Very thorough. Showed us the problem and made sure we understood the problem. And then repaired it.

I'm glad I called Airhandlers--my non-functioning heat pump problem was repaired and my air conditioner is cooling and working perfectly now. The technician thoroughly went over my whole system and replaced the faulty capacitor. He explained the details of the system for easy understanding. He also made suggestions to improve the efficiency of the unit that had apparently been overlooked by well intentioned past repairs/upgrades to the system. I will definitely call Airhandlers for future help and would recommend them to anyone needing furnace/heat pump repairs/replacements.

Friendly service setting up appointment; prompt service on date promised; good feedback on condition of Heat Pump; and professional closeout of service. Luckily the checkup went fine and we've had no issues with either heat or A/C since their visit.

My AC unit stopped blowing cold air. Initially I thought that this was due to Dominion Power controlling my AC unit during peak hours. I called up Dominion to see whether or not they were having an event. When they said no I knew I was dealing with a big issue. I called an HVAC company who was referred to me and they came out the next day for a diagnostic. Their initial diagnosis was that the coil in the upstairs unit was leaking (no official leak check was preformed) and that it froze over my compressor which in turn stopped working. The cost to replace the coil and the compressor would be about $2,200. Then they proceeded to say that my unit is no longer energy efficient and that I may as well replace my unit for about $5,500. They wanted an answer by 5pm that day (a Friday) so that they could replace the parts or the unit on Monday, depending on which option I chose. I told them that I was not going to decide without a proposal (and I wasn't going to have them play on my emotions). That they could email it to me. I'm still waiting on that proposal. So I go to Angie's List. I saw the $49 diagnostic test deal for Air Handler's. They had great reviews and it was a very good price for the diagnostic, so I purchase the deal and they called to schedule the appointment right away. I had John come to my house to evaluate what was happening. He instructed me to turn on the unit. He said that the compressor is clearly working. That there was no need to replace it. He did say that is was leaking Freon, but that the leak was so small that there was no sense in replacing the coil. He added Freon to my unit. There was another part that needed replacing that was blown out probably due to the bad storms we've been having. He did say that the Dominion power device used to control my unit was unnecessarily tripping my unit on and off. He disconnected it for me as I had requested. He came to check the vent temperatures inside. Low and behold, the unit was blowing cold air. I only paid for the part and labor - $137 total compared to a potentially $5,000+ job quote from the first company. I will be strongly recommending Air Handler's if anyone has any issues with their HVAC unit and I'm signing up for their maintenance plan as well.

7/31/14 A call from the provider points out that I may have misunderstood the quote. I will take responsibility for that. His call tells me his heart is in the right place, and he is concerned about, and takes pride in his business.

Obviously I am quite satisfied with this company and will be using them again.

I had been told one day before by another company that we needed a new compressor or a whole new unit. I called Air Handlers for a second opinion since my unit is only seven years old. They were great! They were super prompt and very friendly! JC came out and went over the whole system again. He got it working and it has not stopped since he came out! Thank you Air Handlers!

Extremely responsive. Good professional service. If only all contractors operated like Air Handlers did, life would be a lot easier.

The technician called before arriving to let me know he was 30 minutes away. He arrived promptly and used booties to cover his shoes so there wouldn't be anything tracked into my house. It was raining the day of the service call. He listened to my concerns about my system and asked and answered questions until I felt he completely understood my reason for the service call. He ran the furnace for a bit to see why I was concerned with the amount of heat being released into the furnace room and said he would do some research on the model of my furnace to see if other technicians had experienced the same concern from other owners. He also suggested forced air fans for the furnace room to push the heat that builds up in the room to other spaces in the house. I was very happy with his professionalism, friendliness and attention to detail. I will use Air Handler's again if and when I need any HVAC work done.

They were great! Ac works and the technicians were very skilled and professional.

I hate to be the one to break their perfect string of excellent reviews but this experience just reinforced my and most peoples general dread of getting their heat pumps worked on (this probably goes with car repair also). Josh was very personable, on time and professional. Unfortunately he was either inept or just plain made a mistake in determining the cause of our diminished cooling. I was not at home so my wife conveyed the problem to him. Our air flow out of the registers was decreased so our house was not cooling as quickly and our unit was running longer. The coil had frozen up one time but after I changed the very dirty filters it had not frozen up again but we still had cooling problems. I am pretty sure that the two main causes of the coil freezing up are lack of freon, usually to a leak in the coil or poor air flow across the coil. Josh diagnosed the problem as a likely bad coil and quoted me $1500 - $2000 to fix it after a $100 diagnostic fee to find the leak. He also left me three quotes to completely replace my system. When I did talk to him I asked him if the freon was low. He said he didn't check it because he assumed the coil was leaking. I know my unit is 13 years old and yes something else is likely to break when we replace the coil but the problem wasn't the coil, it was an air flow problem. I have a variable speed fan that decided to only run on one speed so my air flow dropped and that coupled with dirty filters froze my coil. How do I know this? The other service rep I had check out the unit confirmed that there was an air flow problem and the fan was not ramping up. The air coming out of our floor vents was blowing at 60 degrees, something that took about one minute to check and hard for a unit out of or low on freon to do. I realize that if Air Handlers Mechanical had done the diagnostics they would have found out that the the coil was not leaking but Josh was here for some time examining the unit. What he was doing I don't know because the best he came up with was guessing that the coil was leaking. He did spend a lot of time going over various options with my wife. I don't think it was a difficult diagnostic problem. There was no way I was going to pay $1500-2000 to replace a coil on a 13 year old unit so we were close to choosing them to put in a new system. Had we decided to go with a new system I would probably be writing another glowing report about how wonderful there are. A new system fixes any problem, even if it's the wrong problem. Luckily I decided to wait and see what the next tech said because logic says a system with low or no freon shouldn't be blowing cool air. My overall impression, smooth snake oil salesman probably exacerbated by the pregnant pause when I asked Josh if the unit was low on refrigerant. I gave them a C for pricing because we were not charged for the "service call"

My heat pump condenser fan stopped running. So I called Air Handler for an appointment based on their reputation on Angie's List. Kevin the technician showed up on time and promptly diagnosed my fan problem due to a faulty capacitor. The replacement price was reasonable, so I went ahead and got it fixed. The AC is now back to working order and I am very pleased with the service provided.

John the technician showed on time. His an honest person. I'll be calling this company again in the future.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They were good. They were on time and everything went well. The service guy was great. They ended up not doing the work because it was a bigger job and I took bids and went with somebody else. I didn't spend any additional. They came out immediately. I would absolutely use them again. Their price was very competitive.

Air Handlers Mechanical Services, Inc diagnosed the problem with my air conditioner very quickly. They gave excellent service, were very professional and courteous. They explained that my air conditioning unit was still under warrantee from the original installer and suggested I contact them to get it fixed. I would definitely use Air Handlers Mechanical Services, Inc in the future and would recommend them to anyone who needed help with their heating and air conditioning units.

The estimator came out within 2 days of my request and was very professional and thorough. I received the estimate 2 days later and their equipment brand and price were very competitive. I did not choose them but they came in second out of the 5 estimates and companies who I dealt with. If I hadn't gone with a friends company they would have received my business. They are definitely worth considering for your A/C work!

The technician was excellent. He gave me a courtesy call before arriving, arrived timely, and did not try to sell me something I did not need (if you do your research, you will find most HVAC companies are basically scammers who try to sell you upgrades you don't need, e.g. instead of doing a basic fix, they'll try to sell you an entire new unit). In this particular case, the technician did make an error in his diagnosis, but when the mistake was discovered the owner of the company personally came out to diagnose the situation and then refunded me the money for the incorrect diagnosis. This is one company that was definitely honest, and that is a hard thing to come by. I would definitely use them in the future!

This had been a problem with our unit leaking Freon since last fall. The technician came out twice to investigate but couldn't find the leak...it was likely more than one, small and in the coils. We decided to delay replacement until the spring when the weather turned warmer. We contacted the company, and they came out again. We were provided written estimates of 4 different units to replace ours and an offer to deduct 4% if we paid in cash. We selected the unit we wanted and scheduled a replacement date within 2 weeks. The technicians were on time in the morning and worked until late afternoon except for a lunch break. They cleaned up after themselves, were professional in their demeanor, and got the job done efficiently.

Booked a day in advance. Didn't expect to get a quick appointment but the Scheduler was very helpful and Scheduled for the tech to show between 3-5pm the next day. He arrived at 4, and Worked quickly to find the problem... Offered to clean the coil for a fee, and when I declined he recommended alternatives I could pursue on my own... Friendly and professional. Overall a good experience. I will be looking to them for any future HVAC needs

Took a lot of time talking about the unit. Son owners, Josh came out to do the work. He was over here for about an hour. He was very patient and answered questions, gave many options on other contractors to be fair with pricing.

Josh was right on time, performed the preventive maintenance on our two air handlers and heat pumps, answered all my questions, even double - checked a few tasks, used the shoe footies going in and out of the house, and overall did a great job

On time, checked everything, clean, he used plastic shoe covers in the house. Pleasant personality.

Initially Josh came out and survey our house and the existing system. He had my proposal to me that afternoon. I had previously had another company come out and give me an estimate which took them over 2 weeks to get the estimate to me and it was much more expensive, that company has an A rating on Angieslist which I don't understand. The installers that came out to do the job were John and Kevin. They were very professional, courteous, on time, and very clean. They did a 1st class job and did not leave a mess. I highly recommend Air Handlers for your heating and A/C needs.

I called the business phone number at 8pm on Sunday and expected to leave a message to request service for Monday if possible. To my surprise, the owner, Bill, fowarded office calls to his cell/home phone number. I spoke with him and explained that my tenants called because the air conditioning was not working properly. The office called me Monday morning and informed me that an appointment was scheduled with my tenants to come out 10-12pm. The technician, Josh, called to let me know that the circuit board went bad and that it needed to be replaced. He informed me that it was still under warranty so it would be at a discounted price. He went and picked up the part and installed it within just a few hours of diagnosing the issue. I truly couldn't be more happy to have such great, quick service! I highly recommend this company for any work.
