It turned out well and it was a good experience. They were very quick and professional.

The technician came to our house with a day of us calling... We were new customers and were not sure what to expect. The provider was very professional - wore shoe covers in our house and took care of the probelm within an hour of arrival. We were very pleased and will defnitely call on them again if we need anything.

We had a leak in our upstairs shower drain and th drain had to be replaced. It took about two hours to do the job but it cost a small fortune. In addition, we had to then hire a contractor to replace and replaster the ceiling hole that was cut in order for the plumber to replace the drain.

He knew what he was needed to repair and he was professional.

This company turned out to be a good company. After my bad experience the owner contacted us direectly and made sure that the job was redone to our satisaction. The new tech was ontime and worked quickly and professionally. I am a very satisfied customer and would use this company again when needed. They stand behind their work 100%.

They were punctual and were able to come out the same day. They were responsive and professional but the price was so expensive that I wouldn't use them again.

Michael and Sons have all of the appearances of a very professional service company. I enlisted them to plumb a sink and dishwasher. They arrived on time, booties on feet and the staff were very professional and got to work. They incorporate a "price list" so the price for any work comes off the list regardless of how long it actually takes them to complete the work. The work was completed at least to my initial satisfaction. However I started thinking about the price and realized the hourly charge calculated on the fact that there were no parts included and the time the worker was here was outrageous. I called the company and the owner called me back. It turns out that the worker quoted the incorrect price (quoted the price for sink installation rather than just the plumbing of a sink & disposal). The owner refunded all the overcharged amount. The main problems with this experience was: 1. If I hadnt called and complained, I would have been grossly overcharged. I would have rated them much higherif they had found the mistake and fixed it rather than my having to worry over it prior to calling. Most people may accept being significantly overcharged.2. The work performed has had to be re-done since. The disposal was plumbed poorly and I had to have someone else repair it within 6 months. In the same time period, the dishwasher came loose (they tried to use glue to attach it to the granite countertops and it came loose - again within 6 months. I had to have another company come out to repair.

Old Review: Michael and Son's is very responsive and their individual technicians are punctual, professional and appear to know their stuff. My only concern is that I feel they are trained to sell services before really needed. I'm all about being preventive but back in April when M&S did our annual heat pump/AC inspection we were informed that two of our heat pumps needed: a. freon recharging and b. replacement. We were presented with an estimate for all the work (recharging and replacement). That was back in April - we did nothing, mainly because we couldn't afford, at the time, to do anything. Since then, we've had no difficulty with either of the "problem" heat pumps - even through the very hot months we've experienced this summer (2012). I just have this gut feeling that their technicians while very good, are pressured to sell. This makes me much less likely to trust their recommendations. As a result, I'm considering returning to our previous AC company "Classic Air Care" - no high pressure sales and reliable service. So, while I would recommend Michael and Son's for their service, I'm reluctant to recommend them for service contracts. I'm not too thrilled with their "business model". Update a/o 01.23.13 - Soon after I posted this review on Angie's List, I was contacted by a Michael & Son's representative. He was concerned about my review. I was given the opportunity share my concerns - without judgement. We then spent some time talking about our needs and the process Michael & Son's uses to provide "proactive" service. By the end of the conversation, I felt much better about working the Michael & Son's. I'm glad they called and followed-up on my review. It made a big difference in my perspective. Friday 8/3/12 Our old Ac just plain died of natural causes... Friday afternoon Mark from Michael and son came out to give us a estimate .. my husband i talked about when he got home at 4pm... at 6pm i called Mark and asked him to come by and let us get the repair process started. Mark knew we where with out Ac and it was about 100 degrees out .. So Mark went and got a fewh AC units for the windows to keep us comfortable untill the work was finished.. What a great Idea.. Take care of the customers first I loved it! The work couldnt start untill a plumber was called too move my water heater to make room for the New Units.. They took care of it for us no need for us to call around at all ! (8/8/12) Thursday 8/9/12 Tom and Rodrick called and introduced themselves and said they where on their way.. within 30 mins they where here ready to work. They took their time to listen to our concerns and they addressed everyone of themThey worked Friday and Saturday all day long in that hot attic meticulously going over every bit of my duct work pulling out a section at a time..(Very small attic you cant even stand up half way in it)Monday the same On time and ProfessionalTuesday they finished the job and fired up the Ac and New Heatpump .. we got a good look into that small attic area (Before my duct work looked like a broken dusty 25yr+ Jigsaw Puzzle, but now it looks like a Piece of Art! They even had the forthought of putting the duct work out of the way so any work in the future would not damage it. They where Courteous,Prompt, and Respectful of my household itemsI have Antiques in the house each day the men would moved them to a safe spot and before they left each eveing they put them back. They always cleaned up and before they left told us what had done that day and what they expected to get done the next day so we always where well informed. I can not say enough good things about these HVAC guys *Tom and Rodrick* where wonderful workers!MONEY WELL SPENT!

Overall I am pleased with the service, the people and the result. The price was high but alas, I needed it done and they did as advertised.

While doing a self-help project, the shower faucet broke off at the pipe in the wall. This required us to shut off the main water valve to the entire house. Thinking we could wait an extra day for Monday service we made an early appointment with another company. They pushed off our appointment to later in the afternoon and then canceled due to an "emergency job". We called Michael & Son that same evening and they were at our house first thing Tuesday. Eric did a great surveying of the situation. Since he had to cut into the wall on the other side of the shower to access the pipe, he asked if we wanted shut off valves installed to avoid a repeat whole-house shut off situation. The estimate for the entire job came in within our expected cost. Eric explained each step and did the install exactly as discussed. The entire job was done professionally and Eric cleaned up superbly afterwards. I will definitely use Michael & Son services again (if needed) and will recommend them to anyone looking for excellent plumbing service.

Very disappointing. I was given a 4 hour appointment window and was told someone would call when the technician was en route. After waiting those 4 hours no one called or showed up for appointment. I contacted the office and was told someone would be on their way shortly. When the tech finally arrived he did not apologize for the inconvenience and seemed quite upset when I informed him that the $89 service charge was supposed to be waived, due to failure to call or arrive during set appointment time. His assessment of the ductwork repair and cost may have been fair, but the overall experience was very poor.

Folks, This job started out Horrible... Delays, bad work, damage to some areas,box put in wrong wall and did Not pass inspection. it is at this point i would have given them a F rating, however the following occured. (I am not sure if guy was new or not who did this work) The Manager personally called me and left me his cell # to keep in contact with him while he sorted this outHe then stayed in contact with me throughout the entire process and answered any questions i had.Mr.Kiser is this managers name. Mr.Kiser then sent Mr.TOM KELLEY an (Electrican) who represented his company well out too my house. He Found the problem and redid the job the correct way and it passed inspection. Any Damage that occured they fixed. i didnt pay a cent more then what my contract stated. This company blew me away with how they deal with Errors. I never expected to be so well treated. It was if i was their only customer and it was their job to see that i was happy with it. *Personal opinion*If you want too save money and you dont care how the job looks when its done .. then Dont call this company. But if you want to be sure that the job is done right and too your satisfaction then i suggest you call Michael & Son. A Good company is easy to find, But A Great company reconizes it made a mistake and corrects them. I am fully comfortable with recomending this company and giving them a A rating for their outstanding efforts in correcting this error.

Mr. Tabron of Michael and Son called before coming and gave an aproximate time he would arrive. He arrived within the time he gave and took the time to put a mat down and put on shoe covers to protect my floors. He asked questions about my kitchen lighting problems and quickly took the time to check issues and review the issues with me. He narrowed down the problem and explained what was needed. He told me what my options were and answered questions about alternative choices. He was very effecient in making the needed repairs, checked my main electrical box and then informed me of everything I needed to know.It was especially beneficial to have him tell me of new approaches on the market that would help in protecting all the electronics in my home. He also told me of other services Michael and Son Services performs and left me a folio with his business card for me to call if I had any issues with the repair or needed further service.On service alone this was well worth the time and cost. They’re fine. They do what they say they will, and they call before they come out. They’re not the cheapest, but they actually do what they’re supposed to do. They’re good people and do a good job overall.

They’ve done very good work overall. I’m on a monthly plan of theirs. It’s $49 a month. I have a 1951 single family home, so when my tenants have an issue, they call them to fix it. I never see a bill unless a part was needed.

Absolutely pleased with the service! I purchased a new light switch and timer for my bathroom, anticipating a quick DIY over the weekend, but after removing the wall plate I found a mess of wires and learned that there were additional things connected through the switch (bedroom outlets and overhead lights). With not much free time and not wanting to get in over my head, I called M&S the following Monday afternoon (first opportunity I could get after a busy morning of meetings). The operator/dispatcher was extremely courteous and professional. To my surprise and delight, they were able to send a truck out that very afternoon. The electrician that showed up was also extremely courteous and professional. After showing him the work to be performed, he said that it was not a problem, gave me an estimate, and got started right away after I agreed to the services. I was tremendously impressed by his speed and competence. He was respectful of my house, wearing little paper booties over his boots as he was working and cleaning up after he was finished. I had to listen to a little bit of an advertising spiel for some other products and services that M&S offers, and the price, while I don't feel is exorbitant for the work performed, was probably a bit higher than if I had shopped around for an electrician. However, for the same-day service, professionalism, and speed, I feel it was worth paying a bit of a premium. When completed, I felt confident that the work was performed with a high degree of quality and that M&S would stand behind the work. They offer a five-year warranty on all electrical labor. I have a feeling that M&S is going to do great business and continue to grow here in the Hampton Roads area if they keep up this high standard of service.

I was so very pleased with this experience. I will call Michael and Son for everything that needs repair in my home.They appreciate my business and I appreciate them.

I'm just not happy with them. They always take longer than they should, and it has cost more than it should, yet it has not been fixed. One of the technicians didn't even know how to work the thermostat. A technician also came out to clean out the toilets and the tubs. He told me he may have to dig up the line. He came back a day or so later and told me that the sewer line was corroded and that he would have to take it out and replace it. He dug up my front yard, busted the water line before replacing it. The busted the meter, which the city had to come out to replace. It took 7 days before that work got done. My bill was $6,000. I feel I was taken advantage of. They have done nothing good for me. I will not be renewing my contract with them.

All the problems were satisfactorily corrected. It passed the home inspection.

Their service was fine. They came into my place where the toilet wouldn’t stop running. They replaced a small plastic tube and charged me $180.00.

They did an excellent job all the way around. They had almost a fair price.

Their service was great. They do try to develop a relationship over time knowing that you may need additional services. They offer a variety of services. I liked their approach on becoming familiar with you. They took a grass roots or family approach. They were a little higher price than the other people we evaluated, but their service makes up for that.
