Roberts Electric Company LLC

Roberts Electric was hired by my builder to provide electrical services to my new home. I found them to be personable at first. There was quite a bit of bickering between the two sons on the job. However the big problem arose when I discovered they ran all the electrical wiring for the second floor without any inspections from city building inspectors. Because the builder did not disclose to the city that he was building out the second floor of the modular home on his building permit, the city was unaware the second floor was being built on site instead of being part of the modular delivered to the site. Roberts electric started work in late October 2010 and did not apply for their permit until the second floor was dry walled and paint on November 14 2010. They purposely delayed getting their permit until after the second floor appeared finished. No rough in inspections were scheduled for the second floor wiring. It was all covered up. When I discovered what happened, I had the city building officials inspect the work as best they could. The house ended up getting approximately 9 code violations of which 2 where for the electrical system. These violations were minor in my opinion, but the fact that Roberts Electric did not do what was in the best interest of me, the home owner, I think they need to rethink their loyalty to the real customer, not the builder who wants to short cut the system designed to protect the public. I hired another electric company to fix the violations. I can actually say if Robert Electric had not delayed getting their permit and called in the required inspections, the city would have discovered the builder was building the second floor without permit coverage. But they appeared to have played along with the builder like the other sub contractors on the job. I hope this is the only review they ever receive like this because, I feel they are a family business with a lot of potential. I would ask them to be true to their integrity in the future and they will do fine. I never received any apology from them for their part in this deception that cost me so much money and time. If I had had one honest contractor on the job, this would have not been able to continue. The review process is the victims only recourse against bad subcontractors. I could only sue my builder, which is what I did, and he settled out of court, which I consider somewhat of a win.
