JT Plumbing & Improvements

Called JT Plumbing. They were able to come out and take a look fairly quickly. I requested a written quote for insurance purposes as the well pump was inoperable due to water damage from the Hurricane. They had me email them to remind them. I did so twice and never received a call or an email back. Very disappointed with follow-up and lack of professionalism. I gave them a D, and not an F, because they did come out fairly quickly to take a look for the estimate.

They were fine. We experienced no issues. They did the work requested and were very polite. They were also prompt, professional, and efficient. I would recommend their services.

I want to document the great customer service and excellent work provided by JT Plumbing. I have a friend staying as a care taker in my house in Chesapeake while I am in California taking care of my late mother?s estate. The pump lost prime while my friend was out of town over the weekend of July 25th and it appeared the pump may have burned up so there was no water upon her return. On July 28th my friend called Gildersleeve Plumbing to ask them to look at the pump. She told the technician, Corey, that she would need my approval before authorizing any work as I own the home. He performed the work without my authorization. He said the bill would be over a $1000.00 but he would have to write up the bill and call me with the final amount. He told my friend he also thought I needed to have a new well dug and that could run $8000.00 - $10,000.00. Although I was concerned about the work and the bill (almost $1,200.00) I paid by credit card by phone. I followed up with the company to advise Karen that I owned the house and had not authorized the work before Corey did it. Karen acknowledged that the work should not have been done without owner authorization. Less than an hour later, I received a call from my friend that the new pump had stopped working and that when she contacted Gildersleeve, Corey said I needed a new well. He did not offer to return and check his work or consider any other possibility. In the meantime I looked up my Angie?s List account and found that JT Plumbing had replaced the pump less than a year ago. I wanted to check with JT to see if the original pump might still be under warranty. Also I had been extremely happy with JT?s expertise; knowledge and reasonable price when he had done the other work (see my report written in August 2009). I called JT and he said he would go out and see what was wrong and get back to me. I advised him I would prefer he do the work as there was still no water. I called Gildersleeve back and told Karen of my dissatisfaction and that there was still no water and that I wanted the original plumber from last year to look at the bad pump and see if it was covered by any warranty. I reiterated that Corey had performed work before getting my authorization and the work was not satisfactory and Corey?s only response was to say I needed a new well. JT called me the next day (July 29th). He had removed the pump and tank installed by Gildersleeve Plumbing and had called their office to have someone pick up the pump and tank Corey had installed. JT then did the work replacing the pump and tank (the pump could not be repaired as it run for so long without water it had burned up). He found a leak in the line from the well to the pump which is what caused the pump to lose prime initially. The well was not bad. JT charged $300.00 less than the original amount charged by Gildersleeve and his cost included the repair to the pipe in addition to the pump and tank replacement. Where JT was genuinely concerned with getting water flowing again, the impression I got from Gildersleeve Plumbing was a company interested in maximizing the expense and not concerned with ensuring the plumbing problem was fixed. I would HIGHLY recommend JT to take care of any plumbing problem. It is obvious that he is very experienced and knowledgeable about plumbing. Even before he was able to come out and assess the situation he advised me that he thought the well was okay and that most likely the problem was a leak in the line from the well to the pump. He was right. He offered a very reasonable rate and was even willing to do the work and let me mail him a check to make sure my friend got water back as soon as possible. JT epitomizes the best in technical workmanship, quality and concern.

It was a very positive expereince. JT did a GREAT job. I am currently in California and had to work with my friend who is living in the house as a care taker. She called me on Thursday evening to advise the pump had stopped working and she did not have any water to the house. A neighbor had checked out the pump and said it needed repair or probably replacement. I asked Wendy to check with my normal plumber of Tony and Son the next morning but we also checked Angie's List for references for businesses who handled problems with well pumps. I was not able to use Tony and son as he did not have experience with well pumps. Wendy checked with three other businesses including JT and they each provided estimates. JT's estimate turned out to be the best estimate but that was not the only reason I asked hime to do the work. He was willing to do the job and wait for payment until I could mail a check even though he had never met me or done any work for me. Once I authorized JT to do the job, he came back out on Friday and performed the installation of the new pump quickly and efficiently. He also replaced whatever pipes needed to be redone to make the installation complete. JT provided GREAT service and did an EXCELLENT job in replacing the pump. He was polite, friendly and even gave me a military discount. I now feel I have a person to whom I can turn with any problems related to my well. I would DEFINITELY use his services again and HIGHLY recommend him to other people.

The new pump that they installed has worked great and they were able to install it in an easy manner. I have used them for plumbing issues and I like that they were very convenient to use them. I also like that they are not hard to get out here and do the work that I need them to do.

This was one of the best repair jobs we have witnessed. The plumber was called at nine in the morning, he was at the residence by ten thirty, and the job was completed by noon. He was a very nice man, with an outgoing personality, and the area that he had been working in, was dry and clean when he left. The price was amazingly low, as well.
