Kacey has been my technician the last couple times that outside pest control was done. First of all, Home Pro does an excellent job keeping pest away. Kacey is fantastic. Very efficient, professional and prompt. Jason does my annual termite inspection. He too is great!!!!! Would recommend Home Pro!

I am a local agent and have been using HomePro for several years and they always come through! They are honest and trustworthy from their inspections, to their treatments and their work. Their inspectors and technicians are personable and well trained - customer service and follow up is great as well! Other agents and clients ask for recommendations and I always suggest HomePro Pest Control first!

We have a two-pronged complaint against HOMEPRO. 1. They are predatory and are taking advantage of the real estate sales process. 2. The potentially unnecessary repairs were completed with poor craftsmanship. July 9, 2015 the potential buyer of our home contracted HomePro Pest Control to provide a Termite and Moisture Letter for our home. The repair estimate came to EXACTLY 1% of the value of the home which is the contractual norm for the maximum the we are obligated to pay. That was suspect. When we read the repair recommendations, we could not locate any of the alleged damage. We went under the house and couldn't find the damage. The home inspector could not point to any damage. Another pest control company could not locate any damage. A mold and restoration company could not locate any damage in April. We do acknowledge that the crawlspace was as humid as outside ambient because of the natural open ventilation. This changes with the seasons. On top of the ?required? repairs, the company required a crawlspace dehumidifier system to be installed and the crawlspace made airtight. To save money, we were going to install the crawlspace dehumidifier and seal the crawlspace vents. I called the company to discuss. We needed the moisture and termite letter from this company as required by contract. We were bound to them, and they let me know this on the phone. They explained in no uncertain terms they would not certify the space if they did not do the dehumidifier installation. Additionally, when asked how they determined that the beams and joists were damaged and needed repair, he explained he used a sounding tool. I asked what that was; it is a hammer. We still cannot locate the soft joists. Though we are obligated to pay for the work, we have no control of it. The dehumidifier does not dehumidify the area designated by HomePro as the ?problem? area. The dehumidifier was placed in another section of the house that has only a small, ineffective access to the area of concern. The area of concern remains as a crawlspace in Norfolk does in humid July, damp. The condensation on the vapor barrier remains in that area unaffected by the dehumidifier placed in the other end of the house. The young, seemingly inexperienced foreman could not provide us any guidance or reason for his placement of the dehumidifier. The location he chose has made little impact to the area of concern, yet HomePro already provided the moisture certification letter to the potential buyers thus certifying their own work. The buyers are purchasing this house with a crawlspace in the same state it was when they were told by HomePro that this work needed to be done, damp (but with $6400 in work done). Additionally, the dehumidifier drainage tube is held in place by crossed nails pinching it overtop instead of using a bracket. The dehumidifier has no remote monitoring, so there is no way to know it is working or not unless you crawl to across the house to the unit under the house. On the positive side, the electrician contracted out by HomePro did a great job. Everything he did was to code with great craftsmanship. HomePro understands that the seller is bound to pay for whatever they come up with up to the maximum amount. They are not structural engineers. They are not mold experts. They are not dehumidifier experts. They are pest experts. And they are experts in requiring repairs exactly match the maximum price required by contract and experts in extracting money for ineffective solutions while still providing empty assurance guarantees to young home buyers.

Response from HomePro Pest Control
I feel uniquely able to respond to this review, as I was the inspector for the transaction back in July. We were contracted to provide a WDI and Moisture inspection by the buyer of the property. This inspection is required by most lenders and part of the standard purchase agreement. I discovered a high level of condensation in the crawl space on July 9th, with wood moisture content readings over 50% in many areas. A reading of 20% or more can allow wood destroying fungi to thrive. This is exactly what had occurred to the property over the years, causing damage to 10 floor joists. All of the damage was noted on my inspection graph with photographic evidence. We also encountered termite damage in some areas. Although we live in a humid environment it is not normal to have fungi growth and moisture readings of 50%. This is one of the reasons lenders require this inspection. Due to the construction of the home, a dehumidifier was the best option to solve the condensation issue. The seller contacted our office a few days later to ask about her options. I explained that according to the real estate standard purchase agreement, treatments for termite and fungi must be provided by the inspecting company. This is to ensure treatments are correctly applied, since the work cannot be inspected afterward. I also explained that to get a "clear" moisture letter, they were entitled to make any repairs and then have the repairs and remedies inspected for a new report. I cautioned that this was years of moisture build up and would take time to dry. Waiting for the home to dry would delay the closing, however if HomePro completed the repair work, we could provide a letter quickly since we warranty our services. This would protect the buyer and keep everything on schedule. That was the end of the conversation. We completed the work and were complemented by the buyer on a quality job. I have since reinspected the home and found that the wood moisture content was reduced to 16%! At the inspection, we installed the humidity monitor for the buyers. This was done after the fact to ensure it wasn't accidentally packed up in the move. To the slanderous accusations: 1. The 1% cap is not a standard number in a real estate transaction and is subject to negotiation. There is no way for me to know the cap at the time of inspection. 2. You claim that we charged exactly 1% of you purchase price, however records show the home was sold for $358,000. 1% = $3580. Not the contracted (and discounted) rate of $6400. 3. "They (HomePro) are not dehumidifer experts" - I have 15 years experience in inspecting homes for moisture and pest issues. HomePro provides encapsulation services for 100+ homes every year. We service and maintain these systems daily. My 30,000 work hours (alone) qualify us as an expert. 4. "Potentially, unnecessary repairs were completed with poor craftsmanship" - As a licensed contractor, we provide every service in a workman like manner to any and all state codes. This is guaranteed. Further, our solution reduced the moisture into the acceptable range within 30 days. I'd qualify this as a quality repair. 5. "The required repairs were not identified by the home inspector/mold company etc." --With all due respect to those inspectors, my inspection is the only one required by lenders. It's scope is specific. I provided a graph and photographs of the damaged areas. The omission from the other reports doesn't make them not so. I normally wouldn't respond so harshly to a review, everyone is entitled to their opinion. As you will see from our other reviews here and across the internet, we highly value our customers. We have won the Pilot's Best Of award 3 years in a row due to our commitment to quality service at a fair price. I certainly understand that you were upset with the inspection but we are only the messenger. I didn't damage your home. To lash out at HomePro for doing the work in which we were contracted is unfair. Your service was discounted upfront because we hate having to give a bad report that could ruin a home sale. If we had done anything wrong at your property, I'd be the first to apologize. But I can't apologize for providing an accurate inspection. I wish you luck and hope that you reconsider your review after looking back on the facts of the transaction. Sincerely, Mickey Ferrell, Jr. HomePro Pest Control

On the day of treatment, two techs showed up. One of them was the tech who gave me the inspection (Zack! Seriously awesome guy!) They made sure to let me know that they would be starting and also let me know that it would be safe if I needed to let the dog outside. They completed the work in about 2 hours. Super nice guys, the quality of work seems to be wonderful and they promised to come back for a re-treatment, if they show up again within a 90 day period. Before they were even finished we were finding dead carpenter bees. So far, very happy with the treatment. Have not seen a bee yet (4 days post treatment). I was so satisfied with how I was treated and the price, that we will be calling them for general pest control and our termite treatment. Highly recommend!
Description of Work: Called for an inspection because we have/had a carpenter bee problem. The price we were quoted was over 1/2 off the price of another company. The technician was very nice and knowledgeable. He actually walked me around my property to show me all the places the bees had drilled holes, showed me what to look for and discussed how they treat them. (The first company who did our inspection didn't even do that and wasn't even at my property for 5 minutes before quoting me over $700!) Anyway, I was very happy with HomePro's plan, the time he took to explain it and his detail of inspecting our home. Booked an appointment for treatment the following week.

Description of Work: Homepro performed the yearly termite inspection per the protection plan I have with Homepro. The inspector was very thorough and knowledgably. I live in a wooded area, so termites are a challenge and with Homepro, the problem is finally under control. Homepro honors their re-treat policy with any glimmer of new termite activity.

It went well. I liked the salesperson, and he was not pushy at all. The written estimate was a bit vague, though. For example, it did not include the thickness of the plastic to be used. We had four estimates, and I believe this one fell in the middle to low end on cost. We have still not had the work done, but I believe we would use this company if we do not end up doing it ourselves.
Description of Work: He gave an estimate for encapsulating the crawl space (2000 sq. ft.) and installation of a dehumidifier.

We've had them for years. They way that they use their chemicals is different from all other companies. I have two very young children and animals and I was worried about having a treatment that would end up being really dangerous to them. The stuff that they use is different. It's like little molecules and the bugs track through it and it sticks onto them and weighs them down so instead of it being something like a pesticide kind of thing, it weighs them down so they can't eat and move anymore and then they die so it's not as toxic to deal with. They don't have to use as much actual material when they're treating as well because of the type of stuff that they use to treat with. They're family owned and ran. I'm on first name basis with the two or three guys that come out and do our house. They come whenever we need them to. Their price is really good. They do quarterly and yearly and all that kind of stuff. Both their office staff, like their secretary and the guys that actually come out are all really professional and good to work with.

We were thoroughly pleased with the work, price, responsiveness, follow-up, and professionalism of HomePro on the work that they performed.
Description of Work: HomePro did an excellent job in repairing several floor joists, leveling the floor, and treating our house for pest control. The awesome thing about HomePro's assessment was that it matched up perfectly with the evaluation of an independent home inspector that we had hired prior to calling HomePro. Excellent work. We will definitely call HomePro again for pest control and other services related to floor work. Additionally, their price was reasonable.
