 + -1 moreDoug did a great job! He had to order one of the switches...when it arrived he was prompt and professional in installing it. These were small jobs, but if I had a larger job I would most definitely ask Doug to do it.
Description of Work: Put in an outlet and switch in the bathroom. Involved taking a bit of tile off. Late last year Doug also fixed some switches in the hall and installed wiring for a freezer in the basement.

 + 0 moreI called and left a message with Doug, and he called me back the same day. He came the next morning exactly when we'd arranged, and was knowledgable and friendly. I've basically decided that he's the only electrician I will ever call.
Description of Work: Grounded two outlets, troubleshot an outlet that was making lights flutter. It ended up being a bad breaker switch, which he replaced.

 + -1 moreAgain, the story is above, it went very well from the beginning to the end. A true Electrican.
Description of Work: About 2 weeks ago, I got a call from my mother who lives in Va and I am in Florida. She received a letter about the electric wiring outside the house needed to be repair or replaced or her insurance would cancel. By being out of state, again how do you pick a Honest and Trusting Person to take care of this matter. I signed up with Angie's List and picked Doug Whitman , the Electrician. He got back with me in a few days due to a large job he was doing for UVA Univ , he said he was sorry he didn't get back with me that day. So, there again, when people tell me the truth about what is going on I have no problem. He came out and took a look and gave a price. The job was going to take 2 hrs. Well, the job turned into a little more about 8 hours. Also, a few problems came up with repairing the panel box inside. He made a decision to replace the electrical panel, it needed it, It was coroded so badly that he had to break it to get into it.. It was hot that day, all the power was turned off. So, it was getting a little wearing on my Mom. So, Doug took care of the work so my mother would have electric. He took the price that he has quoted my Mom and never asked for any more. Which the job cost more to do. After , talking with Doug about what when on, we worked out the price for the job. But, he still went over board on not charging my mother for the work, because he didn't realize the repair of the Electrical panel. He also told us of a repair on the breakers, which he is concern about, we are getting them fix. So, again, a Job well done. He will be on my list, I hope you put him on your list.

 + -1 moreDoug came the same day I called. I showed him the work I needed which was ri install a new surge protecting outlet behind our flatscreen TV versus fishing the cord through the wall. We agreed on the price and he returned on time on the date. He was quick and efficient and friendly as well. I will definitely use him for more extensive jobs but I really appreciate that he came for the small job. His quality and flexibility would definitely cause me use and recommend him.

 + -1 moreDoug was great, friendly, and really hip. He didn't make me feel like an idiot and was very conversational which I like. He even helped me get my washer back in place which was no easy feat - and he did it with a smile. He is a guy I would use again and again for any electrical needs. He came in, inspected the problem, took the panel cover off and rewired what needed rewiring. Everything works, was cleaned up, and we are off to the races!
Description of Work: Doug the Electrician came in and fixed some wiring in our panel and then checked the outlets to get my washer working. It was not a mammoth job but one that I would not feel comfortable screwing up.

His price was extremely reasonable and he did a very good quality work. He is very knowledgeable. I had two other electricians come out and look at the same thing and they couldn't figure it out and one wanted more money.
