Everything went perfectly from the time Kim worked out the proposal until the job was completed. Shawn made sure the job was completed by the the date we requested. The work crew, Chip, David and Derrick, did all we asked of them. They did a great job!

These are the best painters in Charlottesville. Bill is professional, honest, and responsive. The crew is polite and thorough. I was most impressed with their willingness to return one month after the job and fix a problem that had re-appeared. For me, that is the differentiator between your average contractor and someone who cares.

I'd recommend this outfit. It went well. Got them in for estimate on Wed/Thurs and they had an opening early the following week. I probably paid more than I would've had I waited longer or found some deals online, but they were responsive with the estimate, got in right away, did a nice job with only a few tiny spots that I fixed on my own. I had moved my furniture, so that cost is excluded here. They were in and out basically when they said they would and the painters were nice guys. The paint looks really nice.

It took 3 and 1/2 days for the guys to complete the work. A few times one would be pulled for another job. We used 6 different paint colors throughout the home, including two reds which are difficult to paint. The guys all did a great job. I did notice that on the final day they were more in a hurry and did not take down the light fixture in the master bathroom, but painted around it. All in all, I was extremely happy with their work on our home. I have recommended them to friends. I don't remember all their names but Angelo and Scott did a lot of the work and they were terrific.

When Bill Canavan came to do the quote, I showed him the front porch that has a lot of mildew and was the priority for pressure washing. I also showed him 3 boards of siding high up on the house that I wanted prepped and painted because the paint was peeling. I mentioned that we had also replaced a few siding boards elsewhere that needed painting, and asked to get a quote on that too as a possible add-on (since I could easily paint those myself). When I got the quote, it had a price for pressure washing the porch ($135) and a price for painting the peeling boards and the new boards together ($100). I decided to paint the new boards myself, because they are low down and easy to reach. While painting those, I noticed that parts of two other walls also had mildew, and called Certa Pro to ask if they could add pressure washing those to the quote also. They said it would be $150 extra. That seemed a little high, considering those walls were not nearly as mildewed as the front porch, but it was a larger area so I didn't question it. The painter called me to schedule the work for Nov. 23. He called that morning to ask if he could come the day after instead. Not a big deal, but he didn't explain a reason for the delay so it seemed a little unprofessional. He came the next day and did the work in about 2 hours. Afterwards, I came by to inspect the work. Everything that was pressure washed looked great. The area that needed painting due to peeling paint looked good, although there was a small area near there that they hadn't done. I pointed it out and he painted it. I was disappointed that the total price was $385 ($135+$100+150). I thought it would be less because they didn't paint the new siding boards (I had already painted them). When I looked at the original contract, it did say that the painting would be $100 (for peeling boards and new boards together). I guess I should have asked about the price after I painted the new boards myself, as the painting job would then be smaller. Overall I was happy with the quality of the work. The only negative was that when I put away the paint can they used, I noticed that it was not hammered closed all the way. If I hadn't noticed that, the paint could have dried out. I would probably use Certa Pro again, but ask more explicit questions about the price quotes.

Our crew was conscientious and did a good job. The owner met with us at the start of the job and as it neared completion to be sure we were happy with the paint job and the crew's work habits. Certa-Pro was also the lowest of three estimates. We would definitely use them again.

Chip and Scott did an excellent job painting our house. Our house is approx. 3000 sq ft with many windows and architectural details to deal with. The house looks great. They were professional and courteous. We are very happy with our experience with Certapro Painters.

I was very pleased with CertaPro of Charlottesville. Bill provided a comprehensive and competitive estimate. The crew, headed up by Jorge, arrived when expected and the crew worked skillfully and quickly. Jorge responded to my questions and suggestions while the crew worked, and the crew cleaned up the worksite nicely at the end of each of the two days on the job. In the office, Angie was helpful on scheduling and arranging the payment. As I have inspected the work in the weeks since the work was done, I remain very satisfied with the quality of the materials used and the quality of the work. I have recommended CertaPro of C'ville to neighbors, I will call CertaPro the next time I need to have the house painted.

Went very well. Exterior sides of house had algae build up which required manual brushing of exterior in addition to power wash. Thoroughly cleaned algae, professional in conduct and appearance. Took care to not damage spring plantings. Took care in applying paint ot both trim and deck.

They were very professional when they came out and gave me their estimate. The price of the service was reasonable and went over my expectations. They seemed to be very competent and knowledgeable. When I inspected the job it was terrible. I need the house to be painted because the paint tiling, they hadn't done any scrapping they just painted right over the old tiling paint, so the new paint immediately was tiling off. There was no prep work. But, they came back and they made it right but I would never use them again. The owner was great but the actual painters were not great.

Communication was flawless. Job scheduling flowed smoothly from estimate, scheduling, admin, color communication, crew arrival, execution, cleanup and completion. Also included was a repair so a door could be reattached to frame where the screw holes had become enlarged and screws were loose. A door sweep was also attached. I was extremely relieved that the job was scheduled in so quickly as I had worn myself out painting 4 other rooms in my condo. Being exhausted from that effort finding a painting company who could step in and take over was a lifesaver. The 2 man crew were careful and checked with me at junctures in the project. Much appreciated was the one day completion. The new paint job is stunning. Owner Bill Canavan came at job start to verify job details with his crew and myself. My headache is GONE. Bill's professionalism and high standards permeated the execution of the entire project from start to finish.

Both this and our previous experience with CertaPro were excellent. They painted the exterior of our home in 2012 and most recently our Master Bedroom, Master Bath, Terrace Level Bedroom, Rec Room and Main Floor Ceilings. Both jobs were handled in a timely and professional manner and the quality of the work was top notch. We will definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

The estimate process is spot on . The issues came in with pricing . Price was quite high but after some negotiation we got it down to be competitive with other bids.The crew was awesome ... Clean and courteous . Painting was done quickly . Upon inspection the next day there were some areas that didn't take and it unfortunately took several days to get a call back . Once I messages the owner I was quickly called and the crew returned and repainted those areas . So far everything looks good. I was happy overall and the financing was the glue for us in choosing this company . They had a good reputation and that mattered a great deal . The office end isn't the best( a lot of short text messages at times where a follow up phone call would have been much more professional! ) but the owner and the crew are pretty good so over all happy and would recommend .

We contacted Certa Pro based on a good Angies list rating and a personal recommendation from a friend who had used them in the past. Bill came out to look at the project within a few days of initial contact and was able to provide a written estimate of the painting (stain) part of the job before he left. He used a computer based formula to estimate the painting job and included the credit for the Angies list coupon we gave him at the time of the estimate. The carpentry repairs were included in the estimate on a time and materials basis since it was dificult to know exactly what might be underneath the damaged trim boards. Bill thought it should be about a week for the painting team and about a day for the carpenters. Bill expected it would be 3 to 4 weeks before they could start the work (weather permitting) but they would stay on the job until it was finished one they did get started. We accepted the proposal a few days later (it was considerably less than the other bid we had recieved). To our surprise, Certa Pro contacted us within a week and asked if we could schedule the job to start sooner. The painting team (Chip was the team lead) was great. They arrived each day around 8:00 and worked until 4:30. They only missed one day for weather. They were very professional and did a great job making progress everyday and making sure the ladders and materials were stack up neatly every day. They were very careful of the plantings around the house and even worked around a nesting house wren who was hatching chicks (they just fledged two days ago). They did two coats on the southern exposure wall because they were not satisified with the way a single coat covered. High marks all around. The carpenter team ended up taking longer than expected to remove damaged boards and replace them. One team showed up on the 2nd day of the project and then a different team showed up two days after that. There was some loss in communication between the carpenter teams and progress seemed slower than we had expected. In the end they finished in time for the painters to complete the final punch out and the quality of the work was fine. They did not provide an in progress estimate on the labor and materials and the carpentry charge that was presented to us was considerably higher than we had hoped. We spoke to Bill the next day and he understood our concern and we compromised on a reduced charge that seemed more reasonable. Overall we found working with Certa Pro to be a great experience and we would recommend them to others. The painters were top notch and the pricing very reasonable. If you have a part of your project that requires time and materials, we would suggest you include a not- to -exceed number in the contract as a measue of protection and reduce the chance of miscommunication.

I can't get them to return my calls. I've left at least four messages and despite leaving both my cell and work numbers, I've only gotten one call back while on my cell phone...while I was at work.

Great job from the moment they came out to give an estimate. Very professional. Showed up on time, very cordial and responsive to our needs. Bill did a great job assessing what the house would need and provided a printed estimate before he left our house that afternoon! Once we signed the contract, they had a team out the very next week and they did an excellent job. We will definitely use CetraPro painters again should the need arise!

Great. Excellent job, on time both days, worked continuously throughout the day. Very professional in their conduct as well as the product they provided. Certa-Pro checked with us each day to make sure we were satisfied with the work was being performed to our expectations and followed up after completion to make sure we were satisfied with their work. Extremely efficient, courteous work crew. Will definitely call Certa-Pro for other difficult paint jobs at our home. No reservations in having them back!

Contacted CertaPro while interviewing contractors for some exterior repair, painting. Promptly responded, showed up on time for initial interview, a quote was provided in a timely manner. The agent was professional and seemed to know his business. The cost of the exterior painting was comparable to the other quotes that I'd gotten from several of the bigger remodeling companies. Ended up not using them as the repair part of the proposal (rotted molding, replace rotted window frames) was not initially included in the quote and had to request again and then that part seemed to be of secondary consideration to their interest.

This was a textbook good job except for two points of trickery. The initial meeting and quoting process was professional. I haggled a slightly reduced price and the two man team started work a few days later.Their painting work was top notch and we're happy with the results. They did do irreparable damage to the aluminum siding because of not using ladder pads. They gave me a 10% discount as compensation. Trick one that I fell for: one coat vs two. The workers left two test patches with either one or two coats for me to inspect. I selected two coats because the one coat patch was unacceptable. My negotiated discount evaporated in an overpriced second coat. Later, I used the leftover paint for another piece of trim. I could not replicate the bad single coat patch unless I squeezed the roller dry of paint. I now feel duped because one coat would've been fine. Trick two: extra work. Originally we decided to leave one porch ceiling bare but decided to paint it. CertaPro charged an exorbitant amount for the small surface, but I didn't negotiate a price ahead of time and lost that battle too. Overall, the quality is great and the workers are punctual, tidy, professional, and a pleasure to work with. The price was high and the salesmanship was too riddled with tricks for me to recommend them to friends.

We are preparing our home for sale and needed the entire inside as well as a few outside areas painted. The owner of the company, Bill came over to give me an estimate. He honored the Angie's list coupon (which really helped decrease the cost.) He was very thorough and gave me a detailed estimate. The workers were very diligent and hardworking. They painted for about 9 days (we have a large house.) The painters were very polite and attempted to be as minimally disruptive to my family as possible. The house looks fabulous and I would definitely recommend this company to my friends.
