Castle Chimney Sweeps & Home Repair

Castle Chimney was the best home-builders/repair type experience I have had in decades. The perspective buyers of my 25 year old home had a chimney inspection which stated that the entire chimney needed to be torn down and rebuilt ($7200). {Of course the realtor who called them would get a kick-back.} The report stunned me so I researched chimney companies and phoned Castle Chimney (5 national certifications/endorsements). The owner was prompt every single time they came or I phoned him (I'm on the high end of 'involved' consumer types). He went every extra mile to not rip-me-off. Castle Chimney contacted the tech support at the manufacturer though the original chimney company had been bought out. My final bill was $1872 - so Castle Chimney saved me thousands of dollars. There was a final Closing inspection and the work done by Castle Chimney was reported to be complete and excellent. I strongly recommend Castle Chimney for other house repair situations as I have since learned they do more than chimney work.

The provider came on the date scheduled. Pulled out wood insert, cleaned chimney. Also went on roof and inspected chimney. I've used this company numerous times.

Stuart always arrives on time or early . He diagnosed the pinhole problem right away, caulked the area and cleaned out the gutter that was contributing to the problem. His fee was more than reasonable. I have been fortunate to have Stuart take care of my chimney needs for 15 years and he always exceeds my expectations.

It's a small company. They were prompt, professional, explained options and were very good a communicating what the issues were and the best ways to resolve them.

We have used them for more than five years. They have great customer service, they are on time, and they confirmed appointments before they arrive. They are careful with your house and they never leave a mess. The staff is friendly, professional, and do a great job. They remind you when your chimney needs to get cleaned. They have great deal and I would recommend the annual inspection contract.

Stuart called ahead to let me know when he would be arriving. He arrived on time. He covered the path from the front door to the living room to protect it. He completely vacuumed out all the debris in the chimney then proceeded to do an inside and outside inspection. He found some areas of concern on the outside of the chimney and took some pictures to show me. He documented his concerns and told me he would follow up with me once he checked into some things. He assured me that everything was in working order and that the chimney was solid. Stuart is very professional, very knowledgeable, and very polite. He has done some repair work for me before and I would not hesitate to hire him again. His work is top notch.

The experience was a very positive one. The owner and all of his employees were courteous, polite, and knowledgable. They were honest and conscientious, and did exactly what they said they would do, when they said they would, and how they said they would.

The owner showed up as scheduled, set up a ladder, looked at the two chimneys and gave me a written estimate. I gave him a check for half and the job was scheduled by his office. Remember those 4 straight days of rain? The rain delayed the job a couple of days, but they called me daily to let me know. The entire process was right at 2 weeks. The two-man crew showed up as promised on all 3 days. They worked efficiently and didn't make a mess of any sort, even though they were doing the reline with a 40-foot flexible stainless tube and multiple bags of concrete mix, etc. The larger of the 2 jobs was relining a 97-year-old chimney for the boiler and then capping it. It had to be done because the old clay liner was broken. The job also involved repointing some brickwork. The smaller job was installing a top sealing chimney damper on the front chimney. I have already recommended them to friends.

Great service. They called before appointment time to inform me of their expected arrival time which was earlier than the appointment time. They made sure that their cloth covered everything that may get dirty from the soot. Everything was picked up and clean when they were finished.

Wow, what a great business! I hired this company to fix my chimney. My house is nearly 75 years old and the chimney had seen better days. The owner came, inspected the chimney, showed me the damage that needed repairing and gave me a very detailed estimate on what was needed to bring the chimney into the 21st century. Based on my work schedule we set a target date for work to begin. His crew showed up on time, worked very quietly (I work at home so that was very important to me), were neat, polite and respectful of my home. The entire project took five days and at the end of each day, one of the guys on the crew told me what they had accomplished that day and told me what would be done the following day.They finished on time. The work they did required a city inspection, which they passed with flying colors. I asked the inspector about this particular company. He told me "they always do great work. If I needed this sort of work done, they'd be the ones I would call..."The cost was definitely not cheap, but I rated them an "A" anyway, because the quality of the work was definitely worth the price. One delighted customer!

We called Castle Chimney to repair a chimney cap and sweep the chimney. They came out the next day after we called them and they even called prior to arriving to let us know they were on the way. Stuart and David were courteous and professional. They made sure to sure to cover up the floors of the house so not to make a mess. Stuart was very informative and taught us a lot about our chimney and gas logs. He didn't pressure us for any extra work. We would definitely call him again!

Stuart arrived on time and did an inspection of the chimney. He was thorough and professional and the cost was very reasonable. Castle Chimney will be doing all our future chimney inspections and cleanings.

The company's tech went to our house to inspect the chimney flues and provide an estimate of repair costs. The estimate was hand written, not well organized, and difficult to follow. One of the flues was priced using a 12and quot; liner. All other estimates specified using 11and quot; liners in both flues. The company that performed the service re-verified that 11and quot; liners were required for both flues. This type of discrepancy is not comforting. In addition, after the inspection was done, the tech reported that the dead bolt on the basement door would not engage. Our agent was in the house the evening before and used that door and locked it prior to leaving. The door in question is an Andersen french door. The lock engages when you lift up on the handle and turn the dead bolt mechanism counter clockwise while the handle is up. Instructions were on the glass portion of the door adjacent to the lock set. We sent a locksmith to the house the same day and he reported that an internal part of the dead bolt had been 'stripped' and that this can occur when too much pressure is applied when trying to engage the dead bolt. The locksmith also reported that there were plier marks on the handle used to engage the dead bolt. We spent $122.00 to repair the damage. It is possible that this was coincidental. It is also possible that the tech was in a hurry. Castle has a good reputation according to other reports. Unfortunately, our experience did not match up, and we were not comfortable with hiring them to repair out chimney.

.They arrived promptly to do the estimate, which was very thorough. They took time to answer the questions I had. They also told me that a permit would be required and that that service would be part of their work. The office called me the day before the work was scheduled to start, to remind us and make sure our schedule had not changed. They also called in the morning of each of the two days they were here, to let me know they were in route. They were very careful with my furnishings. Chimney repair is a messy business at best, and they were careful protect my furniture from ashes and soot, and they carefully cleaned up each day before they left. I expected lots of dust and mess, but had no trouble with it at all. They reminded me that the inspector was coming the next day to review their work, and actually called the inspector for me to help me coordinate my schedule with his. Overall, we were very satisfied with this work, and would use this company again.

Called on 8-31 after Hurricane Irene hit Richmond to get chimney inspected and cleaned. (Due to water leaking during hurricane, I wanted to see if we could get it fixed before further issues arrived). I had no power on 8/31, so Castle Chimney originally scheduled for 9/6 to ensure I had power before coming out. We ended up getting power back on 9/2 and when I called the office back - they were able to bump my appt up to the next day (Saturday). Stuart came out on time, and was extremely professional. He cleaned the chimney and did the visual inspection (which I originally asked for) then explained the video inspection. I opted for the video inspection on the spot (a different of about 40 bucks). He spent alot of time explaining the ins and outs of what he found and even showed me bits of creosole that had burned up in the chimney. I was able to watch the video inspection while he performed it (but he didnt have his memory card so couldnt take still pics from that portion). he was able to get plenty of digital pictures however, of the outside portion including the flashing and crown. He reviewed all photos of the outside of the chimney and explained what needed to be done to fix the water issue. (flashing needed fixing, cap was cracked, and enternal liner needed replacing). He gave me a full estimate in writing as well as had his office email all the digital pictures the following week. Since we are leasing the house, I send all the information back to the homeowner, and let them make their decision. (Homeowner is still getting additional quotes on the repairs Stuart gave me an estimate for). I would highly recommend Castle Chimney Sweeps for any Chimney work and will keep him in mind for any future work we have once we buy the house.

Stuart at Castle Chimney showed up on time to give us an estimate and took the time to actually show us what needed to be done and he explained everything in detail. The two guys who actually did the work arrived on time each day of the 4 they were at our house. They were very professional and extremely courteous. Each day they completely cleaned up any mess that they made inside and out and were really careful in the fact that they laid down clean drop cloths to cover everything in the area they were working. As soon as they were done Stuart came to inspect their work and to take pictures and he called the building inspector to approve the work. The office staff was very professional and courteous and made this whole process very easy. This is the best experience I have ever had with any company and I would definitely recommend Castle Chimney to anyone who needed chimney cleaning or repair.

Guys showed when expected. Did the job in a timely and efficient manner. Any questions I had before or during the job was answered promptly by the owner, Stewart.
