April 29, 2015 RE: Model GSZ130241AB, Serial 1001683429 I purchased my house March 1, 2010. There was no heat pump at that time. In mid-March I hired Timbercreek Construction Company to install this unit in my house. They subcontracted Murphy?s Mechanical to do the work. Along with that there was other work done as well. When the unit was installed, I was not given paperwork on it at that time. Being a first time home buyer and dealing with construction people, I assumed it was all rolled into one big contract. Needless to say it was not. I recall it being a week or so when I asked if there was any paperwork regarding the heat pump and several other items that were installed in my home. The gentleman at Timbercreek gave me some paperwork and told me the unit had a 10 year warranty but failed to mention anything about me having to go online and do it myself. I assumed I had to do nothing since it was all subcontracted with him. The paperwork was then filed with the stack of huge papers with closing on my house etc. and I never gave it a second thought and went about unpacking my moving boxes and getting things set up. In mid-April, 2013 I discovered my air conditioner was not working. I called the original installer, Murphy?s Mechanical who came out to look at the problem. He put his metering device on it and said it had no Freon in it and that he would have to go get some Freon and fill it up. While he was gone, I checked online for his license and discovered it had expired back in 2012. When Mr. Murphy returned, I asked him about his license and he could not produce it for me. I declined his services at that time. On April 16, 2013 is when my nightmare began with trying to get my unit repaired (which to this day is still not repaired). I contacted Iron Bridge Heating and Air. Patrick came out to assess the situation. According to him, there was a blocked metering device (piston) in the unit in the attic and added more Freon. (Does a blocked piston make it lose Freon?) The unit was blowing cool air again when he left. Below are costs for this day. $158 for repair + $160 for a new service agreement, Total $318 On July 29, 2013 (3 months later), I was without A/C again. Again, Patrick came out to assess the situation. Was told the system was low on Freon AGAIN. He said they could put some stop leak in my unit that would fix the problem. I refused to have that stuff put in my unit since it was so new and insisted they find the leak. He then let me know that I had a 5 year warranty on the coil and it should be replaced. Below is the cost for this assessment. $147 for assessment and labor quote On August 26, 2013, (After waiting for the coil to be shipped) Kevin from Iron Bridge Heating and Air came with a new coil to replace the old one. Pictures attached are of the NEW replacement coil which appeared to be damaged the time of installation. When I questioned Kevin about it, I was told they get bumped in shipment sometimes and it is common they sometimes look like this. I told him the one he took out looked better than that one. He assured me the coil was fine. The installation proceeded and everything was hooked back up. Air was blowing again finally. It was used a couple months then was turned off in the fall and winter. Below is a cost of this installation. $400 labor fees to install new coil On March 11, 2014, my heat pump was blowing cool air. Kevin was once again back at my house to assess the situation. He determined it was a valve that was sticking and not allowing the unit to switch from heat to a/c. He replaced the valve and that did not work and guessed it was a faulty valve, so he got another valve to install. He also added more Freon again and the unit was working ok AGAN. He originally was going to charge me $749 for this valve replacement and Freon. When I questioned him about the Freon, he apologized and said he charged me accidentally for the R22 freon instead of the 410 freon which was less expensive. Below is the cost for replacing this valve and freon. $647 labor fees for replacing valve and freon On June 19, 2014, Iron Bridge was once again called to my home for THE SAME PROBLEM. The unit was freezing up and not blowing cold air. This time at my request, the owner (Tony) came out to assess the situation. He added more Freon and replaced the piston again in the attic and said there would be no charge. If Freon was needed again, wouldn?t that mean there is STILL a leak SOMEWEHRE? After this, the unit worked fine for the rest of the summer. (Luckily it was not real hot last summer) The unit was turned off again until spring of this year. On April 6, 2015, I turned my a/c on again for the first time since I shut it off for the summer of 2014. GUESS WHAT!!?? The A/C does not work AGAIN. Instead of contacting Iron Bridge AGAIN, I had John Scott come out to access the situation. He put his leak detector on the unit and accessed that the NEW COIL has a leak and it was low on Freon AGAIN. Luckily this person felt some compassion. Below is his charge for the assessment and recently added Freon. $40 for Freon and assessment It has now been 2 years and my unit is still not repaired. Here I am once again getting ready to go into another summer with my A/C not working. I am single, live alone and live pay check to pay check. I have cried, spent sleepless nights and had to obtain loans (with high interest) to keep up this faulty unit that I have installed. Now I have to find someone AGAIN to come repair this again with more and more labor charges. I feel Iron Bridge never found the true problem, and was just replacing warranty parts in the hopes that it would fix this apparent slow leak that I have always had in my unit since 2013. Now my warranty is up!!! I am lost!! What do I do? These are the questions that I keep asking over and over. I feel as if I am a victim here. To date, I have spent $1,392 to repair this unit and still more charges to come!
Description of Work: Came to my home 5 times to repair my heat pump. To this day, august 30, 2015 it is still not repaired.

Description of Work: warranty work. They were kind enough to perform warranty work on our system even though we hadn't purchased the units from them, and we weren't able to get proper service from the original company. When the time comes to replace our systems, we will use Iron Bridge.

He installed the wrong equipment for the house, putting in a multi-family heat exchanger which voided manufacturer warranties of the other equipment. He plumbed the boiler incorrectly, which understates the amateurish way in which it was done.. He tried to install a ductless system in the downstairs heat exchanger, but didn't seal off the unit from the crawl space or account for dirt falling from the staircase above it. He failed to connect the water lines to the upstairs unit, so when the main contractor turned on the water, the house flooded. Air ducts under the house were crimped and left to hang down on the soil grade. Most recently I have been told that he used undersized pex pipe to plumb the Aqua-therm units, which is one of the few things which hasn't completely been redone from his original work. I did not hire him directly. He was the low cost choice of my Main Contractor and a major contributing factor as to why I found myself in Court with the same. I won the case easily (but at much legal cost), Iron Bridge testified that he wasn't fully paid, and the Main Contractor filed for Bankruptcy soon thereafter. He came to me after the Main Contractor was fired to seek payment directly. Not knowing the extent of his poor workmanship at that time, I toured the house with him and mentioned the sloppy duct work. He claimed that the air flow was strong and that I had no problem. I am not HVAC qualified, but I know that putting your finger over a garden hose increases pressure, but decreases the volume through the hose. He was painfully inept in explaining away his work. I would look for a contractor with solid references.
Description of Work: Iron Bridge was hired as a subcontractor to do the HVAC work on a complete remodel of my home. The house was gutted and all new equipment was installed. The plans called for an electric HVAC with a Aqua-Therm hot water heating system as a backup for cold weather with a high efficiency gas boiler.
