DISCOUNT BLINDS

Discount Blinds (DB) was a pleasure to work with until a problem with one of the installed shutters arose. The shutter was very difficult to open and close (it required two hands and some shoving). On installation day we brought the problem to the attention of the installer and were told the window frame was not square and that was the source of the issue. Fast forward three weeks and DB were back to install the last 2 shutters in the garage. We told DB that we were not satisfied with the shutter in question, that it was too large for the window. We felt that correct measuring should ensure a shutter would open & close without jamming it into the frame. (We knew that was the problem because the room had 2 windows-DB had ordered the same size shutter for both windows even though the window with the problem shutter had slightly smaller dimensions.) DB insisted the window was not square, hence the problem. We asked DB to take the shutter out of the window because it was the wrong size. DB uninstalled the shutter, commented that with 16 years of experience they knew what they were doing. The installer then left, insisting they were the ones with the experience and the window was not square. Just left. DB never tried to back up their claims of the window not being square, did not remeasure the window or offer a solution. (We confirmed that the window casing was perfectly square after the installer removed the shutter.) We feel DB knew they had installed the incorrect size shutter but forced it to fit, which lead to the operational issues. We went to the DB office a few days later to get a status update. We were told that DB was not going to do anything about the last shutter, would give us a credit for the shutter and as far as they were concerned the matter was closed. DB walked away from their contractual obligation because DB didn’t want to correct the problem DB created. Totally unprofessional. We would not recommend this installer. We would recommend to anyone considering shutters-from any company- that they watch the measuring of every single window being shuttered and question if or not any windows are out of square.

Poorly run company. No follow up. You have to keep on them to get anything done. Had a Hunter Douglas Blind motor go bad while under warranty and the owner acted like she didn't know what to do about it. After A MONTH of trying to work with them to get the blind repaired I called another company they took it the same day received a call from them that evening as to what to expect, how much it would cost, and how long it would take. AMAZING! No run around. I cannot recommend a business that has more excuses than answers. I did purchase a blind from them that did go well other than having to call after 6 weeks to find out that it was in (no call) and schedule an install appointment, which also went well.

Excellent. They are a husband and wife team. They stay very busy so be patient if it takes longer to get your product or quote. They do a great job. Matt explained to me why wood blinds on certain windows wouldn't be advised due to me keeping them pulled up all day to allow light in a darker room. He explained how shades on those windows would be a better product. Installation took them an hour and a half. That included taking all the old blinds and hardware down and installing the new. They guarantee their work. It took 6 weeks to get them once I ordered them. But the product is good and I would use them again.

They were hard to get a hold of.

They carefully picked up their tools and left. Very professional. Definitely would use again.x

We had already used this company to install blinds in our LR and DR, so we knew what we wanted for the rest of the house. They helped us choose the blinds that would work for us and our budget. Be prepared to wait several weeks for the blinds to be ordered. They had to order them to fit our windows. His work was clean and efficient. No mess was made. He carried the blinds outside of the house for us (but it was up to us to dispose of them). He made sure we knew how to work the blinds, and ensured that they were properly fitted before leaving. Friendly and fast!

I have used this company in the past and was satisfied with the results. This time I had an appointment set about 2 weeks ago for Matt to come and show me some blinds and do some measurements. The appointment was for 10:00 - 10:30 today, November 29, 2012. No phone call, no one has shown up, and no one answers the phone. People are usually pretty forgiving if you just call and let them know what the problem maybe that is preventing the company from keeping the appointment. However, a nonresponse tells me you really do not need my business.

I was very pleased their work. They were quick to correct a problem we had.

I needed replacement parts for my drapery rod. Discount Blinds worked with me to get the parts I needed, even though it was not a part they normally dealt with. They were helpful and the process was pleasant from start to finish.

The guys that did the work for me were very friendly and polite. The blinds that they ordered for me came when they said they would and then they set up a time when they could do the installation. They explained exactly what they what they were going to do and how to take care of the blinds. We have not had any problems with the blinds at all. They did a nice job of cleaning up after themselves. I did feel that their price was very reasonable.
