Asked for a standard quote for a hot water heater replacement. Stated he would match the Depot price and do a better job. Shows up 4 hours later and jacks up the price 50%!! Argumentitive about the job, keeps yellling to just pay him and give "me the credit card number". Goes on an on about how his guys have been at work since 7a.m and it is now 10pm, really none of my concern. Would never recommend Ron's for anything, not trustworthy at all, actually very deceptive.
Description of Work: Absolutely no customer service. Extremely defensive on the phone, kept stating to "give me the credit card so i can get paid".

First, they sent a sub-contractor without advising us in advance that this would be the case! When the man arrived we had to supply him with extension cords and my 75 year old husband had to find and dig out by himself the access ports! He was here for less than 1 1/2 hours. His charge represents a cost of over $311 an hour. ABSURD! We would NEVER use these people again! WE ARE NOW CONFIRMED "A-RATING ON ANGIE'S LIST" ONLY PEOPLE!

It went horrible. They did not show up at the time. We called and they said they would be late. Two days later, they finally showed up. A couple days after they fixed it the toilet, it started shifting and wobbling. Also, on the receipt, it said toilet was secure and the base of the toilet had been caulked to prevent shifting. There is one year warranty for the work. When I called them back, they were very rude, refused to come out to take a look at all and hang up on me. For the whole job, they charged us $75 for service call,$30 for parts, $125 for labor. Now we have to call another plumber to fix what they messed up.
Description of Work: We had a minor leaking on our toilet and called them to fix it.

We hired Ron's Plumbing a few days prior to Christmas because of a leak under our kitchen sink. They said that there was mold and that if we didn't fix it ASAP our young children would get very sick. Therefore, they quoted us a very high price in order to get it done quickly, $2,381. We signed a contract for them to complete the necessary services, including fixing the leak, drying out the wood and repairing the damage from the leak. We also provided them our credit card information. They said that they wouldn't charge our card the full amount until all of the work was complete. The next day they showed up and removed the wet wood under our sink and left (at that time they charged our card the full amount). They said that they would be back to fix the leak and and at that time would bring restoration equipment to dry the wood and get rid of the mold. They never showed up. Christmas came and went. We called after Christmas day and let them know that we still need the source of the problem fixed (the leak) and more importantly the wood to be dried out to get rid of the mold so they could proceed to do the repairs. They said that they would come out that day, the 26th. They did not show and in fact sent us several text messages throughout the day from about 10 am to 6:21 p.m. that they were in route to our house. The last one was that their van broke down. It was excuse after excuse. After calling the owner, Ron, and inquiring as well with their other employee, Jim, whom we were corresponding via text the previous day, they refused to come to our house and fix the issue. The 27th they refused our calls and still didn't show up. At that point we contacted our credit card company and let them know what transpired and disputed the charges. Once Ron received notification that we were disputing the charges he responded to the card company with a letter, every single sentence of which was a lie. That we refused them to come in our house, that they did fix the leak etc. It was APPALLING! It doesn't even make sense especially considering that our children's health was at risk. Thank goodness we saved all the documentation of their text messages, invoice from another plumber who ended up fixing the leak and repairing the damage as well as the second sheet of the contract that he failed to provide to the credit card company that his company was under a contractual obligation to dilligently pursue completing the job. This company is FRAUDULENT and borderline criminal and should lose their license. They took advantage of the fact we had small children and it was around Christmas time. I hope that the BBB takes this complaint seriously as well as the plumbing licensure board. I hope that this will prevent someone else from being scammed. THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD AND COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT OF PROVIDING ANY SERVICE, LET ALONE PLUMBING AND RESTORATION!!
Description of Work: They were SUPPOSED to provide plumbing and restoration services. None of which were provided unfortunately. They were supposed to repair a small slow leak under our kitchen sink, remove and dry out the moldy wood and fix all corresponding damage resulting from the leak.

I thought my main sewer line was broken, one of the guys dug the hole whcih took about 20 minutes 2X3 hole about 2 1/2 feet deep. The line was not broken but the connection on the terracotta pipe were loose. He recommended replacing the whole sewer line for about $3500.00 but said a tempory fix would be to use morter on the joint. He bought a $3.00 bag of morter and dumped it in the hole. Total time less than one hour and a bill for $300.00, seems excessive to me.

They took up the job without hesitation and did excellent work. It was the week of the hurricane, Irene. I would use them again in the future if necessary.
Description of Work: I had a tree fall on the house, and the hot water tank went out, so I used Ron’s Plumbing to install a water heater for me. They actually picked up the water heater, brought it to me and installed it.

He came out on the day he was supposed to, but was 2 hours late. It took him 3 hours to complete work (including leaving house for an hour to grab a gas shutoff key for fireplace). He charged us $630. When I asked him to resubmit the bill broken down with labor and supplies he refused, stating he only charges a flat fee per job. He did concede that the materials for the job probably cost less than $30. When I informed him that I thought $200 per hour was excessive for a plumber he became very defensive.

The plumber did not show up the day we called but the next day. Work was performed but bill did not represent what was discussed on the phone for the original evaluation/diagnostic.
Description of Work: Make sure you get a quote in writing. I was quoted one price over the phone for an evaluation/diagnostic and they increased the price when I was given the bill.

It went fine, he wasn't the most polite person, but he did his work, in a seemingly thorough fashion, and left. I was trying to just get an estimate and he wanted me to sign for him to get started on the work right away, which I wouldn't do. He overestimated the entire job by about $70 (including the $20 off coupon from the phone book).
Description of Work: He tightened the packing knot and replaced the supply line on one toilet to fix a leak. He replaced the stopper and supply lines on our pedestal sink. Apparently, when we had worked on the sink before, the supply lines we used were cheap and the stopper was plastic and broke while he was working on it.

I scheduled an appointment to have two valves replaced for 3 PM on 19 June. The plumber did not show up at the scheduled time. I contacted the plumber and was told that they would try to get to my house later that evening. At 6:30 PM, I contacted the plumber again and was told that they would not be able to come to my house, but I was able to schedule another appointment for 7:30-8:00 AM on 20 June. By 9:00 AM, the plumber had still not arrived. My wife called the company and was given the cell number of the plumber that was supposed to do the work. On calling that number, she was given another number. The second number was answered by a girl that said that, "the plumber will be back in a little bit and I'll have him call you." My wife called the company back, explaining that we had a major water leak at the house which was causing damage to the flooring and walls and she needed to know if the company could get a plumber there within the next 30 minutes. This does not seem unreasonable since we had already been waiting more than 12 hours from our first appointment. Ron, the owner, started yelling at my wife and became belligerent. My wife told him that his services were not needed and we would find another plumber. He continued to yell at her until she hung up on him. I called the company immediately after this and Ron immediately starting ranting about my wife and started yelling at me. I responded in kind. I have never been screamed at when I am trying to contract services from a company because they couldn't meet an appointment. This is the worst customer service I have ever witnessed.
Description of Work: No services were ever performed.
