+ -1 moreVery impressive. Not only did he respond quickly but he fell the tree very precisely putting it down between two other trees we wanted to remain. He does exactly what he says he will for the price he quotes. This is the second time Ben has done a job for us. We will definitely use him again.

I talked to Ben on the phone and discussed the options, made a decision and a couple of days later the tree was down, wood stacked and stump was gone. Does what he says he'll do. Very satisfied.

+ -1 moreDid a great job. Had to avoid a propane tank and fencing around it with one of the limbs. He took them off in a way that they did not come crashing to the ground. He was very thorough in cleaning up. I could not have been more pleased.
Description of Work: Removed a number of very large limbs (2 - 3 feet circumference) from a dying white oak (13 foot trunk circumference). It don't remember how many limbs, but about 5 or 6. Produced two large trailer loads of wood. He removed the limbs without any problems, cut them up and hauled away. Did a very good job of cleaning up the site.

+ -1 moreThis was a big job, requiring Ben + 5 other workers with three trucks, a chipper, bucket hoist and a lift for large sections of wood. Crew arrived promptly at 7 a.m. and worked non-stop until after 11. As with the several other times I've used Ben Smelser, the approach was very professional and exceedingly careful with other garden items and plants in the vicinity of the work. Cleanup was excellent, as always. Highly recommended for his responsiveness, advice, fair pricing and the quality of his work .

+ -1 moreI called and spoke with Andrew. He came out that day and provided me an estimate of $250 for all the work. And he came back and did the work the same day. Very thorough job. He told me to call if I found any other roots that he may have missed and he would personally come back and remove them. Andrew did a great job! I only found one small root, and took care of it myself with an axe...just couldn't see calling him back for that. Although I am sure he would have come had I called.
Description of Work: We had previously had a large Silver Maple tree removed from our yard by another tree removal service. Smelser's was called to provide an estimate to remove the roots. The other contractor wanted $400 on top of the tree removal to remove the roots. It costs $285 to rent a stump grinder.

+ -1 moreBen and crew arrived at about 6:30 am (working early to avoid the heat), took down both trees and voluntarily trimmed some other dead/dying limbs in other trees within easy reach of the bucket. They chipped all the leaves and brush, cut the good wood to firelog lengths as agreed, and cleaned up the area before leaving. Ben also honored the Angie's list discount coupon. Smelser's Tree Service is by far the most professional and safety conscious team of the four companies who have done work for me.
Description of Work: Removed a split tree that was hung up in other trees and removed a very large oak tree while preserving a Dogwood and small Hickory tree beneath it..

Description of Work: Mr. Smelser came to my home and walked through the yard with me to discuss the felling of several different trees. He offered constructive guidance on the differing manner in which some of the trees should be most safely brought down. He then prepared a written cost estimate and once I approved it, he came out the next week during the agreed-upon time period and did the work exactly as he had described to me. I recommend anyone who uses this service be sure to ask about the health status of trees in the immediate area. Mr. Smelser is quite knowledgeable and can tell you a great deal about your trees, including whether they just need to be trimmed up as opposed to completely removed.
