JD Miles & Sons Inc

Unfortunately my experience with JD Miles was very poor. I cannot state anything about the quality of their work because I could not even get them to call me back to setup an estimate. When I noticed I had a roof leak, I contacted a friend of mine to ask for a recommendation. My Friend works with JD Miles all the time and highly recommended them. My first call to JD Miles was on a Saturday. I left a voice message since their offices were closed. My second call to JD Miles was on the following Monday morning around 8:30 am. I talked with a receptionist that told me someone would be in touch with me in 1-2 days to setup a meeting for an estimate. I did not receive a call from them, so I tried them back on Thursday morning around 8:30 am. This was my third call to JD Miles and the second time I talked to a receptionist. At that time I was told the same thing. I should expect a call back in 1-2 days. On Friday afternoon when I still had not heard for JD Miles I asked my friend if he had a different roofing contractor recommendation. My friend still recommended JD Miles and gave me the number of their GM, so I could contact management directly. I waited until Monday morning to call the GM, just to give them the max amount of time to return my call. On my fourth call to JD Miles I talked to their GM, who told me I should get a call back later that day. I waited for that call backup until 10am on Tuesday morning. At this point I decided to look up two other highly rated roofing companies in the area and call them. By 10:30am, after a single phone call to each company I had two appointments setup for estimates. Each company was up front and told me it would be 3-4 weeks before the work would be completed. They were both back logged on jobs. I appreciated that and decided to schedule the appointments with each to get the ball rolling on my repair. As fate would have it at 10:45am on that Tuesday JD Miles finally contacted me. I told them that I had decided to go in a different direction and thanked them for the call. I am not sure if that was fair on my part or not, but up to this point they had not shown they could keep their word on something as simple as a phone call.

They are just great. They worked for us since the generation of our grandparents.

They are still giving the same good service since the first time we asked them to work for us.

After more time passed he finally sent the pictures . waited again. I called the manufacturer and was told they were making a part and would mail when done. Got a call saying they would mail to me and should arrive by Monday the 9th of Oct. ( First call was made August 18th) . Part arrived Friday the 6th. Called JD Miles contact person to schedule a repair date . When I had talked to him before he would not give a time line for the work to be done. Never heard back from him. Called him the 11th and got a quick return call back . He said they decided they would not do the work because I had expressed my displeasure at how slow they handled the request. I did not use bad language ever . Told him I was going to report them to the BBB and he said fine and hung up. Not once when I spoke to him did he seem concerned about the problem . The only time he called back in a timely manner was to say they would not do the work. I usually waited days and once it was a month and I had to call him. Terrible customer service!!! He did say they would have charged $250 first hour to do the work. I 'm sure they also did not want to do the work because it was a small job.

This provider is awesome! They stripped my roof of all old material and disposed of it without leaving behind a mess. They installed everything professionally and quickly without sacrificing quality of work. I got a lot for my money; felt, architectural shingles, drip edge, new vents, and new pipe collars. They also replaced any plywood that needed it. The installation crew all worked directly for Miles Roofing, not subcontracted workers like most other companies that gave me a bid. I would highly recommend this roofer to anyone who wants professional results at a reasonable price.

Miles Roofing has done an outstanding job for me over the years. I’ve heard nothing but great feedback from my neighbors for how good the new roof looks. Miles was able to put on the whole roof in one day and left no mess whatsoever. I had a GAF 25 year warranty roof put on. After a month of having the roof put on, they even sent out a supervisor to take a look for any leaks or problems with the roof and he was unable to find any. They were very punctual and the price to complete the roof was about $1000 less than most companies and even sometimes $3000 less than others. I would recommend them to anyone.

Sold our home and needed replacement of 2 pieces of fascia board per buyer request. We were in a hurry to have it done before appraisal and indicated this to John Martin(?) when he came out to give us an estimate on 5/13/2014. Estimate was $1,428.00 - 5% preferred customer for total of $1,356.00.This was on a Tuesday. We were told that the crew would be out either Monday or Tuesday of the following week. Monday came - no show. I called and asked if it would be the next day. Told that John would call us back. NO response. Tuesday came - no show - no calls. I again called them and was told that it was going to be done Wednesday - I did not speak to John. (Seems he is not in the office much). Cancelled and called 2 other companies rather than take a chance on them maybe coming or maybe not coming. Worked out better for us as the 2 other estimates were for $340.00 and $320.00 respectively - Big difference! Total lack of any customer service skills.

The Contractor installed new gutters, but of the incorrect color. The team just showed up without notice. The Contractor did replace the incorrect gutters with new gutters of the correct color. The installation team did a great job, cannot say enough good words. We gave the Contractor a and quot;Band quot; in responsiveness due to poor communications. However, we would recommend the company and are pleased with the work. The new, larger gutters (in certain areas) work very well during heavy rains.

Their service was outstanding. They are the best no matter what they do. Their prices are higher than the average company, but you get what you pay for. Their products are all top grade. It was well worth the price. The work looks great and we were pleased with the service. It was exactly what my wife wanted. The quality of their work was excellent and I was very happy with them. They were prompt, friendly, and easy to deal with.

Although the work was completed timely and "looked" ok, we had significant issues with leftover debris across the yard and driveway, resulting in a flat tire from a roofing nail. Most problematic, was the way in which the shingles were applied in the valleys. The roof was put on in 2006, and we had a major leak in 2012. Upon calling Miles to look at the leak, they said it would not be covered under any warranty, and that the upper 1/3 needed to be reshingled at a cost of nearly 1,500. I obtained a second opinion from a seasoned roofing specialist, who took one look at the roof and diagnosed the issue. the manner in which the valleys were trimmed was incorrect and allowed debris to flow under the shingles. Water then went further under the shingles and down into the attic and bedroom ceiling. He was able to fix ALL the valleys by correctly trimming them, which fixed the leak, at a cost of only $200. The leak was fixed and has been good ever since.

They were very nice and they did a good job. They were very punctual. They explain things very well. But I got a better offer from someone else. I took someone elses offer based from my gut feeling.

I highly recommend them, it went extremely well. From the owners down to the roofers themselves, they were superb.

The guys were excellent. Anything that I wanted, they did. I would rate them an A.

I will never call this company for anything and can not in good faith recommend them to anyone that asks. It's been almost two weeks without any contact or feedback from the estimator. I can only assume that our house wasn't good enough for them to work on. As a side note, we had other companies come out to look at the roof and we told that we only needed to repair the damaged area.

Contacted this company on Friday about problem. Monday morning received a call from contractor to schedule a time to come out. The gentleman came out just as he said he would, right on time. We showed him the problem and he went right to work. He had to crawl in a hot attic and up on a hot roof. He found the problem, explained and repaired. This company representative was very professional and very polite. This will be the company we will call for any future roofing problems.

They're just amazing; they take pictures, update you on the progress of the roof, and really go above and beyond. I know they're licensed, insured and bonded. They're very prompt and dependable. I'm so happy with their services and I would highly recommend them to others.

Meeting with representative good, dealing with workers BAD. Left a terrible mess in our attic, the A/C guy had to clean his way to service the A/C unit. NON ENGLISH speaking workers made interaction very difficult.

Called and told them that I had some leaks in the bathroom ceiling. Their estimator came and went on the roof and in the attic and decided that it was probably the collar vents.The estimator was here about 45 minutes. He sent me an estimate and I accepted the proposal at the price discussed. The work has been completed and until it rains I cannot tell if the leaks are fixed. Hopefullyl, this corrects my problem.

The company has a good reputation, but the employee who came to give the quote was unprofessional and did not follow up or return phone calls. He dropped the ball.

Although they responded quickly to provide the estimate, we had some problems scheduling the repair because of the snow in December - but as soon as they were able, and the snow on the roof had melted, they repaired the roof. They were so neat about it that my husband and I called to find out when they would be able to make the repair only to find out that it was done!

J D Miles has been in business for years. They were the most thorough and professional in their inspection of the roof (we had 4 estimates done). They offered a 5% military discount, which the price reflects. We ended-up going with a smaller, more personable company that that gave us a slightly lower bid.

They're excellent, as my family has been using them for years and years. They may not be the lowest price in town, but you get a good service and a good roof.

We were very pleased with their work. They were to be there while we were there to put the roof on, because we do not normally live there. They put the roof on right away, but they gutters had taken some time. They still had done a good job though. I would be happy to recommend them.

I noticed a water pocket on the ceiling after a bad storm. A few weeks later the drywall where the water had sat fell in. I immediately turned to Angies list in search of a contractor due to more rain in the forecast. JD Miles immediately informed me that they were available to place a tarp on the home to protect the inside while the rain subsided. Although, the precaution wasn't utilized (by my own choice) it was great to know they weren't going to leave me hanging. Sure enough they stopped by one day to give me an estimate. The crazy thing is my home is in York County (Williamsburg address though) and they were able to get to me faster than roofing companies in Hampton, Newport News and York County. A few days later they sent two guys to complete the job. They were able to do all the work in one day and it hasn't rained in the house since. Very reassuring staff and they follow through on their promise. I hope to work with them again in the future for a sunroom and not a leaky roof!

I've used them for years and so has my Mom. They are very good. They are very capable, honest and fair. They show up on time and get the job done. Their price is about average. I could have gotten cheaper, but the work wouldn't have been as good. The next time I need a new roof, they will be the ones that I call.
