They were the cheapest by about 10%. Our quote includes the line item "Screw down all floors w/ screws." When they began installing the carpet, my wife noticed they were using nails to fix the squeaks and asked them why they weren't using screws. Denny, the installer, told her they used special nails with ridges on them to hold the floor down better than screws. Denny did the floor prep on all but one bedroom. Bradley, (whom I believe is the owner's son-in-law), arrived to install the carpet and began rushing the crew through the completion of the work. This resulted in the final bedroom getting less attention to remove the floor squeaks. The carpet was installed, the furniture replaced, and the bill paid. After they left my wife noticed squeaks in the last room as well as one in another room. She called, and Denny came the very next day. He fixed the one squeak but said he needed tools to fix the others and that he would return. We made 4 appointments for them to follow up. The third time we called, I spoke with Allison (whom I believe is the owner's daughter). She made an appointment for Labor Day. I specifically asked her if her people were really going to work on Labor Day. She said "yes." They didn't. Denny did eventually show up. He fixed the squeaks. During one of the calls, Allison told my wife that if the floor needed fixing we should call a carpenter. Overall the quality of the work seems fine, and now there are no more squeaks.
We paid him in full, set several installation dates and never showed up. After calling and calling, and being told one story after another for 6 weeks, we called our credit card provider and they removed the charge from our bill and they went after Carpet Discount themselves.
Description of Work: They were supposed to install new hardwood flooring for me in my home.
