Description of Work: Description on invoice did not match work actually done. | |One item being: "Furnish and install new 9 volt batteries then clean and test 4 existing smoke alarms." Price: $100. In fact, they simply and quickly installed new batteries, which I provided, in 3 units. Next item: Assemble and install 5 new customer supplied light fixtures. Price: 41.75 each, total: $208.75. In fact, they replaced 3 fixtures: 2 in kitchen and 1 outside the garage door. An over charge of $83.50. Next: Assemble and install one customer supplied ceiling fan and install one fan light. Cost: $85.60. There was no fan to be installed/assembled as the existing unit worked great. I did want to add a light which I was told by another electrician would need to be the same brand in order to work. Because I could not find a brand name on the fan, I asked the worker to check the compatibility of the fixtures and, if the same, install. I was out of the room when they dove into this and, essentially, installed a fixture that did not fit. I assumed they had tested it before leaving. When we turned it on later that evening, the metal arms and brackets of the fan blades crashed into the glass shade, chipping the glass, nicking the metal, and rendering the fan unusable. When I called, the worker said it "might not fit and we might not be able to have a light." I replied this would be ok, as long as he kept the silver wire cover which was on the fan before they started. He said he didn't know if he had it or not. Because he didn't leave this here, and the light fixture was already ruined, we knew we would need another fan. Though he offered to come back and see what they could do, we decided to go with someone else to replace the entire unit. The cost of this was $85.60--essentially, for nothing. | |As I had an appointment and was in a rush as they prepared to leave, I hurriedly wrote a check for the total amount. Later, when my husband & I went over it, we saw that we were overcharged and wrote a note to the owner detailing what was done, what we were charged, what we paid, and the amount we feel is owed us as a refund. | |The check was cashed and, at this point, we are not expecting that refund. In the past, the owner--Jeff Warren--had done work for us which was excellent and fairly priced. Quite a disappointment.
