COUNTRYSIDE STUMP GRINDING & TREE SERVICE

All work was on time and as per initial agreed price, they kept me informed of what they were going to do and every step of the work seemed choreographed as if they had done it a million times. They took sensible safety precautions. I did not check whether their contractor license or insurance were current which is something I should have done. I did get a written agreement in advance outlining the scope of the work and price but their skills on paperwork may be limited.

Everything went as expected UNTIL Mr. Streightiff's son told me the gutters were covered and therefore clean. Cleaning the gutters was in #1 Task of the written bid paperwork, very important to us. THEN my husband came home from working out-of-state and discovered they were OVERFLOWING and possibly causing damage to the gutter framework and porch roof. When we called Mr. Streightiff said he would send someone right over. Then when we called again Mr. Streightiff said he would send someone right over for $100 in gas money! I drive to Culpeper on a few dollars of gas, it's about 20 miles. We felt that was very unprofessional. The last time we called he said he wasn't doing anything for us. I learned after the fact that his contractor's license expired in 2010. He was HIGHLY recommended by a local person on our Fauquier County Yahoo! group who either had a better experience or is for some reason giving him a glowing recommendation when he does not merit it. I joined Angie's list to try and avoid dishonest people who do not finish the job. Now I have to find someone to do the gutters and pay extra! I am sick of the unprofessional people around this area that do not or cannot finish the work they bid.

They are very conscientious of what they are doing. They didn't try to raise the price. I had assumed they had added the stump grind price into the estimate, but they hadn't, so while they did the service they refigured and gave me the correct price.
