Work went great. Since it was standard work, Stan was able to give me the estimate over the phone, and had a crew out two days later. This is my third time using Apex and they have always been punctual and courteous. Quality of work is top notch. I will not hesitate to call them again.

At a fair price, and with true expertise, Apex dealt with a variety of electrical issues. The electricians gave careful consideration to the projects and devised excellent solutions. They didn't just do a great job -- they worked within our tight deadline so the sale of our home wasn't delayed. We give our highest recommendation to Stan Scott and his team.

I have contacted them a few times to get the work scheduked. NOW 6 1/2 weeks later they email to say they are too busy to get here to do the work in time for our deadline, which was 8 weeks from the oriiginal visit. We have t start over to get it done with few days before a large event at our house. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT YOUR WORK COMPLETED
Description of Work: They installed one light fixture and promised to come back with parts to do the rest of the needed work. We paid for the work they did and the TIME to estimate what else would be required

I contacted Apex by email and telephone requesting an estimate for installation of dedicated outlets in my unfinished basement for a treadmill and space heater and checking on my kitchen lights. I also spoke to Apex on the phone. Apex agreed to come to my house and provide me with a quote for the job. Two Apex electricians came to my house at approximately 10:30 a.m.. One told me that he was a Master Electrician. The person with him was an apprentice. I showed them the kitchen lights and the basement, explaining that I wanted two dedicated outlets installed in my unfinished basement. I explained that one outlet would be for a large treadmill. The other would be for a space heater. I said that I was concerned regarding the amount of electricity that would be pulled from these items and wanted to make sure they were dedicated outlets. I even showed the electrician the treadmill so he could see the size of the treadmill. They evaluated the job. The Master Electrician told me that he needed to call the office to determine what the cost for the entire job would be. He then went out to his van to speak to the owner. He returned to my house and told me that the quote for the total job would be $90 per hour for labor and parts with the job taking no more than three hours. Therefore, he said the job would be $270. He said that they did not have all the parts for the outlet installation but that someone was on their way with what they needed. Meanwhile, he said they would work on what they could until he arrived. At approximately 11:30, the Master Electrician indicated that since the delivery had not yet arrived, they would take lunch. Both the Master Electrician and apprentice then went outside to the van and had lunch. At approximately noon, they returned to my house and went back down to the basement. Within a half hour later, the delivery arrived for their outlet installation. I went downstairs to check on the job and doublechecked whether they were installing two dedicated outlets as discussed (since the purpose was for a space heater and a large treadmill). The serviceman seemed to indicate that he forgot it would be two dedicated outlets, as discussed, but noted that would be done. I reiterated that was what we discussed given the concerns regarding how much electricity would be drawn for the space heater and treadmill. The electricians were courteous and finished the job at approximately 1:00. The Master Electrician went out to the van after the job was done to prepare the bill. At approximately 1:15, the Master Electrician presented me with the bill. At this point, the job took approximately 2 hours (subtracting out the time for their lunch break). The bill, howevever, was for $448.00, which was $178.00 more than the quote. In addition, the job took only approximately two hours instead of three. When I asked the Master Electrician about this discrepancy, he said that the $270 quote was only for labor, not parts. I said that I asked for a quote for the total job and was told $270, including parts and labor. I said that the bill was now nearly $200 more than the original quote. He apologized for being unclear. I also asked him why I was being charged for three hours labor if the job took only approximately two hours. He said that the owner was charging me for the time for the delivery man to bring the needed items to my house. I paid the bill and they left. I then called the owner and told him about the higher billup after agreeing to have the job done based upon the $270 quote. He said that he was told by the serviceman who came to my house that the $270 was not communicated effectively but said that I should feel fortunate because I received a good deal in any event. I then called the owner back and asked him whether a permit was required for the job. He said that in his thirty years of business, noone had ever asked him for a permit for this kind of job. He said if he had told me that a permit was needed, the job would have cost even more. I then followed up with the owner by email, outlining why Apex should honor the quote that they provided to me. I received an email response from the owner, indicating that they were charging me an extra hour for the delivery because they did not know whether my basement was unfinished. He also said he would refund my money only if Apex came out and removed the work they had done. He would not agree to honor the original quote. I responded that in our original email before Apex came to my house, I expressly indicated that my basement was unfinished. I also said that he should honor the original quote. Lastly, I noted that for Apex to come out and remove the work would exhaust even more of my valuable time (i.e., time for installation, time for removal, time to have another company come out to install the outlets). He responded that that he would give me $50.00 for my time for them to come out and remove their work. I responded that he should honor the quote and that this was not an acceptable response. I did not hear back from the owner. On the next business day, I had to take time off work to meet with Arlington County's Permit Office. I explained what happened and was told that Apex should have secured a permit for the job. I then paid for a permit and had the work inspected by Arlington County. The electrical work passed inspection, except the inspector agreed that the pole up the wall was not straight (as I noted, as well, in my email to the owner after the job was completed). The inspector concurred that a dedicated outlet/breaker was proper given the intended use for a space heater. The resolution I seek is a reimbursement of the $178 overcharge since the original quote was $270 for the total job (even though the job only took two hours. Given that I was told I would be charged $90 per hour for parts and labor and the job only took approximately two hours, the total job should only have been $180). Overall, I give Apex a D rating because of the bait and switch, failure to obtain a permit, and failure to handle the matter in a fair manner. I rate the quality of the work a C because the pole was unnecessarily crooked and a required permit was not obtained. Responsiveness with respect to setting up the appointment is an A. However, responsiveness in terms of addressing the overcharge is an F. I rate punctuality a B because they were on time but the lunch break for a short job was not expected. I would rate the electricians a B for professionalism in terms of the job but the owner an F with respect to his handling of the erroneous bill and failure to secure a required permit.

Price was not cheap, but not expensive either; probably about on par given the parts and labor. Nate came out to provide the estimate and Stan did the installation; both are very good at the 'design' aspect of the work, i.e. where to situate the lighting so that it is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Also, the ceiling had just been painted and Stan did an excellent job of not heeding my pleas to retain the fresh paint, minimizing invasice cuts or holes - only one tiny 1/8and quot; bit drill hole was required outside of the installed fixtures. Overall the install was a success and everything looks really great. We had other work estimated (another bank of recessed lights) but declined that work as we were getting beyond our budget.
Description of Work: The job was to install 6 recessed lights in a first floor Kitchen ceiling, using a pre-existing drop for a flourescent. We have no 2nd level and the attic is accessible so it was a reasonably straight forward installation of 6 fixtures (though attic access was not even needed for this).

I needed several bare bulb light fixtures switched to caged fixtures and had several outlets switched to protected out door outlets and a new all weather outlet installed in my barns. This provider was referred to me by a contractor friend of mine. I wanted an electrician that was familiar with working in a barn environment. I got several bids and the the guys with Apex listened to what I needed done and included everything in their estimate. When they came to do the work they were very quick and efficient and the work was good quality. Even after I had signed the job completion, and I discovered one of the switches wasn't what it should have been, they quickly changed it to the right switch with no issue. I feel very comfortable now with the electrical situation in my barns, and would call Apex again if I need any other work in my barns or home.

Cost to install was $600 plus the cost of the switch (about $290 which I purchased myself). Took about half the day with 3 guys, and they worked the whole time. The technician, Nate, and his two helpers were very professional, friendly, and did the work quickly and efficiently even though it was freezing cold outside and the electrical panel was in the unheated garage.Nate clearly knows his stuff. The owner answered my initial call and was a straight shooter. He came by at the completion of the job which I appreciated. I appreciated the service and will call on them again for any future jobs.

We had hired another company to fix the lights, but, they charged us over $400 to diagnose the problem and then wanted to come back and fix the problem for another $1000 plus. We declined and hired Apex. They not only fixed the lights, but charged us less than half what the other company wanted. Outstanding job!

This rating is way overdue. Don't go anywhere else. These guys at APEX were soo good!!! If I could give them an A+++ I would! We were trying to get our house ready for settlement on a sale in 2010 and the other realtor wanted the bathroom fans fixed by the time we went settlement. This was the time of the bad snow storm and originally we went with another company b/c that is who our home warrantee company recommended. They were terrible! They kept claiming the parts were coming, held up by the snow, that the parts would be coming soon, that they would be by soon to fix it, and they never did. Week after week passed. Finally it was the week of settlement and still nothing. Sooo.... We were scrambling at the 11th hour trying to find some one who could help us. APEX Electric came out the week before (like 72 hours before) settlement, if I am not mistaken it was the the same day we called them, or at the latest the very next day (I think they felt bad hearing all the trouble we had been through) and professionally fixed and installed what we were trying to get the other guys for over a month. It was crunch time for us and we really appreciated what they did to go above and beyond. They actually spoke to the other electric company for us to see where the part was that we had paid for and ordered. They got the other company to deliver the part and got to work installing it for us. The day they were working on the bathroom fans our agent told us some bad news, the homeowners also wanted us to also fix the front light to make it look like all the rest in the neighborhood by settlement that coming Monday, we were already at Thursday or Friday of the week prior at this point. Apex Electic to the rescue once again! The guys who fixed our fans were super busy but said they could come out on Saturday, 48 hours before settlement, at a time they don't normally work to help us out. It was like two angels had dropped out of the sky, seriously that's how I felt. They were real lifesavers!! Nice guys and great service. Thanks so much Apex!!

I had an urgent electrical problem and contacted Apex. I was not a current customer and consequently was pleased that they were able to come out the same day to look at the issue. Everything Apex has ever done for me was completed successfully without subsequent problems, and was accomplished in a timely manner. I have no memory of ever having a single problem with either their work or their professionalism.
Description of Work: Apex Electric has been performing work at my house for many years. I would estimate that they have successfully completed at least four discrete engagements. These have included: Installing a special 220 line with special protection for an outside hot-tub, Installing an extra fluorescent light in the ceiling over a ping pong table, Fixing a problem that was blowing fuses in my basement, and more that I cannot remember right now.

Everything went well and we are happy with the results. Stan came by with the post hole digger and a bucket to mix the concrete since we didn't have those items on hand. Nate is a master electrician so the installations went quickly. They used the hose to clean up the area around the hole they dug for the lamp post and installed a new GFI plug there too for our holiday lights.
Description of Work: Stan came and did an estimate in a timely fashion. He then scheduled the work to swap/install 2 exterior coach lights by our front door, add 2 new electrical outlets in my house, shorten a chandelier chain/cord and replace our rotted exterior lamp post and light. His men, Nate and Cole arrived on time and worked continuously in a professional manner. They removed their shoes each time they entered the house and were careful not to let the dog escape when they opened the door. It was drizzling when they worked on the lamp post. At our request they dug a 2 foot deep hole and using a concrete mix we provided, they set the new post in the ground in the proper manner being careful that it was level and straight. They cleaned up after themselves and removed the trash. They were easy to understand and communicate with.
