Description of Work: After contracting A Cut Above The Curb, I contacted Mr. Robert DePonceau to inquire if he received my first payment, a check and inquired as to when the job will start. Robert sent me a text stating he will get back to me later that day, if not tomorrow. A few days went by and I still did not hear back from Robert. Nevertheless, he cashed my check very quickly, clearing my account on April 30th. On May 7th, he arrived to my home several hours late. He never provided a courtesy call stating why he would be late; just showing up unannounced having his crew waiting outside my home for several hours waiting for him to arrive. Robert was just awful to work with. He even got a nasty attitude with me twice and had to apologize to me twice. He is undependable, unreliable and my experience with his business was awful. Even more note worthy to mention the sod he installed in my back yard died, over $2000 was a waste of my money. I am heart broken and very upset and very sorry I used his business. The price for the work provided was cheaper but I wished a used another company that would have been more dependable, reliable and professional and maybe I would have a nice healthy green grass.

Description of Work: My house was attacked by a driver, went through my front yard, destroyed my front yard and my porch. Hired him to replace damage in front yard (Azalia bushes, mulch, plants) When the plants began to grow out, I realized they were not planted correctly, one bush died, other was not looking good. I phoned A Cut Above, he came out, promised to replace these bushes and I have never heard from him since- been over a year!

+ 1 moreI thought it went very well. I have had alot of yard people out here and I thought he did very well. He was very nice, polite, and friendly. He did the job with another man and it was a very positive experience .
Description of Work: He came and trimmed our rose bushes and other bushes around the house. He planted quite a few plants in my planter. He straightened out some edging along the side of my house. He also cleaned up after he was finished and bagged everything for me.

Description of Work: Heavy yard maintenance. Cleaned up yard, trimmed bushes, weeded and mulched and edged flower beds. This work was performed at my daughter's house, as a gift from me.

The business owner was very professional and communicated clearly with me exactly what would be done and when. Because we needed further work done that I could not afford all at once, he offered to extend the Big Deal price for further work (within the next few months). I would be willing to share my review, but please don't use my name. Thanks!

We had asked two companies to come out and do this same service and they asked for 2,000 dollars to fix all of the landscaping issues. After 4 hours with these two man from A Cut Above my backyard looks amazing. Also, I was not in town and they had no problem taking orders from a woman. My wife was very impressed with their professionalism and work ethic. In fact, they stayed an extra half hour to cover the time that they took brakes. I would absolutely use this service again.

Description of Work: Trimmed Willow Tree. Pulled weeds from Flower Bed. Trimmed all shrubs in flower bed. Bagged all debri and put on the curb. Already had bags of mulch in the backyard. They carried all the bags and put them in the front yard in the flower bed which made it so much easier to lay it out.

+ 0 moreThey did a really good job. I worked outside with them the whole time, and of course they got much more cleared than I did. We bought this house this summer and the far back area leading down to a creek is a terrible mess of vines, with many bad vines including poison ivy, etc. I knew that two men working for four hours would only make a dent in the jungle, but my budget is limited. Robert DePonceau (owner) and I agreed ahead of time which parts of the back should be done first. When the two workers arrived on Monday, Thomas was especially conscientious about making sure they stayed focused on the areas where I wanted them to work. I sprayed Roundup Poison Ivy and Brush killer once they were done for the day so that the vines that are still back there will know their days are numbered. I am very happy with the results of the men's work, and I feel that my money was well spent. I liked that the men only counted their working time towards the four hours, their break time did not count. I thought that was great. I recommend this company, especially if you have Thomas come out to do the work for you.
Description of Work: Two men worked for 4 hours each on Monday morning clearing vines that were terribly overgrown in the far back of the back yard. They also removed dead branches which they found under the vines, and they trimmed a few small bushes with a hedge trimmer. They bagged all the vines and carried everything to the curb and made a neat large pile of the branches, and stacked the bags along the curb, ready for trash pickup the next day.

The job was done and all debris was removed to the street for city pickup. I have some large bushes which need to be cut and some bulbs which need to be removed; I have already contracted with this company to do the work next week. I was most pleased!
Description of Work: My flower garden needed weeding and several 'volunteer' trees needed removal. Some leaf raking was also needed. All of this was completed using the special deal purchased through Angie's List.

+ -1 moreThe 3 workers arrived promptly ready to start work. They did not waste any time getting started despite being joined by nearby cat who thought they were it's Mailman friend. The cat sat in the middle of the road and refused to move for a car that needed to get by, the driver had to finally get out and carry the cat to the curb. After this bit of distraction the 3 men got down to weeding and clearing grass from the flower beds. As they had finished this job early they then looked for what else they could do and trimmed overhanging branches from a Crepe Myrtle tree. And generally tidied up what ever needed doing. I am very pleased with their work and will call them again when I need some overgrown bushes etc. removed from the wetlands at the bottom of the garden.
Description of Work: Cleared the flowerbeds of weeds and unwanted plants. Trimmed Crepe Myrtle trees of over hanging branches.

A second walk-through was done on the date of the work. Owner and staff were hard working and completed the job to my satisfaction. Clean-up was very thorough. I am pleased with the work done by this company and the attention to detail by the company's owner and staff.

Robert was very eager to rectify this situation and offered to dig out the old tree stumps as a courtesy for my patience and understanding. Since he had such a cheerful attitude, I hired him on the spot to fill in the stump holes with soil. I would like to applaud Robert for staying true to his word! He is a good example of how a businessman should run his company; he put customer satisfaction as a top priority. He redeemed himself and I see why his company is called "A Cut Above The Curb." There are absolutely no hard feelings and I wish his company the best of luck!
