Subject popcorn ceiling repair: My husband slipped and went through the attic ceiling years ago...he managed to replace the wallboard, but we never knew how to repair the popcorn ceiling! We were strongly advised not to use spray can product from Home Depot....so we put it off. Richard and his team came in and in no time restored to its original textured and color! You absolutely can not tell the new repair from original part of ceiling. We also had them do two wall/ceiling cracks in two other places in house. He and his team are professional, friendly, work quickly, excellent results, and even did a fantastic clean up in work area! Highly recommend!

Mr. White and his team were great! I will definitely be using them for future projects throughout my home. They arrived at 8AM sharp and worked through the day to finish. We all laughed and and had a great time while they were working. Feel like I made some new friends. These fellas did an awesome job and I am over the moon happy with the results. I got an estimate from another contractor for three times the amount of what I paid to get this done. Another contractor wouldn't even get back to me with an estimate after he took the time to come out to my house. Above Board is the kind of contractor I prefer to do business with. If you want someone that is responsive, professional, great price and does quality work, these are your guys. Take it from a true skeptic. I think they may have restored some of my faith in contractors.

He was one of three that we called for an estimate and his was competitive. We liked his staff. They were very knowledgeable. They were very punctual and very thorough. We are going to call them out to do some other drywall work that we have around here. We definitely would use him again.

We had major water damage from a frozen pipe in our attic. Richard and his team were delightful to work with. They show up when they say they are going to, they work until the job is done, they are always happy and polite, and they are exactly the kind of small business that makes this country so great! My favorite thing about this company is that when I was talking to one of the guys about working for Above Board, he said "the owner, Richard, treats us so well....he really takes care of us." I believe that when an owner takes care of his employees, it's reflected in his employees taking care of his customers. They did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone!

Their work is professional and well done. I had a pipe burst and needed to replace an entire downstairs ceiling. The price was a bit higher than my other 2 bids but the owner came in knowledgable and enthusiastic. We chose this company based on professionalism, skill, and a very accommodating staff. The work was completed with perfection. My only issue was the time line. They started working on Sunday and the job was not completed until Friday, I was told it would be completed Wednesday. This caused other work to have to be pushed back by 2 extra days. We'll more like 5 because drying time was also pushed back as well. They also came back and did touch ups with no charge which I love because I have companies charge for touch ups. Overall I would recommend using them! Awesome and will definitely use you all again!

The guys showed up on time and were ready to work. EXTREMELY NICE and QUICK. Definitely the cheapest we found around. Did awesome job and would definitely recommend them again!

The worker he sent over was aghast at what he found. He said it was more than he bargained for, and since a month had passed since the estimate (my job is busy during the holidays) I had to admit that a lot more problems had become evident since Richard visited. I told the mechanic "please fix this properly and I will square it up with Richard later." It turns put that this particular drywall mechanic, while quirky, possessed a skill level rarely seen in most any construction trade. I ended up paying more than the estimate but like I said, thing got admittedly worse probably because as the winter set in the substandard work revealed itself in its entirety. It was an AMAZING job. Did I find an occasional spot here and there? Yes, but I'm a near perfectionist, and none of the minor issues required anything more than a little sanding. Nothing warranted a call back. You will find such issues with ANY job I assure you. If you want your work done CORRECTLY, this company can do it.

Work was great . Richard provided trailer and disposal so we could save money and do demolition work ourselves. Work was done over three days, included replacing trim , retrimming window in style that matched the older trim of the house. Came up with design ideas to address some odd wall angles (part of room was an enclosed old sleeping porch ) Carpentry included new walls and jack up and replace header for sagging ceiling .Easy to work; We would use them again

The restoration of the "TV niche" over the fireplace is amazing. You cannot tell a hole ever existed in the wall. It is perfect drywall that is a major update to the entire living area. We are in the new millennium now! After many months trying to find a contractor who understood what was wrong with our master ceiling, Above Board immediately understood the problem and was able to correct it. They enhanced the repair off with painted crown molding in the master. It looks beautiful! The crew was professional and skilled. They had the job done in no time. We are planning to use them again to install the new fireplace mantle and put crown molding up throughout the entire downstairs.

I was referred this contractor through Service Magic online. He called very quickly after I contacted Service Magic. I explained the job I needed done and he quoted me $150 right then because I would probably be getting more calls for this job from other contractors and he wanted the job. I said no problem, that sounds reasonable. The next morning, he was late for his appointment, but called to let me know he was running behind. When he got to the house and looked at the repair, he tried to raise the quoted price to $250. I explained that he quoted me $150 and I accepted his quote. I declined to allow him to increase the quote and he said if I didn't he could not do the job and left. He called back within about 15 minutes and said he changed his mind and would do it for what he quoted. I had already decided do it myself and removed the 2 1/2" crown molding from the top of the closet. I told him he could still come back and replace the drywall, which he did. I later made a review of my experience when he called me and asked me to provide a review own service magic for him. I entered an honest review of the event and gave him an average rating. After that I received a nasty phone call from him complaining about the review that he solicited from me. i then went back on Service Magics website and changed my review to poor. Later i received a threatening phone call that stated He knew where I lived and other expletives.. He neglected to protect his number from being detected from my caller ID. So I called him back and explained he had just broken the law. I explained that I felt he is threatening the security of my family and if he did it again, I would press charges. He denied making the phone call, but never called again. I make this entry on Angie's list because people need to know who they are letting into their home to make repairs.

They did a very professional job and cleaned up after themselves.

Full day of work. Quickly setup and got moving, and cleaned up everything. Work looks great. S good that I had another job come up to add the wavy texture to another room and didn't call anyone else. Highly recommended and will use for all my plaster and drywall needs.

Superb. Company responded quickly to my request for quote.Answered all my questions in a very timely fashion. Actual work was top notch. Electrician and floor techs I've employed since have both commented on the quality of plaster work performed. I'm happy.

The owner of the Company and his two workers were very nice, courteous, personable men. They were conscientious about the job they did. I was very pleased and would use them again.

They came in and put up drywall in living room and hallway. They did a pretty good job kind of hit one of my door frames out of wack and didn't notice till a month later. Then they had a different individual come in and do the muding he took longer than they said and there were a few noticeable spots that could have used more mud. If I had more time I would have done it myself!

Richard was very responsive and cordial from the initial estimate all the way through following up after the job was done. Job was scheduled for 1/16 and it was pouring rain and not ideal for moving 13 sheets of sheet rock into the house. He recommended that we postpone until it was clear, but he was prepared to do the job right then if I insisted and gave me the option of whether or not to reschedule. He even offered to come in on the weekend and do the work. I took his recommendation and we rescheduled for 1/18 after the weather was forecoast to clear up. On the day of the job his crew showed up on time and worked quickly doing quality work and cleaned up the mess in good order after the job was complete. I am very happy with the outcome and will bring his crew back when we get ready to do the next room. To sum it up - quality work for a fair price and was completed on time.

The response was very quick- the estimate and work were done within the week. The price was reasonable, Mr. White was very pleasant and the walls look great. The pattern in the plaster matches exactly what was done in the 40's. I would absolutely recommend this company.

The job went smoothly, the crew was very professional, courteous: all of our concerns and questions were answered immediately. They arrived on time, cleaned up every day. We hilghly recommend this company to anyone needing plastering done. The plaster looks awesome.

Upon contact, he came right over and had an estimate for the job to me that evening! We were going to hire, but decided on hiring a handyman who could do plumbing, light electrical and contract out the plaster/drywall job for $100 more than the estimate for just the drywall.

It was a very good experience. They got to me promptly and it didn't take them very long to do the work. They did great work and they were reasonably priced.

Everything went great. He was very prompt with replying to my inquiry for quote, and was able to perform the work in less than a week after providing the quote. All of the work was done within one morning's timeframe and looks great - like the damage never occurred!

Overall, the project was executed smoothly and it turned out better than I expected. His crew did an outstanding job cleaning the debris that is created whenever drywall is removed. They were very careful to vacuum all the dust as they were tearing down the ceiling to avoid dust flying all over the place. The ceiling and adjacent damaged walls looked amazing. I was very happy with the product they used which requires no sanding. I will definitely use them again.

It was a great job and would hire them anytime I need drywall!
