Air Handlers Mechanical Heating & A/C

They fit me in on the same day that I called and quickly diagnosed the problem. They bypassed a relay to make my system work while they ordered the part. This was done on a Sunday which was overtime. They were back the next day to complete the repair.

Done professionally. Explained in great detail. Repairs were more expensive than competitors'.

After getting three estimates to replace furnace and air conditioning unit, I chose Air Handlers. Josh answered all of my questions without the typical "salesman" approach. No pressure. The two techs (Brian and Jimmy) arrived on time and did a flawless job replacing the system. Initially, I was told it would take most of the day to replace the system but they finished ahead of schedule. Their cleanup was spotless: could not tell they worked in the attic. We had a small snag setting up the wifi thermostat. I offered to set it up on my own but Brian insisted on staying to ensure it was set up properly. The problem was on my end with the router password. The few times I called the main office, Lindsy was always very helpful and professional. I would not consider calling any other company for service on my heating/air conditioning systems.

Proposal process was thorough and creative. Workers were on time, professional and friendly. Worked hard for two days and removed all old equipment and trash.

I think it was okay. They were here a few months ago. The service I bought wasn't needed so it felt like a waste and then when they were here they forgot to do some things and they had to come back and do it again. They did something wrong the first time. I mean they fixed it, just in the end it would have been nice if they would have caught the mistake at, you know, before there was a mistake.

Overall Grade = B+ I was looking to replace a crudy, LOUD, rusting 'builders quality' Split System A/C unit, as well as the 17 year old furnace, so I contacted 4 highly rated Angies List companies. Air Handlers were slightly more expensive than the lowest bid, but Josh took more time than anyone else to carefully go over all my options and needs. They also contacted their insurance companies immediately when I asked for proof of insurance/workers comp. Since one room gets hotter/colder faster than the others, they also installed louvers in the duct work so I can control the flow of air to the room. The installers did a great job and were very polite and easy to work with. Since I had both the A/C, furnace and louvers in the attic being replaced, they asked if they could do the install over a period of 2 days. So they worked 8am to 2pm the first day and came in the afternoon the next work day (to accommodate my work schedule) to finish the job. The units run great. The last step was scheduling the City of Chesapeake inspection - they don't let you schedule an appointment, just an entire day (at least you can call them in the morning of and find out a 2 hour or so band that they expect to be there). The inspection didn't pass due to not securing the outdoor unit to the raised pad, lack of locking tabs on service ports and incorrect overprotection amperage. Air handlers made the corrections right away, but now I had to take more time off work to wait for a 2nd inspection. I feel like they should have been prepared for those city requirements.

The estimator was polite, punctual and spent a lot of time explaining things. The price was great and the service team was clean, polite and on time. The whole process was pleasant I received a thank you card, which was very nice.

Very professional. Promptly replied to the emails and to the service call. Lindsy is a great dispatcher for them and was in constant contact with me. A little slow on the reports needed after the service but nothing that was a huge delay. Just needed a reminder or two. I would recommend them for a maintenance contract to anyone and they have competitive rates for repair and service. Thanks for the great partnership during this past year!

I'm not a real fan of HVAC repair companies because I always feel I'm about to get lied to and ripped off. The feeling did not happen with Air Handlers tech Kevin. After determining possible causes of water leaking from unit Kevin provided me the options. It was totally up to me what I wanted to do. The air handler unit is over 20 years old and until recently had no issues. We could replace the drip pans, re-locate drip pan drain to correct location, clean/replace clogged coil or we go with a more efficient new system. Kevin provided a lot of information about home HVAC. I felt he was very knowledgable and personable. My wife and I will think about the options and will determine best course of action for us to take. So overall I was very pleased with the service call and the information that Kevin provided. Thank you.

They were okay didn't go above and beyond by any stretch of the imagination.

I called Air Handlers on Monday and an appointment was scheduled for Wednesday. A rep answered the phone within a couple of rings. The time slot scheduled was from 10:00 to 12:00. The technician arrived at 10:30. He was very professional. He checked the system and found the furnace going out on "no flame sensed". He cleaned the flame sensor and tested the furnace. He provided a detailed explanation and thoroughly answered all of my questions.

Kevin came looked over the systems. He fixed a looge wire that was causing me problems on a HVAC dieting damper. He gave me same great into the price was very fair.

I called Air Handlers this morning because I had no heat last night. The operator taking my call was professional, courteous and kind. He let me know that I would get a call at 8 a.m. directly from Kevin who would be coming to fix my heater issue. Kevin called me punctually and let me know he would be able to make it out between noon and 5 pm and would give me 45 minutes call in advance...which he did and showed up a little after mid day. He was professional and courteous as well. He even covered his shoes as to not dirty my floors. How nice. Anyway, he investigated the issue with furnace. Came up with solution. Gave me quote and fixed furnace. I have heat! He checked the air flows to make sure heat was coming out on several vents. He explained service of doing yearly maintenance which was just what I needed. All in all the best service call ever! Recommend them highly. Btw, I found them via Angie's List.

We placed a service call to see if we did need a new unit. At that time, the current unit was charged with freon and it was determined that a complete new unit was needed. We heard back from them the next day with a price. When we called to have the A/C installed, we got an appointment within 2 days. The technicians came at 8am and worked until 8pm to install everything. There was a problem with the A/C not draining from the pan to the proper drain - it was automatically draining out of the overflow drain. We noticed this the next day. Called them back and a technician came out that day; problem wasn't fixed - called them on a Saturday, they sent someone immediately; problem still wasn't fixed; technicians came back on Monday with a solution, fixed the drain problem and the unit has been working fine ever since. We were really impressed with their customer service and quick response to all service calls.

Our house was just built in 2013 and as soon as we moved in we noticed that the a/c (and eventually the heat) wasn't getting to all the areas of the house evenly. Some rooms were sweltering, others were freezing. I purchased an Angie's List Deal for a Diagnostic (I forget how much it was, but it was a good price). Josh was the representative sent out to initiate the service call and he was awesome. He was always prompt, polite, and professional. After sorting through the tangled mess of lines in our attic he set out several options for us to choose from, including a stop gap measure to help the situation until we decided to completely redo the zoning and distribution of airflow throughout the house. Why would we have to rezone everything in a brand new house? Because our builder mostly likely used the lowest bid contractor to configure and install our system, and they hosed it all up. We chose the stopgap measure and were happy with the outcome even though it includes us having to go into the attic every change of season to readjust the dampeners. Eventually we're going to have to get it fixed totally and I will definitely be calling Air Handlers to take charge of the massive task. I'm perfectly ok with them not being the cheapest because they hire technicians that actually know what they are doing and I know from experience that I am dealing with professionals.

They were polite and friendly but don't have the experience with a sunroom air conditioner. It smelled like dust or dog hair when on for a while. I have a very clean house so I was kinda surprised when this smell occurred. The tech agreed that the smell was of some dust and not mechanical.They offered to clean the coll and fan for $500.00 which seemed a little pricey; They said that that the large part of it was taking the unit apart to get to the coil. They really didn't clean anything; I had to offer my vacuum cleaner to help. Again, I think they are more equipped to work on larger units. The replacement cost for the unit is about 750.00. After he left, I took apart the cover (which one set screw of two wasn't in - just sitting there) and cleaned the front of the unit and used compressed air to hopefully clean some of the dust out. I should have known something was up when they asked me to send a picture of the unit a few days before the appointment. I'm sure from the other reviews that they are probably very good at the larger stuff; they should not be included in the servicing of sunroom air conditioners.

Kevin completed a comprehensive assessment of the second floor's HVAC system and the outside units. He identified several critical issues and provided excellent recommendations and detailed discussion on these recommendations to resolve the issues.
