A Cut Above The Curb

We are going to have them back in the spring for more detailed landscaping!

First, Robert spent considerable time working with me on what we wanted done, the type of plants and shrubs involved to determine the best time of season to do the pruning and clean up we wanted. Through Angie's list, we were able to show him pictures of our back yard, discuss the options and he came up with plan and date that worked for both of us. He called days ahead of arriving to confirm. He called multiple times the day of the work to make sure we had a plan in case the pending snowstorm interferred. Rob and his assistant arrived early - went through the yard - talked to me about what I wanted, got ready, moved their gear to the back and THEN started the clock on the 4 man hours of yard work I paid for. They scrambled hard for two hours pruning, blowing and bagging - and knocked out the whole project right ontime. They were polite, proffessional, prompt and hard working. Definetly will use again - starting this spring.

Overall went well. Pleased with the final results. Thorough walk through but pricing options were confusing at first. The owner finally made it easy for me and delivered what was promised.

From the inability to make contact with the owner to the crappy service that was performed, my husband and I are very upset. I am having to contract another lawn service to finish the botch job that was performed. WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!!

We had a scheduling problem, but they made it up to me by performing extra hours for the same price. The owner was very apologetic. They did a fantastic job trimming all the shrubs. Everything looked so clean and neat afterwards (and they were a mess beforehand). We wanted all the weeds in the flower beds pulled or killed, but it looked more like they were cut off at ground level with a weed whacker. Some have since grown back. Most of the ivy is gone, but it is growing back in a few spots. Overall we were happy with the work they did for us.

Setting up the appointment and walkthrough was a bit difficult due to communication issues but in the end the work was done well and I now have my garden beds back looking like actual gardens. These beds were a badly overgrown and tangled mess, and "Cut Above The Curb" did a great job finding the gardens in the jungle.

We're not real happy. They were kind of slow. My husband said that they were amateurs. Three plants that they transplanted for us have died. They just didn't really do what we asked them to do. It was something that my husband and I had started. I really feel like I wasted my money on them. They did come on schedule. They didn't bother to say, "Is this the way you want it?" Where they dug the dirt from to dig the hole, they dug deeper than I really wanted them to do. They never really asked me how deep I wanted them to dig but I'd already done half of it myself. They could see how deep I was digging and they dug three or four inches deeper. I'm going to have to go back and refill that. The helper didn't seem like he knew how to plant anything. He just dug a hole, stuck it in there, and threw dirt on it. Three of the six plants, that we asked them to relocate, didn't survive a month. They'd been there a couple of years. I don't know if they cut too much root off or it the job they did in planting them or what. They weren't experienced landscapers or gardeners. They're just guys that hire themselves out to do labor. The guy that did the transplanting was in a hurry and didn't do much to prepare the area. It was marginal work. Some things they do okay but someone would have to oversee them closely to ensure they're doing it right. You also have to give very specific instructions.

Side yard-brought in and tamped down dirt to create a proper grade of the soil so that water flowed away from the house not towards it. Back/front yard-removed gravel from path and saved for later use in trench. Dug a trench the length of our back yard and into the front. Also tore out a small drainage system in front yard that was inadequate. Corrugated pipe with sock and popcorn and three catch basins were installed within this trenched area. Two gutters were tied into this system. Surrounding soil was regraded to insure drainage of water into drainage system. The system was tested out and adjusted during the initial install. Robert returned after a heavy rain to correct low areas that were noted.

It went out really well. There weren't any additional charges. I actually had been ripped out. It was quite a mess. I have not used them before. They were really quick and they were really efficient. They got a lot more done than I expected them to in the four-man hours that they had. I literally had my house good with two hours because the coupon was for four-man hours. They actually sent two guys who worked for two hours. They managed to get the entire thing done in two hours. They got a lot more work than I expected them to. I didn't have any issues. As a matter of fact, they actually provide their own garden bags or disposable bags. They used those to help us clean up. The bags that my husband bought was the wrong style. They went ahead and gave me an estimate to let me know how long it would take to finish cleaning the front yard completely. They're actually fairly reasonable. They said that it would take up another 8 hours to finish up the front yard. It was a lot less tighter than I was expecting it to take. I would definitely use them in the future.

It was fantastic; they arrived on time and got right to work. All the work was performed efficiently and they cleaned up completely. I look forward to using them again in the future.

The former owners of my home had an interesting sense of home care and decoration. I was so tired of trying to do upkeep given what I had been left with, that I just stopped and let my yard get quite overgrown...I received a "Big Deal" package as a gift from a good friend and purchased another myself. It took me a while to get the scheduling right as I am very busy, but the owner of the company continued to call and touch base - slowly moving the project forward as I had time to talk and get details together. I wish I had taken before/after pictures, because nothing else can really do justice to the transformation of my yard. The estimate for materials and additional labor that I had been given was more than fair, and when the project took longer than what was expected, they kept the price in keeping with the quote I had been given. I was also given suggestions for upkeep and maintenance and am very happy with the results.

The work was done excellently and I would strongly recommend them to any future Angie's List customer.

Great job by A Cut Above the Curb. I bought the big deal on Angie's List for 4 hours of work. Robert, owner and Mark came out to perform the work. They went right to work, did an excellent job and even stayed beyond the allotted time to clean up. Very professional, great communication, great work -what more could you ask for?

Really impressed with the owner and his employees...professional, courteous, and unlike so many in the landscaping business, really knew what they were talking about. I'd give them an A+ if you had that rating!

I bought a deal with this provider for 4 man hours through Angie's List. They were prompt in setting up an appt and I was able to send in pictures through email to make sure they could do the job. They pulled weeds, trimmed back an enormous rose bush, and pulled out a bunch of cement stepping stones, they then put dirt over the holes. The backyard looks much better than it did and I'm happy with the work. Two guys came for approximately 2 hrs. The big deal was for $160ish and then I was charged another $45 for dirt and haul away.

Everything went great. All of my communications with Robert were very professional and best of all, my yard looks fantastic.

It went very well, I was very pleased with it and the owner was very accommodating and easy to work with. The workers that he sent did a great job. They came out the end of September. If the job had required more than the 2 hours, he would have charged the same rate. I thought that was very fair. The house is up for sale and they got it looking good and had good curb appeal. They were very responsive and on time. They were very professional and I would use them again.

When I spoke with the service provider we agreed that the level of expertise of this offer is not required for the job that I need done. He is coming out to give an estimate that will be more in line with my needs.

Owner contacted me soon after I purchased, set a date to come to my home to address the areas in which I had purchased the work. He concluded he could perform all I wanted done in the time I had purchased, we set up a date for work to be performed. They arrived on time, and performed all the areas I wanted weeded, as well as all flowers and bushes cut back. They did an excellent job, and cleaned up all the areas.
