I bought a whole house generator from Never Dark in 2007. The staff worked with me to help me decide which circuits to hook up to the generator and which ones we could do without. They came when they said they would, did what they said they would, and charged what they said they would. They have maintained the unit since then, always working professionally and with integrity about schedules, costs, etc. I recommend them highly. My advice to someone who is planning to put in a whole house generator is to take your time with the setup. Throw breakers to find out exactly which lights, receptacles, appliances, etc. are controlled by each breaker. Make careful decisions about what you can and cannot live without during an extended power outage. Never Dark designers will be happy to work with you and give you advice about this.

The planning phase went well. The sales rep came out to survey the area and explained how the system will be set up. He stated that they would take care of the permit and will coordinate with the Propane Gas Company when it came time to install the generator. The sales rep told me they would take care of everything. That they would even walk through the house with me to make sure the system worked properly. Never happened. After I made a down payment on 6/27/12, the system did not get installed until 7/18/12 and that was only after I called them to set it up. They did not contact the Propane Company to let them know when the installation was going to take place; I did that myself too. Those two things I did not mind so much. The thing I found to be disingenuous is that they did not get a permit from the City of Richmond to install the generator. I found this out when the Inspector came to inspect the propane tanks and pipes leading to the generator. Both of these had permits. I called Never Dark to find out what happened and got a total run around from the people in the office. First, they said that "he" was going down to get the permit and that they will call me back. The next day I called them back and the secretary stated that the permits going to be mailed and that she would check on it and call me back. As of this review I still have not heard from anyone at Never Dark. Not an apology, not an explanation as to why a professional company whose business it is to install generators failed to get a permit. This was a big turnoff. The customer service was poor. The workers who installed the system were polite and thorough at what they did. They are the only reason I would give this company a 'D' , otherwise I would give them a 'F'. They had been recommended to me by a co-worker.

We haven't made that purchase yet because it is a whole lot of money. The guy that came was very professional and we liked him.

They did an excellent job. Their price was high. They were professional, polite and efficient. I do not have anything to complain about. It had to be put in a test tube for two days life worth and it worked fine. In terms of price, it was probably fair.

Rick From never dark found my problem right away, replaced the board sealed the generator. He noted me in advance of every step. Very courteous and reliable. He recomended a higher platform for my generator and installed it, upon my approval.

The experience was fine. They're dependable and I would recommend them.

They are the best workers I have ever had in my home. They are extremely customer-oriented. I would definitely use them again in the future.
