My experience with Carpet One was reminiscent of my father buying a used car in the 1950’s and dealing with the salespeople of that era.The salesperson at Carpet One was somewhat professional but wanted a 100% deposit on a $500 order. This protects the seller but offers nothing for the buyer and removes all leverage in the event of problems with quality of material or installation. I offered 20% and the salesperson called the manager over to discuss explaining I had offered a 20% deposit on the sale and was he agreeable. The manager asked, “How much is the sale?” and upon learning it was $500, said it was company policy to collect a full deposit on all sales. This was the part reminding me of used car salesman because that statement was obviously a lie because if that was the actual company policy, there would have been no need for the manager to ask about the amount of the sale. I also imagine the salesperson was conveniently ignorant of this all inclusive “company policy”. I left and purchased my carpet from a company requesting no down payment.

Went very well. Crew was polite and professional. Since the space I was having done was rather small it didn't take very long for the work to be completed. Vacuumed before leaving.

We bought carpet from them on December 21, 2008. Installation happened on December 23, 2008. This carpet was for our playroom/family room. The installers broke my Dyson Animal vacuum. They said their vacuum wasn't working and had to use mine. In less than one minute of turning it on, the vacuum broke. The guy must've ran over staples or some metal object. I ran upstairs to see what the sound was and he looked dumbfounded. He then went out to his truck, grabbed his own vacuum, and lo and behold, it DID work. So he lied to me. Secondly, the installation was lousy. They chipped off our white paint along the edges of the molding and trim around the doors. They didn't install the carpet correctly on the stairs. AND to top it all off, they put the seam right down the middle of the room and it appeared to be two different shades of carpet. We were very dissatisfied with the installation and called the manager the next day. I told him they not only broke my vacuum, but there was a very visible seam going right down the middle of the room. The manager said he would call me back after he spoke to his installer about the vacuum. He called back several hours later and the installer told the manager he never used my vacuum. Unbelievable. Of course I rebuffed this. The manager said he was going on vacation and could not come out to look at the seam until January. Instead of the store manager coming out to look, he had another manager of the Norfolk store come out to look at it. He did admit to seeing a large seam down the middle and also noted other installation problems along the walls and the corners. In the meantime, we had a third party come out to inspect the installation. He said it looked like in one area it was a 'crushed' seam and in the very visible area it looked like a 'side match' issue, which means the dye levels vary throughout the roll. Now it's been three weeks and we have not been able to put back any of our furniture or utilize the room in any way because we are trying to get this carpet either fixed or taken out altogether. On January 22, (a month after original installation), finally a group of 3 guys (including the manager of the Norfolk store, not Chesapeake store where we bought the carpet from) came out to tear out half the carpet to fix the 'side match' issue and crushed seam. They said they would come back at a later date to fix the stairs. THERE IS STILL A SEAM ISSUE! And the manager admitted to seeing it. They made an appt. to come out this morning to see it again. They never showed up. My husband called to ask where they were and they said they never made an appt. with us. This company is unethical and VERY difficult to deal with. I will never use them again and tell everyone I know who is looking for carpet to never use them. This is an ongoing problem and I see no end in sight.

We have had a horrible experience with them, and I've recently spoken with friends who in past years' have had horrible experiences. We bought carpet from them on December 21, 2008.
