A Cut Above The Curb

Great. Cut above the curb showed up on time and went through my irrigation system. He made minor repairs and more importantly he showed me how to make repairs. He also gave good recommendations on the best way to setup my irrigation timers.

Work not performed because the owner never got back with me on an estimate.

BECAUSE ANGIE'S LIST GIVES THE MONEY TO THE PROVIDER ,RATHER THEY PROVIDED THE SERVICE OR NOT, AFTER 30 DAYS. I HAD NOT BEEN GIVEN A DATE FOR SERVICE AFTER TWO WEEKS OF WAITING. I WAS A AFRAID I WOULD FORGET ABOUT THE SERVICE AND I WOULD LOSE MY MONEY. I CANCEL THE SERVICE.

There was much growth in the back, between brick patio blocks and in the flowerbeds. They were very nice and even said they would clean up the backyard, no matter how long it took. I used their coupon from Angie's List and they honored it, even though they said that they normally come out to see the job first before they tell clients to purchase the hours. They were very nice and I am happy I used them.

I really wanted to use this provider based on terrific reviews, however, I have been unable to communicate directly with the provider. There is no phone number listed and the provider only messaged me once saying they would get back with me soon. I have waited just under two weeks and am not choosing this provider based on lack of contact.

A Cut Above The Curb did a great job spreading 8 yards of exactly the right kind of mulch. Service was quick and very professional and they really cleaned up after, making the yard look better than it ever has. They even edged the beds without being asked.

I am extremely pleased with my flower bed and the work Mr. DePonceau crew did giving my house a great curb appeal.

The owner was truly a pleasure to work with. He was always incredibly professional and also extremely kind. He worked with us and was very flexible to help us keep our little project within budget- discounting his normal price when we did all of the prepwork ourselves as this saved labor time for him. The two workers that cam eout were great. Professional and efficient. They even offered up some suggestions about the ground bees we apparently have! We had a lot of mulch that we had bought left over from the three major areas and the guys offered to help spread it on a few other small beds at no additional cost. They even pruned a small tree in a our front yard which was very nice of them! After the work was completed, the owneer called a few days later to follow up. We thought that this company was truly excellent in every way. If we were not moving to Florida, we would definitely use them again and again for all the services they offer!

He arrived exactly on time, which pleased us very much. After he explained everything he was going to do, he went straight to the job. He had to leave to get some parts for the pump repair, but he was back within 20 minutes if that long. The whole job took from 0800 to 1100. We thought the charges were fair & as soon as our schedule will allow we'd like to hire this company again for Landscaping design.

It was pretty good, all the way around. They did a good job and they were funny.

The service went well. He was at the house on time and ready to work. He answered all of my questions I had about my system and gave me a little bit of training on how long I should run the sprinklers in each zone. He was very courteous and respectful.

He was supposed to come last Thursday. He never showed up & never heard back. Also- never contacted to let me know why he didn’t show up.

Robert is a very personable and professional individual who is dedicated to providing the best service possible. During the course of our contract, I had a number of educational discussions regarding our lawn and have appreciated his expertise. He was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we were happy with the service. He has a hard working team, which includes his brother, Thomas, that I found to be very friendly, respectful and dedicated. I would hire them again with full confidence.

This comapny helped trim all my shrubs around my house including: the front, side, and back of the house. The workers were veryprofessional and courteous. They wanted to make sure we were happy. The end result is simple: we received the results we wanted at a very reasonable price. Also, the company was very professional.

It took months to get scheduled and only after I called and left messages. When they came out, one of the workers had a sore arm so they left and were supposed to come back the next morning but didn't make it until the afternoon. They were inefficient with their work. They didn't have the right equipment or enough equipment to allow them both to work at the same time. They raked the same area over and over again. When one of them cut off a leaf, the other one raked it up. He cut another leaf and the other one raked it up. When I pointed it out to them, the one raking was sarcastic and unprofessional in his response to me. They were disorganized - started one thing and then moved onto something else, leaving things half done. The trees they did trim are lopsided. They ruined my fig tree and one of them finally admitted he didn't know how to trim a fig tree. There were many other problems, so much so that I wrote a long letter to the owner. I emailed it and also mailed it. He never bothered to respond to me. After this very negative experience, I will never again purchase a Big Deal from Angie's list which requires you pay up-front so you have no recourse. I read some of the other critiques from members who had very similar experiences with this business. I expect the owner will have lengthy excuses for these problems just as he did in other instances. I can only state honestly what my experience was like. Also, I tried to resolve this problem quietly and directly with the owner by writing him a letter. I actually have never felt so strongly that I took my time to write a letter of complaint. I allowed several months for him to respond one way or the other, but he didn't.

It was good. There was no additional charge. Nothing really stood; they just did a good job.

Very professional. Pleased with the work. It went over the offered time and they prorated the time at a very reasonable rate. The team leader kept me apprised of what they were doing and even let me know when they were taking a break. I have already spoken to the owner about coming back to do some major shrub trimming and mulch in February as well as an estimate for lawn and bed maintenance going forward. I have a lot of beds with trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals. It's not a small job. I was pleased with what they did so far and look forward to a beautiful yard this spring and summer with someone else doing the 'heavy lifting'.

The workers came on time, worked hard and did all that I asked them to do, plus some extra things that they saw needed doing . When they finished they cleared all the rubbish to the curb for the trash collection. Did not waste any time while working,

They were very nice and I’d do business with them in the future if I had the chance. The only reason I didn't use them is because I wanted the work done before Christmas and they weren't able to until the week after Christmas.

There is only one word to describe Robert, A Cut Above The Curb's owner, and his crew...Phenomenal! We live at the North End of Virginia Beach and our the bushes (of which we have many) had overgrown for approximately 10 years, as my husband and I could no longer continue to do our own yard work so took advantage of A Cut Above the Curb's coupon and hired them to help us resolve our landscaping task. We were totally amazed at their professionalism and level of their landscaping skills. At first, we had a little difficulty with their scheduling, although it was thru no fault of their own as the weather would not behave and it just kept raining and raining. Each time this happen Robert had his office call us and we were immediately rescheduled into their calendar. If you are searching for individuals who care as much about how your yard and landscaping look as you do, then hire A Cut Above The Curb, we did and we will continue to have them maintain our yard!

They were really good. I liked it. What I didn't want is that they weren't able to finish smoothly. I was just about to get a callback from their boss and that never happened. I have to say I didn't pursue with him. They did an excellent job. What I like about their work is how fast they worked. They went directly to the job and took care of everything. The scheduling was a little difficult because they were so busy.

Robert and his team were very courteous and kept us in the loop throughout the entire project. Even amidst a busy schedule and weather issues, they were able to complete the project quickly and efficiently. A Cut Above the Curb was flexible and responded to some last minute changes and upgrades that we had requested. We were very pleased with the final outcome as well as the overall price and experience. Several neighbors have complemented us on our yard and have asked us who performed the work. Additionally, we plan to hire them for our grass cutting needs next season.

Several dates were set up before service performed. One day they ran over on earlier jobs. Told the office person that I had several tree limbs that I wanted cut. The crew of 3 arrived without the correct equipment. One saw was broken and therefore could not be done. The crew leader was very apologetic, saying that he had not worked with this truck, and did not realize that all the equipment was not one the truck and part was broken. The area they worked in looked very nice and I was happy with that being done. If they had trimmed the trees they would have ran out of time, prior to weeding.
