan, mounting a TV, and pressure washing the exterior of the house. I cannot tell you how extremely pleased we are with every single thing he did! Not only did he paint the rooms to perfection, but he provided a level of advice on colors as well as suggestions on which ones would work best together. From a relative who saw the complete job: “it's amazing what a coat of paint can do to change the whole attitude of a room”! We really transformed our family room from a familiar gathering area to one that emphasizes a modern, but comfortable living space with the new paint job. In the same level of expertise, he completed everything else, and also made the exterior of the house look even more cared for since we had not pressure washed the siding since we had it built several years ago. If any of the above is the kind of work you are seeking, I can assure you, you will be 100% pleased with work of this company!

Professionalism. Expertise. Quality. All synonymous with the Handy Works organization. What a goldmine of a resource! In the spirit of Angie's List, I share my experience with this valuable contact. In need of quick handy man work, I ran through the list of sources in Angie's List for my area. I was disappointed with most because of either time, cost, or experience level for the work I wanted done. Just as I was about to give up, I had the great pleasure of speaking with Matt, the owner of Handy Works. Immediately, I knew he was the right resource. I explained that I wanted to have a large tv mounted on the wall; a pot rack hung, and some other general work. He proceeded to talk me through what would be needed and in a very helpful manner, explained the “correct” way for this work to be done. I knew right away he was the perfect resource! Now, with time not on my side, (it was a Thursday and I really wanted the work to be done within a day or two) I asked if he would be able to do it in that timeframe. To my extreme surprise, and keying in on my sense of urgency and the fact that I wanted to get this done quickly, he agreed to come out that Sunday, on Mother's Day, to work and complete the job! As well, because of the way my area was constructed, he ended up having to do quite a bit of drywall cutting to make it work properly, which he did patiently and expertly (as well as fixed and painted beautifully)! Net, net, he completed everything we needed done in excellent time and at a very, very reasonable cost! We are working with him to tackle several other things we need done (including power washing the exterior siding on our house). Would highly recommend his work! Can't say enough about how impressed I was!
