DEL Electric

Doug was one of three electricians to provide quotes. He was not the cheapest or the most expensive but he was by far the most knowledgeable and the most pleasant. I felt like I was talking to a friend and not to someone that was trying to upsell me on services. I told Doug ahead of time that the house had some issues because the previous homeowner liked to pretend he was a contractor and would do things himself. Doug ran into some pitfalls and problems with this project (for example, some circuitous wiring where one switch disabled the entire right side of the house thanks to the previous homeowner. Not as easy to fix as one might imagine). Thankfully he had so much knowledge and experience that with A LOT of patience he solved each one as it came up. Doug was super agreeable to changes on a whim. In order to fix one wiring problem, he was going to have to take down a hideous 1980s fan. I asked him if he would mind too much if I could go grab one at Home Depot and he could put it up. He didn't mind at all. I also came back with a new light that I found that he happily installed in the front hallway. Doug doesn't have any subcontractors or employees so you know that on the day of your job you are getting a master electrician at your home (or business) to handle your needs. When Doug spotted problems in the attic (terrible connection jobs with no junction boxes or missing junction box covers) he went ahead and fixed them instead of ignoring them. I will absolutely be using Doug again to replace some interior lights and to do the wiring when I remodel the kitchen.

D.E.L. Doug is excellent. This is the fourth time I have used them. There are two reasons why I will always use D.E.L., extremely knowledgeable and just a great guy. Doug is the type of professional that you know just gets it. His ability to handle complex problems speaks volumes to his knowledge, talent, and skill. As an electrician you have to be able to handle many issues and Doug has been great in all of them.

Doug was a pleasure to deal with, he came out to the house the same day I called him and provided an estimate, his price was very reasonable. On the scheduled day he arrived right on time and got to work quickly. He took no breaks until he got the power restored on a very cold day. Quality of the work was excellent, his attention to detail was obvious. He was very professional and accommodating throughout. He cleaned up the work area after he was done so we had no mess to deal with. I highly recommend him and will use him again on future projects.

Very punctual and hard working. finished in 1 day kept me informed about progress during day. Recommend. We had to cancel the week before and he accommodated us the next week.

We had decided to add molding to our house but we had determined that a few things, ie like a speaker were in the way. Dan also wanted the foyer light relocated to be inline with the center of the front door and an old ceiling fan removed and a new fan put in it's place. He came out gave us an estimate. Showed up on time, did a great job with the work, even fixed a switch in our living room that he felt like was not wired like it should have been. Did a clean and neat job, was on time and gave an accurate estimate of the final cost. Impressed with his professionalism. Would definitely recommend.

Despite him having a family emergency, he responded to my initial phone call and was able to set up a time to do the work. He came on a Saturday for my convenience and did 25 % of the job. He was unable to complete the job due to parts and another job. We set up for the following Monday and he completed the work. My electrical problem was not straight forward, so he had to split up the job. He was always on time and did not waste time while doing the work. He was pleasant and thoughtful and cleaned up after himself.

We really like him. He did a good job. He was very nice and reasonable. We do plan on using him again.

He was punctual and ready to work. He made sure the job was done right from start to finish. He found several issues which he corrected right away. I definitely feel better about my electrical wiring.

I can't say enough good things about Doug (owner/electrician) from DEL Electric. After a few overpriced quotes from other companies, Doug offered a very reasonable price and worked with us on solving some electrical problems while staying within our budget. The home in Virginia Beach is a second home and so we were not able to be there when much of the work was done, however he was very communicative with us throughout the job. My mother lives there full time and acted as a liaison between us and Doug. She also worked with Doug on the placement/operation of the lights which were being installed on a newly installed driveway for her side of the house. Doug was extremely helpful and made great efforts to make sure the job was done right. He came back a few weeks later to check in to see if the lights needed adjustment and to check on our circuit panel (he wanted to monitor a few circuits). Again, he worked very well with my mother and was thorough in making sure everything was up to expectations. I would highly recommend DEL Electric to anyone in the area and plan to use him again for some future upgrades.

Doug Lilley is a true professional. He gave great recommendations when installing my kitchen under cabinet lighting and also installed new pod lights in the ceiling. You can really tell how someone cares about their work when they treat your home as if it was their own... Thats how Doug operates. I have a few more lighting projects coming up down the road and Doug will be the only electrician I will ever use.

He was phenomenal. He was worth every penny. He did not go over the estimate. I would definitely use him again and have recommended him to friends.

Del Electric did an exceptional job. He assessed the job, had the required replacement parts and set to work to complete the repair in under an hour.

Doug did previous work for me that I was happy with, so he was the first person I considered - and this time he did just as well. I had various items that needed work, and Doug was on time, finished on time, and as always very professional. Great job!

I called Doug for an estimate to install recessed lighting in our great room. He came by and did an extremely thorough job of investigating the options for installing the lights. Because the room is an addition to the original house, it was a much more complicated installation than normal. He gave us a very reasonable estimate to do the work. The other estimate we received (from a different electrician) was nearly twice the price Doug quoted. We asked Doug to do the work and scheduled it for a Thursday. Two days prior, Doug stopped by on his way home to look again at the project and spent over an hour working with me to figure out the best option. On Thursday he showed up precisely on time and worked steadily all day, finishing the job by around 5pm. Although he had spent extra time with us on Tuesday and although the job took more time than is typical, Doug only charged his standard price. We are thrilled with the work Doug did and enjoyed getting to know him. We will definitely call him again if we need more electrical work done.

Very well. This is my third time using Doug for electrical work around my house. He performed like he did in the past and it was a very smooth experience. Highly recommended and I'll be using him again next time I need an electrician.

Called Doug and indicated that I was interested in modifying my existing circuit breaker panel so I could power essential circuits with an external generator in the event of a power outage. Doug provided a brief overview of what the job would entail and some pricing options over the phone. Scheduled an estimate...Doug arrived early an provided all the information that I needed to make a decision. I received a written estimate within a couple of days and I was impressed with Doug's professionalism and pricing so we scheduled the work. Doug arrived as scheduled and commenced work installing the new circuit breaker box. He took great care while pulling wires from my existing box to the new box and cleaned up along the way. After the circuit box and generator plug were installed, Doug moved on to fixing a faluty GFI plug and installed/wired a ceiling fan in our garage. Doug explained how the new generator system worked so I am now ready for the next power outage. It's refreshing to hire a professional (with a great attitude) to do work and actually have them complete the project on schedule, within budget. I now know who to go to for my next electrical project. Thanks Doug

The electrician arrived at the time agreed upon. He ascertained what needed to be accomplished and routed a new electrical circuit from the main panel, underneath the house, and to the garage wall where I wanted the outlet.

We experienced power to portion of our home had been lost. Del Electric promptly arrived on a Saturday morning and repaired the outage IN ADDITION to fixing an outlet that had not worked since the house was built....repaired a dimmer that was wired incorrectly... and returned power to a ceiling drop light that had gone out. Overall we were very pleased and happy to have our home fully "powered up" !!!

Doug is a true professional. He has always been prompt with his service and has been sure to explain to me what he is doing as he completed the job. He is very personable and trustworthy and is my go-to electrician.

Overall I was very pleased. The owner was unavailable the day I called but volunteered to come out on that Saturday to get everything reviewed. Once it was discovered that it was a simple fix of changing outlets, he changed out the blown GFCI, recommended replacing the second GFCI in the kitchen since it was original to the house (over 15 years old), and then checked each individual outlet until he found the one that was fried and causing the dining room outlets not to function. He explained how the outlets were set up so we would know what to look for if we had any other problems, and made sure we were completely satisfied with the work completed before he left.

I own a home built in 1956 with a laundry list of electrical "issues." Doug came out and spent his time looking over all the work I wanted to accomplish and gave me a detailed estimate. He seemed the most thorough and professional of the three contractors who gave me estimates. He was also recommended by a third party contractor with no stake in whether I chose this electrician or not. In other words, he seems to have a good rep in the home improvement community. He was able to do the work over a 3-4 day period in my home while I was at work during the day. He was very professional, clean, and fair in his pricing. He was very detailed in his explanations of additional things he discovered (chewed-through wiring, nightmare junction boxes, ect.) I would recommend him to anyone looking for a competent electrician, who will fairly price his work, and do a very neat, professional job. He did an excellent job fixing all the problems I had identified for work. He installed lighting the correct way in my garage, corrected a shorted circuit, added circuits, replaced or added junction boxes. He was under the house, over the house, and inside the walls. The end result is night and day to some terrible electrical done to the house before I purchased it. I will definitely be using DEL in the future to improve some other amateur wiring that is unfortunately spread throughout every part of my home. I usually don't spend this much time on reviews, but I felt this individual certainly deserved the accolades!

After reading AL reviews I chose DEL Electric LLC and 2 other contractors for this work. The owner, Doug, was quick to respond, thorough with his quote (including options) and confident in his ability to get the job done. He even encouraged me to get other quotes if I had not already done so. After selecting Doug, we set a begin date and a completion date. Doug delivered everything he said he would plus!! Although, I had settled on a particular option, after beginning the work Doug realized that a more expensive option would be better for my business yet he charged me the lower rate even though it entailed a considerable amount of extra work. He still got the job done on schedule and an extra bonus was that he modified his schedule to provide the least amount of impact to our business operations. Believe me when I say that you CANNOT go wrong if you select DEL Electric. I deal with so many contractors of various trades but let me tell you that Doug Lilley is a throwback to the days of honest and trustworthy business owners. I felt as if I was in complete control of the job because Doug ensured that I was geting exactly what we discussed. A great experience and I will definitely have Doug do more work for me in the future!! I recommend DEL Electric for any electrical work you may need. A professional company from start to finish!!

Each time he worked here he was friendly, professional, and on time - (aside from the regular qualities of a company we look for, being on time is pretty important). His advice is reliable and he knows his profession. I highly recommend Doug and would call him again when we need any type of electrical service.

He arrived on time, I requested that he have cover for his shoes, he went to the store got some parts and the shoe booties, never a question. The work was done in a most professional manner and to my complete satisfaction. He showed up on time and cleaned up after himself.

Before each step of our kitchen remodel I would always get 3 estimates. Doug was the first of the three electricians to come out and give me a quote. I immediately felt comfortable with him handling the entire kitchen electric work but wanted to compare prices. The second and third electrician quotes were higher (because they'd have to pay several employees?) and both of them tried to talk me into replacing the entire electric panel (would be an extra $1000). They claimed I would constantly be blowing fuses when I used kitchen appliances simultaneously. I'm guessing since I was already spending a lot they could squeeze a little more out of me. Not with Doug!!! He was honest and explained how everything works down to volts/amps/breakers etc. Fast forward 2 months since the kitchen has been complete: I've been using the kitchen everyday with mutiple appliances on at the same time. I frequently have EVERYTHING on! Lights, oven, cooktop, vent hood, fridge, microwave, disposal, even cell phone charger and scentsy warmer plugged into outlets, all using electricity at the same time! And I've NEVER had any problems with anything! I also have to point out that Doug was so patient with my ridiculously complicated schedule/rebuilding kitchen process. We began kitchen demo in October, that was the easy part. When the kitchen was down to bare walls, Doug came out to remove fluorescent lighting and add recessed lights. Piece of cake. Then we installed the cabinets but a couple had been ordered wrong size and we couldn't install appliances until correct cabinets were in, so that made Doug have to wait several weeks to install cabinet lighting and appliances. No problem. I also went to Texas for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays for 5 weeks!!! No problem. Once correct cabinets were installed, Doug came back to do cabinet lighting and microwave, cooktop and oven circuit. Awesome! Then we had to wait several weeks for the countertops to be measured and cut. After they were installed Doug came back out to hook up the cooktop and vent hood. During each "phase" Doug was understanding, patient and willing to work around all the setbacks I/we encountered. We had excellent communication back and forth through email and phone calls with updates on progress and scheduling around roadblocks. (He did the livingroom and master bedroom fan as well as the foyer light in between some of the kitchen "phases"). He even sent me a follow up email a week or so after completion to see how everything was working. I just cannot say enough good things about DEL Electric! We remolded EVERY room in our house over the last year and a half. Out of ALL the different people my husband and I encountered (Ex: painter, plumber, carpet guy, counter top guys, window guys, garage door guy, hardwood floor refinishing guy, air conditioner guy) we both agree that DEL Electric aka Doug was our absolute favorite person to work with. He is knowledgeable, funny (he literally had me laughing every day!) and GENUINE!!!!!! Thanks again Doug!
