It is nice, for the first time in the past 22 years, to wake up in a house that I’m not cold when the temperature dips below 32 degrees in Virginia. Tonight’s temperature was minus 5 degrees. Jimmy North and his Team at AirFlow Systems in Charlottesville, VA installed an entire new system in my home in February 2017. Not only has my electric bill dropped by almost half, the comfort of our home is unbelievably consistent year round. He had NO PRESSURE sales and does NOT RIP you off or over charge. His prices for the EXACT same system was several thousand dollars less expensive than TWO other competitors in the area. Once completed there were no up sale tactics. I love my new Trane AC/Heat Pump, Trane LP Gas furnace system. It barely runs and keeps the home toasty. Thank you Air Flow Systems for getting it right. Also, prior to this new Trane system, AirFlow Systems has been regularly maintaining my old system. When it needed parts he did not mark them up. When I asked why Jimmy said he didn’t believe. I doubled checked the relay they replaced one time and a capacitor another time and I could find it anywhere on the Internet cheaper for the EXACT same parts. An OVERTIME visit was QUICK and $25 more than their normal hourly rate. When the old system went down, I asked for an estimate to replace and upgrade the entire system...and well you’ve read the rest of the story. Good quality work, very reasonable price, work performed as promised. Equipmet was an Amana 16 Seer heat pump outdoor unit, with indoor handler, electric heat package, digital thermostat, and refrigerant line set. They removed the old unit and installed the new one in around 7 hours of work.

Work was performed in an exceptional manner--very prompt, very professional staff and workers, very caring people--will definitely call this company as long as is owned by the North's.

Airflow was great- it was a tough week and really hard to get appointments with HVAC servicers. They were very friendly and helpful on the phone, gave me a same-day appointment without charging extra, called and were very apologetic when their technician was slightly late (understandable at such a busy time!) and handled the problem quickly at a reasonable price. We will definitely contact them again- hopefully just for preventive maintenance next time!

Our old heat pump finally died so we called Jimmy North for advice on dual fuel heat pumps. We have used Air Flow a number of times in the past and they have been servicing our current heat pump. They have always been great to work with. After a thorough look at our needs, Jimmy provided us two possible solutions that met our budget and performance needs. Installation was prompt and all the technicians were friendly, knowledgable and professional. The system works well and looks as though it will meet all our needs. And since the new system is a much higher efficiency and SEER rating, it should save us quite a bit in heating and cooling expenses. I highly recommend Air Flow and certainly will use them again in the future.

Air Flow Systems is fabulous. I worked with Mike Hall, one of their engineers. Their team of installers was great. They explain everything about the system, helped me gather the forms for the Virginia and Federal tax credits and they took a lot of extra time with me to explain how the system works. They showed me how to maintain it and check or change filters. The installation process went well according to my home builder. Mike also told me that since the implementation of the tax credit, he has been able to install hundreds of the systems and that made me very confident in their services. You could tell that they really knew what they were doing. They also explained what plantings and landscaping I could do after the installation that would be safe for the system, since the system is buried 5' underground. They are super customer friendly. They answer calls and emails. They are an incredibly responsive team. I haven't needed to use it yet, but they have a 24 hour emergency hotline which I really like. I had one weekend when I had to sleep in the basement due to other work being done upstairs, and I was all of 6' from the unit, with no walls, and had no trouble sleeping! It was so quiet! I won't have to worry about a gas or oil bill again.

They are very courteous and on time. They do neat service. I will use them again in the future.

After being gone on vacation, I came home to find the upstairs heat pump not working and the temperature upstairs over 90 degrees. I had been acquainted with Airflow and called them to come check out the situation. They came out the same day and gave me the bad news... the upstairs heat pump was irreparable. Jimmy North, one of the owners, explained all my options: he advised me of the new SEER standards; the tax credits available; all my product options; financing available; guarantees and warranties; and when they could have the unit installed. After getting several other quotes, I used Airflow to replace the broken upstairs unit, AND the downstairs unit since it was just as old as the one upstairs. They installed them both within days, the guys were delightful and very clean, and I have seen a dramatic drop in my energy consumption and electric bills. I will never use anyone else but Airflow!

I have used them over 20 years and over that course of time not everything has always gone smooth but when there has been a problem they have busted their behinds to take care of it. They are easy to work with and they eventually do what they say they will do; they don't always get it right the first time but they get it right. I will use them again in the future.

Everything went very good. I was very impressed with the overall work. I would highly recommend this company to anyone. They were very professional and answered every question.

We have had nothing but trouble with the HVAC system that Airflow Systems installed in our new house. It began with the AC failing in our house this past spring on the first warm day. The repair technicians sparked a fire, which they put out, when they came to fix it. The air conditioning then stank the entire summer. When we asked to have it resolved, the technicians told us to get fragrance pellets and put them in the vents. Since we have chemical sensitivities and most air masking products contain toxic chemicals, there was no way we were going to do that. We ran our AC as little as possible because we fortunately had a cool summer. When we turned on the heat in the fall, the system again stank. This was not the customary burning-off smell the first couple times a furnace is turned on in a season. It was non-stop and cough-inducing. It continued to smell very, very bad until the system totally failed early on the morning of Dec. 31. The technician came again and told us that the compressor had failed this time and had shorted out the system. He was able to get the fan and emergency heat functioning again. Since it was just 10:00 in the morning, I explicitly and emphatically asked that the replacements for the broken parts be ordered THAT DAY. We waited out the long weekend. On Monday my husband called and asked about the completion of the work. He was told the parts had been ordered. I called on Tuesday to ask about the completion of the work. I was also told the parts had been ordered, but I then asked when they had been ordered. They had waited FIVE DAYS to order our parts during the coldest days of winter and had not ordered them until Monday even though I had been very clear that they should be ordered on Thursday. Warren said that they hadn't received any deliveries on Monday anyways. Duh! They hadn't ordered anything on the previous workday so why would anything come in? He then said he couldn't have ordered it on Thursday because the factory closed at noon. I responded that they knew at 10:00 in the morning that we needed the part and I had been very clear about asking that it be ordered that day. There was also a time zone advantage giving them even one additional hour to order. In response, I was assured they would be back to complete the repair on Wednesday or Thursday after the UPS delivery, since the part was coming from the factory. On Thursday I called to ask about the completion of the work. They didn't know where the part was. I told them that their communication with us about the situation was non-existent and I wanted to be kept informed of the status of our repair. I also pointed out that UPS always knows where their packages are and I can track the smallest order I ever place. Why couldn't they do the same? I also said I had never in my life had such a repair take so long. On Friday I called to ask about the completion of the work. Oh, finally, they told me it wasn't being delivered by UPS, but on a local transport truck from the factory. They would have it in by that afternoon...It was a long, cold weekend. On Monday afternoon, TWELVE FULL DAYS LATER, they called and said they would be there in 20 minutes to fix our heat pump. It just so happened that my husband was home so they actually could come. In my last conversation I asked what they would do to make up for the inconvenience and our elevated electric bill from using use emergency heat for so long. Warren said maybe they would give us a break on the labor charges. I said it was under warranty, so that was empty. Nothing was even acknowledged of what we went through. Nothing was done to ameliorate their lack of performance. The only good thing was the really bad stink was gone for the first time this winter after the heat pump was FINALLY repaired.
