The job took a little longer than expected because the carpenter ran into some problems he hadn't expected. However, he came back (after a short illness) and finished the job beautifully.

The project started in mid June and basically, it ended up being a 6 month project. As always, projects like this took longer than I wanted - but in the grand scheme of a projet like this - 6 months was reasonable. I made a couple of changes along the way which affected the timeline as well - but overall I was pleased.

They did start off fine. Although as soon as I showed interest, they started pushing to book the project. They started the project on time. They had said that there will be 4-6 guys working. But there was only one person taking out old and putting in the new 7 doors! And it did take him quite a bit time to do it. They also did not align my door frames properly. They never told me and when I noticed and asked then they explained that it happens ! Couple the doors does not seem to fit that well but overall the doors seems fine. The finishing was quite poor. They left lot of patches where they did not paint. They forgot to drill hole for one of the locks ! I had to call them multiple times to finally get the person back for final touch-ups. However, the main problem happened after the recent hurricane. There was water dripping in through one of the doors. This was the main reason I had them change the doors to begin with. So I did call them the next day. Then I called them again multiple times. It is been 2 months and no one has shown up to look at it. I think this is ridiculous. It is a fairly big project. They give you 5 years of gurantee for their work (which is less than lifetime with some companies), but they won't respond just 2 months into the project. So I am still waiting and hope we might have someone take look at it before next hurricane.

Our bathroom remodel started with a desire to be rid of a very small and dysfunctional fiberglass shell shower. We wanted a walk-in style shower, doorless (which means quite large to alleviate splash), and had plenty of room in which to create one. We contacted a number of contractors for bids, deciding on Jerry Harris after ruling out others for various reasons. We already had custom made ceramic sinks, created by a master potter specifically for us. The sinks drove color and texture choices throughout the bathroom. We met with JH's architect/designer for preliminary plans and budget, and proceeded from there. We had already mocked up a design of our own, and ended up using that design with a slight modification recommended by JH. As the work progressed, we ran into a few snags... when we were able/encouraged to meet with suppliers on our own, we did so in a timely manner and things went fairly smoothly. When we had to go through JH as a liaison between ourselves and suppliers, there seemed to be some real communication problems. They were all eventually worked out to our satisfaction, but the process getting there was quite painful at times, and also quite costly. In one particular instance we went over by almost 3x the initial quote (from about $2.5k to over $6k!), because of poor communication and procrastination, even after multiple inquiries by us as to when it would be addressed. While I recommend JH for the quality of work they provide, I highly encourage anyone who hires them to insist on meeting with suppliers yourselves to work out details. There were two people in particular that we didn't feel were doing a great job, but everyone else who worked on the project was fantastic! We especially give kudos to Mike D, who came in several weeks after our job had started because our foreman got sick. Mike was attentive, knew what he was doing, asked the right questions, and was all about doing the job correctly - to the point that he had some of the plumbing redone that had already been completed, but hadn't initially been done in the best way to accommodate two shower heads flowing at the same time. Another person who did an excellent job was our tile guy, Matt (don't know his last name). In short, we are very happy with the finished product. The quality of workmanship is excellent! We will definitely hire JH again in the future, but next time we will insist on meeting ALL suppliers ourselves so that we can ensure that communication and pricing are where we need them to be.

Larry was leading and did most of the work. They were very professional and did a wonderful job. Larry was very diligent, punctual and worked his back off to get the job done.

They are efficient and fast. They have competitive pricing.

I've used Jerry Harris for major kitchen remodeling, new floor installations, storm damage and exterior and interior painting over the last 3 years. They send a professional engineer to your home to give you and estimate; and if you like, you can sign, pay a deposit and get on their calendar all in the same visit. During and after each project their were visits by project managers to view the daily progress. Each worker was like a member of my family--Treating my wife and I well and offering helpful suggestions and patiently handling our questions. When the hurricane came through last year and damaged our roof they gave us preferrential treatment and came out the next morning to cover the damaged areas until they could make permanent repairs to the roof and resulting water damage inside. He runs and excellent organization with professional staff. I know they are not the cheapest. But I trust their competence and feel comfortable with them in my home. I'll continue to use them.

Price quoted was too high. They were persistant, but since the price was too high we decided not to use them.

They didn’t hit all their benchmark deadlines. My overall experience with them has been fine.

The company was outstanding overall. My project was small yet they treated me like I was their most important customer from the moment I contacted them. They responded to my online inquiry quickly, sent someone out to assess the job and give me some information on the company and then completed the work very quickly while working around my schedule. The person who performed the actual work was there when he said he would be there, professional and very friendly. They made a very good impression on me.

I didn't actually use this company. I was looking for an estimate for taking out two possible load bearing pillars. His estimate seemed a little high. He was very respectful and on time.

I liked them but the price was a little more than what I wanted to spend. They were prompt and courteous and came right out when I called them. I did not use their services because of their high price quote.

1. THIS COMPANY WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT I COULD FIND THAT WAS WILLING TO INSTALL MY PORCH. 2. THE COST WAS VERY HIGH. 3. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO INSTALL THE PORCH WITH IN THE TIME ALLOTTED. 4. IT TOOK MONTHS FOR THEM TO RETURN MY DEPOSIT.

We are very happy with them. We have used them for several years. He was Jerry Harris and then he went with a franchise company and he is now again in business as Jerry Harris Remodeling. We had huge set nail pops in the new house with an occasional plaster blobs. We had nearly a hundred places ranging from three or four nail pops to areas as large as an entire wall because it was swirl plaster. It was a third of an entire wall. When it was repaired, it had to be repaired so that it matched the existing swirl pattern. After the plastering repairs, I wound up having to completely repaint the two bathrooms, the kitchen, and the bonus room. That was how much plaster had been messed up plus dozens of other smaller places where I just had to patch here and there. I did all the painting. I got a bid on the painting and that would have cost me about $2500.00. We have had them out for little projects when they with the franchise company. It is the same company and they have the same repair people. We go back to 1992 when they built a big addition on our previous home. They are on time, respectful, and responsible. They explain everything. They are very detailed. If there is any change, you get a piece of paper explaining the change and asking you if that is what you want them to do and giving the cost. Nothing that I ever had Jerry Harris' people do ever failed except one place in the old house. There was a crack in an adjacent wall when they had the addition put on. It appeared about eighteen months later. When I called Jerry, he said they would be right out. Those are the kind of people you want working on your house. The big repair contract was about $2700.00. There were a couple of things he looked at that required more. When his plaster guy came out to actually look at the plaster job, he went back to Jerry and he told him that it would take way more than two days, which is what Jerry had said. My estimator from Jerry's company called and told me that they would take themselves out of the equation. He said they would put me directly in touch with their plaster guy. Whatever their cut was of that job, they dropped it. They put me in straight in touch with their plaster guy. I dealt directly with their plaster guy and he charged me $1500.00 for five days work. Those five days were anywhere from 10 to 12 hour days. He spent about 60 to 70 hours here. That was $25.00 an hour. Jerry could have told me that it would take them five days instead of two and that they would have to contract for another $1000.00 or whatever, but he didn't do that. I will continue to use him in the future.

Excellent, as expected. We used Jerry Harris in 1992 to build an addition on our old house. In 2005 we decided to upgrade the heat-pump. The new heat pump installers said that the electrical line for the emergency back-up was never run from the box. We called Jerry, told him the problem, and he had the line installed-13 years after the job! Of course it was a subcontractor who cut the corner but Jerry stood behind the job. We have used Jerry for years for jobs large-two story addition-to small. The work is always done well and is well co-ordinated.

NEVER GOT THE WOULD NOT CONTACT THIS COMPANY EVER AGAIN

I think the total price included labor and time spent. They were to take two days and I had taken these days off from work. The first day they did not show up until 1pm and I expected them to be there at 8am. They gave excuses and said they were at another customer's pre-construction meeting. I did not appreciate this nor the fact that they did not call. The next day they left at 3pm claiming that the paint was still wet. I thought they would be here for two full days but that was not the case. I filled out a survey about the service and explained my issues with them and no one called me back. They still call asking if I need for work done and they will not remove me from the calling list.
