Rodney's Painting Service

Came as scheduled (coordinated with dry wall provider), 3 people including Rodney. Worked efficiently and finished the job in one day. Paint color was white variant on existing white walls. Was done with all lights on in the area, presumably to give best visibility. Before they left, I looked over the work with Rodney and it looked fine. The workers left and some time later, my wife returned home and we sent into the rooms so she could see the result. This time, the light was natural sunlight and later in the day, and to my surprise, she was able to pick out several areas where the old white was not completed covered with the new. Called Rodney, and he immediately offered to return the next day to deal with the problem areas. At that time, I had not originally included the bathroom in the area to be painted, so I asked them to do it also. As agreed, they returned the next day, and my wife showed Rodney the areas of concern. With the natural light, they were easily seen, and both Rodney and I were amazed they had been missed the previous day. They finished the touch-up and the bathroom, and this time we had my eagle-eyed wife sign off on the completed project.

Mr Olsen and his crew spent 2 days doing several rooms and a stairwell in my house downtown. As usual, he exceeded our expectations in quality and economy. We have worked with Rodney several times since 09, and he has always done excellent work at a reasonable price.

Rodney was very professional. Punctual and cleaned up at end of every day. Very helpful with color choice and additive to lessen paint smell. Kitchen cabinets were somewhat of a problem but Rodney kept at it until they were perfect and he was sure I was happy with them. His prices are very reasonable and he is a very honest and nice person. I have more painting to do in the spring and I will definitely call Rodney.

I called Rodney on Wednesday, he came out Wednesday night to give us a quote, and his team was in our door Thursday morning. Talk about fast! While I know Rodney typically has business booked well in advance, he had an opening pop up right before I talked with him and was able to fit our house in. The job took him plus two guys just half a day and we were really pleased with the results. They did what they said they would do, no complaints here!

Rodney and his crew made the spaces they painted look gorgeous. Just what I had hoped for. He met with me and then emailed an estimate very promptly. He was SO nice, very patient and professional in the midst of several extra things I asked his team to do. EXCELLENCE.

Excellently. So well it was actually boring! My wife emailed Rodney after finding him on Angie's list and he called in about an hour after getting the email on a Sunday. He said he would come by on Tuesday to give an estimate. He came at exactly the prescribed time, looked at the four rooms (and some optional things we were considering) and said he would have us a quote within 24 hours which is exactly what he did. He also said that he could get to the painting in the next week, which I thought was amazing. Since we had decided to purchase the paint ourselves, he gave us a quote for labor only. We told him his bid was middle of the three we had gotten but since his response had been so prompt and he had such high reviews, we gave him the bod. His crew showed up exactly on time. Took exactly a half hour for lunch and had finished each room by 3 PM the next day. They cleaned up all their materials beautifully and the work was professional looking and well done. My wife is a perfectionist and when she came home, she found some very minor things (brush stroke misses, etc), we informed Rodney the next day and he corrected everything. He even pointed out a few errors his crew made that we had not found and corrected those. (They were very minor and easy to occur.) I don't want you to get the idea that his crew was sloppy; far from it. But everyone makes small mistakes, Rodney corrected those. I was also impressed that he said he works with each crew to make sure his quality standards are kept up. We did have one problem, not caused by the painters. Lowes had incorrectly mixed the paint colors on one of the rooms. When my wife came home she was very upset at the color, not at the job they had done. The end result was that Rodney gave us a discount on repainting that room and Lowes picked up the cost of his labor. So there was no out of pocket expense to us. But it was nice for Rodney to do that on something he had no negative involvement with. Overall, an excellent experience. They were professional, punctual, efficient and we are quite pleased. We will definitely use them again and have/will recommend them to others. Now if I could find a mechanic that is as good as Rodney is as a painter. I would be really happy!

Rodney was very professional, and punctual. He came right out to give me an estimate, and arrived on time for both the estimate and the work. He was able to work within a tight time frame which was very helpful to us as we completed a renovation. His estimate was higher than the others we received, but he agreed to work with us on the price, which we appreciated greatly. The work was done quickly and he and his crew repaired a few flaws I saw on the spot. Now that we have been living in the space a little longer I have noticed some of the cut in work it not as tidy as I would like, but we did not reach out to him to come back and fix it since it is pretty minimal and easily fixed by myself. He seems like the sort of fellow who would be willing to correct a mistake as soon as you let him know about it.

Rodney and his team, three additional men, came bright and early on Monday morning . they worked long and hard during the day, taking a very short lunch and almost completed the estimated 3 day job in one day. Two of them came back the next morning for an hour to complete the job. They were very good about caring for our furniture and floors and did a great job of getting everything back in place. It looks great and we could not be more pleased.

The experience was very positive. Rodney was responsive and worked with us to start the job as soon as possible. This was a situation where we lived out of town 3.5 hours away. I could only be in the Charlottesville area for a limited time and asked Rodney to start the job while I was there. We had a very short time frame to work with and Rodney was very willing to work with us. He also understood the value of starting the project while we were still in town to demonstrate his expertise in painting. We were in close contact with him during the entire process and were very pleased with the results.We are planning on painting the exterior of the house as well and hope that Rodney will be available as he is our first choice.

We were completely satisfied and could not find one flaw. The project entailed extensive cut in, which took five guys half a day, then two coats rolled on. A perfect job, completed in one day. The power room was done in a dark blue against white trim and ceiling, not one slip of blue on ceiling or trim, likewise throughout all other spaces. My husband and I were impressed, everything executed beautifully and reasonably priced. Rodney is now our go to guy for painting.

Rodney, Rick, Larry, Charles & Mike were personable and professional. They showed up on time and worked hard and efficiently all day, each day. The quality was great, they were careful with my furniture & possessions, and they left the place clean. When I felt a room needed more coverage at the cut lines (the paint color I chose didn't cover very well) they immediately touched it up. I highly recommend these guys, and plan to have them do another job before putting my house on the market. Hire them--these guys are good people and good painters--at a reasonable price.

Very responsive to any requests. I any items needed a touch-up, he didn't hesitate to do the necessary.

IIn July 2013 Rodney Olson and his crew painted the exterior of our house ? a rather complicated job ? as well as walls, woodwork and ceilings in four rooms inside the house. They also removed wallpaper in our dining room. From start to finish we were extremely pleased with the work. Rodney responded quickly to our request for an estimate, and his prices seemed very fair to us. His crew were uniformly pleasant and considerate, and they cleaned up carefully at the end of each day's work. Rodney was conscientious in supervising his crew and flexible about working around some unexpected small carpentry jobs that needed to be completed before some sections of the exterior could be painted. He and his crew repeatedly invited us to check their work, and they responded well to any wishes we expressed. It is hard for us to imagine a more satisfactory result or a more gratifying process. We have already recommended Rodney's firm to a friend and would certainly want to use them again ourselves. In the course of the work we thought of several things to have painted that were not included in the estimate. In most of these cases Rodney, incredibly, threw in the labor without additional charge. (I guess he thought there had been some misunderstanding for which he was at fault.) In a last case he charged us a trifling amount extra. Get this guy to paint your house! He and his wonderful crew are solid gold.

Rodney was very prompt with estimate and scheduled quickly ,and when the house closing got pushed back he was very prompt in re- schedule to accommodate on the short notice . Very professional & pleasant to work with,paint job was well done considering there can be difficulty painting over oak. Would consider calling again for future estimate /paint job and would recommend to others.

Rodney came out immediately to do an estimate, and was the first company to send in his bid. Rodney and his team showed up on time each day, with a great attitude. Rodney and his team definitely go above and beyond the call of duty. For the animal lovers looking for a team that cares about your pets, Rodney and his team are wonderful. They will be doing additional work for me in the coming months.

Could not have been happier with Rodney and his crew. Always were punctual, very courteous and professional. He performed the job on time, on budget and the house was just as clean as when he arrived. The painting looks fantastic. We will clearly be using him to paint other rooms in our house and could not recommend him more highly

We are out of town owners of our rental house. Rodney was easy to work with.. great communication in letting us know what was going on! We were not able to see the end results ourselves but our agent approved of his work.

Rodney and his team arrived on time, and were completely warm and professional from the time they started until the time they finished. They were extremely friendly to our kids, and courteous to us if/when we needed them to move their vehicles if we needed to get out. We couldn't be more happy about the quality of a paint job they performed on our porches, and door. They look brand new! Thank you so much guys. This was an extraordinary experience!!! Rodney met me to provide the estimate and waited patiently for 45 minutes until the previous owner arrived with the keys. Rodney's estimate was less that half of the estimates provided by two other companies for the same work. And to top it off, the final bill was less than we expected. Our living room, dining room and foyer ceilings were covered in an unknown acoustic material. To his credit, Rodney said that he did not know what to do about it but he would find out. He did his research and called in Ed Sawyer of Ed Sawyers Drywall Co. They figured out how to remove the "stuff", skim coat, resurface, and paint all of the ceilings so that they looked brand new!! Total cost was $875!!! Rodney and his folks were always on time, friendly, and very, very professional. They were also very nice guys; they bonded with our two spoiled dogs, carried in the groceries for my mother-in-law, helped us to move some furniture, shared a fantastic barbeque lunch with us, and became good friends as well as respected professionals. We have already recommended Rodney's Painting Service to other people and we will always use Rodney in the future. The bottom line is that we received an outstanding job (with lots of little extras) at a price that was less than half the price that other companies would have charged us.

It went very good. They did a great job. They cleaned up after themselves, were in and out and it turned out beautiful.

I say challanging because the living room ceiling is dome shaped and probably 20 feet in the center.The rest of the interior has also some very unusual angles..This is probably the 9th or 10th time that I have hired Rodney in the last 4 years.He was,as always, a pleasure to work with and did a wonderful job.

This could not have gone better for us. Rodney never once had an issue with our request. In fact, we were so happy with his work, we are having him return to paint another bedroom for us, and some more trim as well.

They were courteous and clean. And they were very competent.

My husband and I were eager to get our rental townhouse in Charlottesville on the market. We called Mr. Olson on Wednesday morning. He came to the townhouse that afternoon, quickly understood what we needed done and gave us a reasonable estimate. He and his 2-man crew arrived promptly at 0800 the next morning. They worked professionally and quickly and finished by the promised 4 - 5 pm. They painted 3 stairways and risers, select walls throughout the 4-floor unit, as well as all the baseboards. They were neat as they worked, cleaned up completely when they finished and stored the leftover paint in our basement. The place looked brand new. Mr. Olson matched our paint colors perfectly and also recaulked where the old caulk had dried and cracked. He also touched up some doors. This was a thoroughly satisfactory experience and we intend to use Mr. Olson's services in the future.
