It went very well. They contacted me within a day to talk about an estimate. I gave them all the details about the leak I felt was coming from the chimney. I told them where the leak had made its way from the attic to the ceiling in laundry area. They inspected everything and gave me the quote. I had contacted 2 other companies , one couldn't get to me for 2 weeks and the other one took days to response. Since I had used these folks before on another rental house chimney I felt there price was fair. I needed it done asap since the house had been painted and then when I noticed the leak the ceiling had to be repainted. I didn't want another leak so I said lets get it done. The owner contacted me the next day the 11th and said he would get out and start the process that day. The weather was about 50 degrees . He did the work and came back on the 16th and used the SEAL to protect for 10years.

This company came to clean out our chimney and give us an estimate for some repair work. They took $109 from me to "sweep" the chimney and estimated $5000 in repair work! Come to find out, the actual repair work is only $320 for a crown and I had to get another company to clean it out AGAIN since Santa's didn't do it right the first time! WORST chimney cleaning/repair company EVER. Stay away from this company! They're crooks!!

I am so sorry to hear that you had such a negative encounter with your chimney company. I have checked and triple checked all of our records and I have no record of providing any service for you. I noticed that you are located in Ohio, and we are based and operate solely in Virginia. We hate to hear of any negative experiences that clients have with chimney companies, sadly some technicians are more knowledgeable than others. If you would like for me to research a credible company in your area, I would be more than happy to do that for you. Sincerely, Monique Hayes

We had a great experience with Santa's Chimney. Rob was always on time, polite, professional and answered all of our questions. He was very easy to work with and did an excellent job on our fireplace.
Description of Work: One of our fireplaces was damaged in Hurricane Irene and they came out to do the repair work. Our house was built in 1963 and the fireplace no longer meets Code requirements. Rob took pictures and showed us the problems with our fireplace and what made it unsafe. He repaired the masonry, installed a new chimney liner and did other work to bring the fireplace to code.

They were hired to do a video inspection by the couple purchasing my condo. The results were that the terra cotta tiles were severely damaged, and the estimate to fix it was $7,000. I've only ever had a handful of fires, and I couldn't imagine they could have caused that amount of damage, so we got second opinions. Two other licensed and certified firms and a County Building inspector all cleared the fireplace as safe and undamaged. From our Level II inspection report: "(The Firm) could not see any major gaps or cracks and no evidence of a damaged flue from a fire. This flue is clean." I don't know what Santa's Chimney charged the buyers for the inspection, but I ended up paying $215 for the other inspections to disprove the initial report. I feel like they were hoping that, as someone who's trying to sell in a bad market, I'd be desperate and would pay anything to get the deal done. I guess I should feel lucky--if it had been a reasonable estimate, I might have just hired them to do the (non-existent) work. Update: I had originally rated them as an F, but I really appreciate Santa's Chimney's response. Second opinions are a must for any project, and I can respect his estimate of the scope of work based on his belief that the tiles were faulty.
Description of Work: Performed a level II fireplace/chimney inspection (video inspection) in a condo for a buyer's agent.

Wow how do I begin with that statement .I can not even put it into words! I would love to meet with you and the other company or building official and perform a video inspect free of charge. We did not note any damage to tiles as you stated .But we did note the tile joints are missing which make the chimney where it is not a solid venting chimney and should be repaired before using. The fireplace is three to four stories tall and tile joints are every two feet that a lot of tile joints. This is a multi flue system with other fireplaces eight I think that are in the same chimney. There’s a huge concrete slab that must be removed. Rental of crane is needed to move which is costly. I would like to state that I have been in the chimney business for 20 years and never look at a sale of a home for any profit. I always tell people to get three estimates I might not be the lowest or the highest but I make an honest fair living for the work we perform. If we come out and there is not any damage to the joints I would double your inspect cost and will have the money with us before we start and be more the glad to apologize but I am 99.99 % sure that there is missing tile joints. We used a color video camera and also gave a copy to the agent that was out there. So please feel free to call us and set that up we will work out any time to meet you out there.
