Excellent! The plumber arrived at our home well within the quoted time and immediately started working on the clogs. There were several clogs of grease from years of build up. He cleared all of the clogs and fixed a leak in the kitchen sink.

I don?t know too many plumbers but I would consider sending a Christmas card to this plumber. The only thing that held us up was we had a lot of rains one day and they could not do the work so we had to delay it until it?s done. It?s a very nice work. This guy raked it out, planted grass and put the straw down. He had to dig through the meter until he found the leak under the grass work. His price was not out of line because I got two quotes. The other company wanted to cut my driveway which I did not like but Speedy Rooter had a more considerate approach and they went out of their way to get an extra jumper hose so that I have water the whole time. These guys did a really good job. It was a first class operation. I will recommend them.
Description of Work: I got a great plumber to do the job for me. They just finished the work. I found him through Angie’s List. They replaced the main water line in the yard.

The hot water heater was installed in 1980 and we established several times with the company and repair man that it was an old unit and contemplating purchasing a new one. We knew the element was out and figured it couldn't be more than a $200 repair at it's extreme given the man was in there for about an hour if that to replace a $30 element. I'm over estimating also because I was pricing Lowe's while the repair man was here. To our shock, he handed us the bill for $520.00 just for that repair and never even warned us how much he would charge. I bit the bullet and paid him considering the work done but had questioned prior to him performing the repairs if we should just purchase a new one because of it being so old the chances of so many things going wrong with it. He side stepped all of my questions and none were answered directly at all. Several weeks later, we noticed the hot water heater was damp and as the weeks went on progressively it started to leak. We called the company back last night and restated all my concerns and his rebuttal was that a new hot water heater to replace our 42 gallon 240 volt would cost us $1100.00 alone. I also explained to him that I got a second opinion after feeling like I had been overcharged and a plumber from a different company said he would've be able to do it for less than $150 after he saw the bill. Explaining this to Speedy Rooter, the man on the other line said that my second opinion was a lie until I explained I saw the checks and worked the bank where this man deposits for his business. Even the installer at Lowe's was baffled on how much we got charged for a simple repair and how much the quote for a hot water heater was. The company had two people that told me the owner would get in contact with me last night and I never got a response. Frankly, I'm okay with that because it just opens me up to getting robbed by them again. I went to Lowe's and purchased a brand new hot water heater that is an upgrade with installation included for $800. They charge a $35 fee to come out to look at what you have going on but if you go with their product and installation, the fee gets deducted from your final price. Do your wallet a favor and do not go with this company. If I could upload a copy of my receipt from this company to show how ridiculous it is, I would to save everyone else the hassle. Update 6/7/2015: I did want to update my overall score after the owner got in contact with me. While initially all sorts of frustrated with the communication, the owner did explain to me that the price should have been explained up front prior to any repairs and he did make good on his part stating that it was an error on and gave me a partial reimbursement. What was a bad situation turned worse when the employees didn't follow up and placed more blame on me was definitely better handled by the owner and I commend that.
Description of Work: An element was replaced along with thermostat.

I made the mistake of pushing tons of apple peels down the kitchen disposal while making apple sauce. The pipe was totally clogged. I tried removing the P-trap myself but didn't succeed, and I incidentally damaged the P-trap in the process (but still could not remove it). The next day I called Speedy Rooter around 11am, and got an appointment for 3-5pm. On my way home I bought a replacement P-trap. The tech came around 3:30pm (I did call around 3pm and got an update on the arrival time). He cut the PVC pipes (turns out the pipes are glued so I am glad I didn't force it), put on the new P-trap, and installed two black-colored connectors (don't know how they are called). He said this way I will have access to the P-trap myself should this happen again. At the end I got a value price and they did honor the coupon I got from Angie's list. The tech was professional and curtious, and of course didn't laugh at my way of dealing with the apple peel and didn't give me a lecture, which was nice.

My outdoor faucet froze and burst. I called this contractor to come and replace it with one that will make it through the winter. The price was 75 dollars just to give an estimate, or around 370 for the estimate/work done. This was way overpriced, and the faucet is already broken again.

Due to unknown causes, our sewer pipe from the house to the city's main line got clogged and backed up into the basement. We sought the advice of plumbers and 'roto-rooters' who want to dig up the pipe - but that would necessitate cutting down one or two large trees (at about $5000 per). Speedy Rooter offered to do something no one else could: line our existing pipe with a polymer sleeve that effectively 'replaced' the pipe without removing it. It was expensive, but well worth it. Painless.
Description of Work: They lined our sewer pipe, saving us from digging it up.

Still waiting for (not so) Speedy to turn up, if at all.
Description of Work: This company refused to turn up in time and after our home warranty company/insurance company contacted this provider to set up a "speedy" response, to our broken water tank. Our water tank needed replacing and all issues connected with this flood and situation made safe ASAP. The only thing that concerned the person who answered the phone was a snow storm that had been predicted to happen. The telephone spokesperson responded with no respect or care shown towards me or my family (who are also facing the same predicted snow storm but with no hot water and a flood damaged wet basement). When I asked if the workmen would come out the next day the person on the phone said they were taking a "snow day off"! "It hasn't even snowed yet" I said, the answer I got was that my family's plight was being loosely marked in for an appointment sometime on Friday (2 days after my basement flooded after my hot water tank burst), but these "speedy rooters and plumbers" would only turn up if it hasn't snowed too much the day before. So much for positive and caring customer relations or this company living up to its name.

The inserted a soft plastic sleeve inside our ancient Orangeburg sewer pipe, then put a balloon in the sleeve and blew it up so that is hugged the walls of the sewer pipe. That hardened in less then 24 hours. To do all this they had to dig up a bit of basement floor first - which they repaired very nicely at the end. Throughout they were prompt and professional, and let us see what was going on via their video.
Description of Work: They did what no comparative company, or conventional plumber, seemed able to do: they lined our sewer pipe from inside our house to the city's main branch. This prevented our having to dig up the old pipe, doing very extensive excavation that would have damaged the roots of a very large tree.

diagnosed clogged drain, ran snake to clean it out. Later they said we needed to use a camera to see if there was a crack in the line. There was no crack in the line, by the time they finished doing all the diagnosing, which I think was just a way to get more money from me the bill was now up to $900. The bottom line is I had a clogged pipe that needed to be snaked out. If it would have been up to this company they would have torn up the concrete driveway and who knows how much the bill would be.

Actually the sewerline had shifted at the tap...This was obvious on review of our video inspection...We told the customer to call the City of Staunton and see if they might fix the problem...Also we would not have had to dig up her lawn...We would have pipe lined the break with our advanced technology....This customers sewer line will back up again...We would have liked to have had a chance to address this complaint but this was not the case...We have a A+ rating with the BBB and Google internet plus a 80% repeat customers....

Engineered septic system stopped working; warranty company sent out Speedy-Rooter. They said needed new filters and floaters at a cost of $1,240 and that still might not fix the problem; could cost a few thousand to get it up and working. said tank also needed to be pumped. We got a 2nd opinion and the problem was that lightning or something had burnt out a small transformer; cost to repair $140. To be fair, we did get the tank pumped but by another company.

Speedy advertises emergencies 24 hour service. I called them on a Saturday after being turned down by other service companies in the area. Drew was at the location within 1 hour. He was polite, and did a very good job. I will use them for future needs. The pump in the septic was not working and set off an alarm. He pulled the lid, found the problem and it was repaired within 1/2 after arrival. On time service, polite, and repaired in a timely manner. All equals GREAT SERVICE.

Same issue occured the next night so I called Speedy Rooter back to arrange another visit 2 days later when I could leave work. They agreed to come on a Friday afternoon between 2-3. They called me at 245, when they were supposed to be at my home and said they couldn't help, the yard probably needed to be dug up and they couldn't do it that afternoon. Now I have to go all week-end without use of my kitchen sink and laundry facillities which could have been avoided had they called before the scheduled appointment to say they couldn't help me. Now I have to take another day off and locate a more trustworthy and reliable plumber.

After giving Speedy Rooter a negative review last week, they came back out this morning (on time, too) to apologize for the misunderstanding over the earlier price quote, and give me a reassessment of our situation. It turns out that the next-door neighbor I had replace the jet pump failed to switch the voltage down to 110, so I've got to go get a new pump and put it in..... There may be foot valve problems as well, we'll see. Since they were so responsive to our concerns, I'm changing my review to a "B" overall.

It was a good experience. We had water backing up in the basement and had called another company that just suggested a cleaning product to be poured in the drain. When we had another episode of water in the basement, we called Speedy rooter and Drain after reading about them in Angies list. Gary arrived promptly and reccomended cleaning out the drain and noticed some irregularities while doing so. He then checked it out with a camera and noted that the pipe was rusted out in several places. The choices were to dig out and replace the pipe or put in a liner. We chose the latter and with the help of a colleage they put in a liner and also replaced some of the pipe that had been infiltrated with tree roots just outside the house. It took a little longer than anticipated for the lining to cure but Gary and his colleage worked on Thanksgiving morning to complete the work and leave us with a fully functioning system.
Description of Work: Put in a liner in the rusted cast iron drain buried in the basement floor thus avoiding breaking up the concrete. In addition repaired the drain line outside the house that had been invaded by tree roots. Gary was professional and dependable, fixing everything that needed to be done. Would reccomend him and his company again.

I have an old house with old galvanized drains that are apparently hard to work on due to a tight bend in the traps. In order to finally un block the tub the man had to cut the drain pipe from the sink. This required lying on his stomach in a tight muddy space. After a little under 3 hours the tub was draining and the mess cleaned up. I was quite surprised however when the bill--not counting the $10 gas charge--came to $605. If I were to use them again,I would want a better idea of what the maximum cost would be.

Charged 1200.00 and I had to get, and pay approximately $80.00 for, the repair materials. I had to pay $600 CASH before the project started, then $600 CASH when the job was 'completed'. Arrived 1 hour late to start the job. After the pipe was spliced, the backhoe started leaking hydraulic fluid before the ditch was completely filled, so the work stopped, the backhoe was loaded and I was left to fill in the hole with a shovel. I foud out the next day that I could have rented a backhoe for $200.00 a day. SInce I was without water for our house, I felt compelled to get the repair done, then felt angry with the outrageous cost and incomplete job.

Setting up the appointment was quick and easy. I got an English speaking person on the phone- no need to "press 1 for this and 2 for that". It wasn't a call center in India, so that was good. The appointment was set up for between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. I got a call at 9:30 saying that the tech would be late- arrival between 11:30- 12:30. Although I had other things planned that day, I agreed to this because I took a day off and it was important to get it done. So, I rearranged my other appointment and waited. At 11:00, I got another call saying that the service would be delayed again because the tech had to go to the dump. While I appreciated the call both times, another delay would have my whole day invested in this. I was given the option of rescheduling or just leaving a check. I chose the latter, but didn't feel good it. The tech left me a receipt which supposedly means that the job was done, but since I wasn't there, I have to take his word for it. (I am not doubting that it was done and all is well. I just don't have the peace of mind of knowing because I wasn't there). The driver left ruts in the yard where he drove over the lawn. I don't have a manicured, landscaper maintained lawn, but I still don't appreciate that. Overall, I feel like the price was good, but I felt like I was dealing with a friend who was doing me a favor rather than a professional. It's like you are begging people to help you move and you have to take what you can get and work around their schedule. If they inconvenience you, oh well. Next time, I will pay more and hopefully get more professional service.

Overall, Randall came twice to my home. He was very professional, polite and clean and tidy on both visits. He made this whole repair experience a nice one. Well as nice as having your plumbing repaired can be. haha!
Description of Work: I just purchased my house and I had the seller purchase a home warranty for the home that covers plumbing. I had several complaint: the garbage disposal didnt work, both bath tub faucets wouldnt divert water to the shower, the master bath tub faucet leaked water and the master bath toilet ran continuously. The company was able to accomodate my schedule, by having someone meet me at my home at 5 pm. This was wonderful of them to do as I wanted to be there for the initial visit. Randall came in, evaluated my problems, called the warranty company and got all of the repairs covered, except my deductible. This was on a Tuesday. We then scheduled the work for the following day, Wednesday. Randall called me Wednesday morning and told me that he had an emergency call and he wanted to know if it would be ok to reschedule. I was very pleased that he took the time to call me and ask to reschedule. I had no problem with it and we moved the appointment to Friday. Randall was there Friday morning and he made all of the repairs. He called me to let me know that everything was taken care of. He told me at the end of our phone conversation that he wanted to check the master bath tub that was leaking one more time. He did re-check it and found it leaking. He then called the my warranty company again and got authorization to cut into my fiberglass shower and the wall, fix the problem at the valve in the wall and install an access panel, all at no additional cost to me. He called me a couple of hours later and told me that it was done and there were no leaks. I couldnt belive that he had finished so fast. I was hesitant to see the "cut out" that he had to make in the shower. I was expecting some huge, gaudy hole, but when I opened the shower I couldnt even see where he had to cut. The panel that he installed fit behind the shower knob, was stainless steel and blended in perfectly. His work exceeded my expectations. He was very personable, very professional, very neat and clean and he explained things to me in a way that I could understand. I would highly, highly, recommend him and this company to anyone. Randall has secured a loyal customer in me. It's not very often that I'm surprised by something, but he surprised me, in a good way. Thank you again!
