Advantage Home Contracting

We are so thrilled with our new screened porch completed by Advantage in May 2022. The work was completed in approximately the time frame quoted and very professionally. We have used Advantage several times and would not hesitate to recommend them.

I contacted 3 contracting companies to get an estimate and have my plywood chimney taken down. We've lived in the house 27 years and not once used the fire place. The way the structure was built and integrated to the house it was a leak and maintenance liability. Two of the 3 wanted no part of the job, but would not tell me outright. In spite of follow up calls to the contractors nothing materialized. Only Advantage Home Contracting was willing to take on the job. Their carpenter Robbie was assigned to tear down the chimney and install siding to the house where the chimney was including new facia and soffit boards, and patch/fill structure the gap on the roof where the chimney was. The job was to be charged time and material. Robbie got everything done in a day and a half, to a very good standard. Robbie was very careful to nail down and apply tarps to protect the house when he left after the first day. If you are paying by the hour Robbie is the guy you want working for you. He is highly skilled, fast, and efficient. The Roofing Crew was just as good. They were very personable, if I had a question they answered it. If I was trying to lift or move something in my yard and one of them was on the ground they helped me. What impressed me the most was they arrived at 8:30 AM stripped my roof to the plywood laid all the under-layment checked and nailed down any loose decking, patched two large holes where turbines were, installed new shingles ridge vents, drip edge, and wove the valleys. The crew finished the job in one day and didn't leave till 8:30 PM. A 12 hour day in very hot weather. How many crews will work that hard & go that far! I was very appreciative because the next day thunderstorms were forecast. They worked like a well organized team independently but together. They were very careful to magnetically sweep the area for nails that may have found their way to the ground during the tear down. They even swept my driveway and patio. The roof looks great. The next day the dumpster that was put in my yard to collect waste was picked up. The VP/ supervisor of roofing and siding John Cox visited the site every day that to ensure the work was proceeding to a high standard and to address any concerns I had. I sought 3 other estimates for the re roof Advantage Home Contracting's price was very competitive when compared to the others. On the next day after everything was done John stopped by to look everything over. We talked he assured me if there are any problems that they will take care of it. John even applied for the Veteran's rebates for the GAF shingles for me. He took the rebates off my bill. I am very pleased with this company, and would not hesitate to hire them in the future.

I had to jump through some hoops with my homeowner's association. We're finishing the paperwork to get it approved through the homeowner's association. We have an August start date. It turns out that my stuff took a little-left turn. I'm actually having the deck replaced with a non-maintenance option. I didn't realize that was available. It's an artificial composite option that is not going to require any maintenance, no yearly sealing, no painting, no nothing. You'd just wash it off with detergent and a hose. So, I didn't know all of those options were available until I talked to the other company. It was reasonable and under my budget, the composite material was a little more expensive than replacing with real boards and wood, but that is it. There's a 20-year warranty and no yearly maintenance. I had to do a $500.00 deposit, for the work, not for the estimate. The estimate was free. They got back to me very quickly. The whole experience has been an ''A'' experience.
