+ -1 moreThe head gasket on my son's 98 Chevy S-10 truck had to be replaced. I opted to do the job myself to save money. The engine head had to be tested for stress cracks and checked for warping. And I want to had a valve job done while the head was off the engine. I called several different machine shops and choose Magnum Machine because they quoted $200-$250 with a estimate of 2-3days to do the job. The head passed the stress tests and was not warped. Magnum Machine was able to do the valve job within a day and had the head ready before the promised time for a total cost of $200.
