Home warranty used this company and they are corrupt. To install a drain line they charged me out of pocket $350. I agreed to that and then over a 6 month period of no AC they increased the price three more times to over $1000 to install a PVC drain line blaming it on inflation. They never answer their phone or call you back when you leave a message. I decided to get the work done by another company who charged me $150 total. I have instructed my home warranty to not use Arctic Heating for any future service to my home.
Description of Work: Inspected HVAC unit for home warranty company. Air conditioner did not cool house.

The only thing good about the appointment was the technician was on time. After 2 FULL minutes of the technician looking at the thermostat he said it was operator error because the hold icon was not pushed. All winter long it has never been pushed and worked perfectly. However I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He said if you have any problems please call the office and we will replace the thermostat. This was at 3 on a Friday. February 12th 2021. I called the office within 30 minutes of him leaving my house and left a voicemail hoping to get a call back before the Long Cold weekend. No call back thermostat working erratically. House cold. Call office first thing Monday morning left my name and phone number three times no call back. Called again at 9 a.m. some NOTE TAKER lady told me the reason why no one called back was because I did not leave my phone number. I corrected her and reminded her that I did leave my phone number and she said she is not going to apologize because she is busy. They could come out tomorrow if I'd like. I said absolutely not.... DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME or MONEY on this JOKE of a COMPANY. If they decide to check their messages they might call you back..

Arctic gave me an estimate that included $500 to modify my ducting for evaporator coil. They said the new one was a different size and they would need to do modifications. Repair tech replaced evaporator coil with identical unit and no modifications were required. When I challenged Arctic about the $500 modification charge they refused to adjust the cost.
Description of Work: Air conditioning was not working. Arctic Heating and Cooling made a service visit and added refrigerant to system. A month later had same problem and Arctic returned and added refrigerant. A few weeks later had same problem and Arctic returned and said I needed new evaporator coil. Took Arctic over three weeks to order coil (unit was available on Amazon). They replaced evaporator coil a week later.

The technician arrived early. However, the entire time he talked down to me. He wouldn't directly answer questions about why the house wasn't cooling. Finally, he said that he needed to get some paperwork, but he just left. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

This just gets better and better by the minute...Today Arctic Heating & Cooling returned to blow out the blocked AC line. The first day the technician came he said the AC needed to be turned off for 24 hours to let the line melt. I told him when this happened 3 years ago, the technician melted it in like 15 mins with a heating gun. He said that would be a waste of his time. However, in the next breath, he said he'd be back the next day because they aren't busy. I asked him if he wanted to go upstairs to see the unit upstairs and he declined. (I was worried that the overflow pan would start overflowing like it did 3 years ago). When I asked him about this concern, he just said, "Just check on it." First impression was, he wasn't very ambitious about diagnosing this issue. Technician came out the next day and and you should see what a "great" job they did. Sludge, rust and mold is blown all over my upstairs room! Yes, this is how the HVAC tech left my house. No, he never even bothered to go upstairs to check the AC unit (can you tell?) Yes, this genius blew it from the OUTSIDE, IN! He also charged me $85/lb of refrigerant. I called 3 other local HVAC companies and were told they charge $31/lb! We have contacted both Arctic & American Home Shield, who sent them to us in the first place! $190.00 to destroy my room! We are waiting to hear back from HVAC company. Follow-up. Arctic called me the next morning after we called them and sent them pictures showing them the disaster the technician left at our house. They told me they would do one of two things. 1. Send out the same technician to "try to clean up the mess he left" 2. Refund us the $125.00 service charge. I took the credit, which I will have to turn around and use to have my carpets cleaned. Not to mention the time and effort it's going to take me to clean all of the mess that is all over the upstairs unit and walls. Incredible! I do NOT recommend this company. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OVHYhcOXSmTJvl7lYfTvGGO3GciFe6meew/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/17Sb4839k9r78Eh65o1aZ9dCr75B29rYQPA/view?usp=sharing
Description of Work: The technician said the AC line was frozen because the AC was not keeping the house cool. He said to turn off the AC for 24 hours and he would return the next day, 10-13-15 to "blow the line out".

One of the most infuriating things about this company is that they make no attempt to expedite repairs. As an example, when they found they needed to replace the clogged valve they said they would have to order it and it might take 5 -7 days to arrive. That was on May 23rd. I do not know for sure if they ever got the valve in because when I refused to have them ever come out again (June 2nd) the valve still had not arrived. I had another contractor fix the mess they made and he ordered the valve, had it shipped overnight and was out to fix the problem the next day.
Description of Work: I used them because my home warranty sent them out. They had to make two visits last winter because they left saying the problem was fixed but it was not. This resulted in a delay getting heat back on and in lost time from work. This summer they have made numerous visits about my air and have made things worse each visit. The first visits showed a need for Freon, when they came to put it in they blew the condenser. when they came to replace that they did not put a filter in line, and so a valve got clogged with junk from the compressor. They still had not set a repair date for that when I refused service (almost a month from the original service date). This time around I lost two days from work and was without AC for almost a month.

The tech, Jason, arrived at the earlier part of the time window we were given. He was polite, courteous, went right to work, figured out the problem (bad thermostat), fixed/replaced it and was on his way in less than 30 minutes. I couldn't have asked for anything better than that! :)(* I gave the price an N/A because all we had to pay was the call fee for the warranty company, which was $60, but it likely would've been higher without the warranty). *Update: The following day (a Saturday), our system went out again and I called Arctic directly (as the tech told me I could do for 30 days). Apparently they are not open on the weekends and also do not check their messages or emails until Monday.... Needless to say, we had to have someone else from a different company come out. Arctic called me back Monday morning and referenced the and quot;new work orderand quot; they had received from my home warranty company but never even acknowledged MY voice mail asking for help and quot;ASAP b/c we have a 5 month old baby and a hot house (in the 90s) isn't good for herand quot;. Although my initial experience with them was great, their follow up could use a boost!
Description of Work: This company was assigned by our Home Warranty company. The tech checked our inside unit in the attic, then the thermostat & determined it needed to be replaced. He had one in his truck & was able to do it right away.

See above of course. I am extremely satisfied with this entire experience, from the initial contact with AHS, to the actual repairs by Arctic Hand C. The AHS rep was very helpful and empathetic when talking to my wife who placed the initial call. Arctic Hand C was responsive and efficient, letting us know when to expect the tech and calling ahead before his arrival, despite the fact that it is the hottest period yet this year! I ESPECIALLY appreciate Craig Smith who FAR EXCEEDED my expectations for both competence and congeniality. He went above and beyond what some previous techs have done on various repair calls on other household equipment, including A/C. As noted, he could have made it a 15 minute service call based on replacing the capacitor. That wasn't good enough for this HVAC PROFESSIONAL, he took the time to figure out why the capacitor malfunctioned, explained it to me thoroughly, and quoted a reasonable price without any sales pressure. I feel confident that the work performed was done efficiently, correctly, and at reasonable cost. Overall EXCELLENT experience without exception! If I need any other HVAC service, I will definitely request Arctic Hand C and specifically Craig Smith as the service technician!!! I also commend American Home Shield for their responsiveness and customer service, I wish I had the name of the individual rep there to mention him by name
Description of Work: We called our home warranty company, American Home Shield at 7:45PM on Tuesday evening because our Air Conditioning was not cooling properly. AHS referred our work to Arctic Heating and Cooling and sent us an email confirmation a few minutes later. The Arctic rep called us early on Wednesday with the news that the technician would be here between 12 and 4. Considering the stifling hot weather, I was absolutely ecstatic with the response time. As promised, the rep called that the tech was on his way around 1:30 and he arrived at 2PM. Craig Smith introduced himself, was neatly dressed and clearly ready to get the job done, tool bag in hand, very professional appearance. Literally within 30 seconds, he had the back off of the unit and diagnosed a blown capacitor. I was afraid that he was going to "have to order the part", but he had the correct one on the truck and it was installed and working within 15 minutes. He went the extra step of checking the pressure and noted that it was very high (333, I saw the guage); exceeding the maximum high side pressure of the unit, labeled at 300. He recommended a chemical coil cleaning to reduce the load on the unit, which was not covered on the initial AHS call, but certainly seemed logical to me (cost $150). After completion, the pressure had dropped to 170, HALF of the initial pressure just by cleaning the coils thoroughly. Noting that this was now below the optimum pressure, he checked and topped off the refrigerant. He cleaned up the work area and left at 4PM.

When our A/C failed, Arctic were the "recommended" provider sent by the Home Warranty company. The serviceman arrived while my wife was home, and upon describing the same situation we had described over the phone, he said that because it was my fault (true, I was replacing the thermostat) it was not covered. His conclusion was fine, but why they had to come out and bill me $60 to tell me that when it could have been handled over the phone was annoying. My wife called me, and even mentioned how uninterested (verging on rude) the serviceman was, and his inability to make even obligatory eye contact. Not like my wife, she usually brings out the best in all. He retreated to the truck and reappear occasionally with paperwork. Fair enough, we asked them for a quote to repair then, not under the home warranty. He diagnosed the issue as blown circuit board, and said that the part was not available and would have to be quoted by the office tomorrow. It will be expensive he said We rang the office, person in charge of giving us the quote was not available, would call us back. Two days, no call back. We rang again. Girl in charge of our quote was on another line, would call back. More days passed, no call back. I did not ring a third time. We went with another local company, Holland Mechanical, and they were courteous, prompt, fair and very effective. The irony? They fixed the problem and it was NOT the circuit board, but another minor component. _____ Arctic were so uninterested once it turned out this was not a warranty job (isn't that more money in teir pocket) that I am even contemplating a different Home Warranty provider this year, so I never have to deal with their level if unprofessionalism again. I don't expect your service guys to be entertaining, but I do expect you to run an office that can return a call, especially for a quote.
