Darren Smith Appliance Repair

The service visit went fine. Mr. Smith has a relaxed and cheerful demeanor and was thoroughly professional throughout. He is very methodical and determined the problem quickly. He was completely candid about the seriousness of my problem and how the best thing for me was just to buy a new refrigerator, even though my existing looks brand new and is only six years old. He has been fixing refrigerators for a long time and has very strong opinions about the quality of build of today's refrigerators, which he isn't shy about sharing. I have absolutely no qualms about using him again in a similar circumstance.

He came early and was very accommodating. He did an excellent job in fixing the issue.

Darren always has responded immediately to our needs. He also hums music while he works and is extremely efficient. This is the third time he's helped us out, and we definitely will be calling on him for future appliance issues.

Darren diagnosed the problem over the phone. He ordered the part and had to hound the company to ship it to him. He then had so many jobs that he was willing to work Thanksgiving morning to install the part, replace the stove and it was cooking the turkey before 10 a.m.!

Mr. Smith spent all of ten minutes at our house. We had two complaints about the refrigerator, and both were intermittent noises that would come and go. We had video/audio of the noises, but Mr. Smith oddly refused to watch the video to understand the issue. He did fix one of the noises, which is a positive. On the other hand, he continued to explain a second noise as a normal part of the refrigerator's functioning, when that was not the noise we were asking about. We got so frustrated with his poor listening skills that we gave up. For ten minutes worth of work (no parts), he charged the $85 service call fee and an additional $50 labor. There is no chance we will use his services again.

He arrived on time, and even called when he was on the way. I showed him the refrigerator and explained that it had been leaking from the bottom for quite some time (3 yrs!) but that it was getting worse. Within a few minutes he had taken off the panel in the back of the freezer and showed me ice build up on the condensation coils. He explained how they were supposed to work and diagnosed the problem as a clogged drain. He spent another few minutes with the frig pulled out and unclogged the drain and put everything back together. That was over two weeks ago and there has not been a single drop leaking anywhere. We are thrilled because the refrigerator is only 3.5 years old and we didn't want to have to buy a new one so soon. It was well worth the $175 to have the machine put right rather than spending 10 times that for a new one!!

Darren diagnosed the problem over the phone and ordered the part right away. The part came in a couple of days and Darren notified me immediately and set up a time to install it. He came on time and the installation was very quick. Throughout, Darren was very professional and efficient. I highly recommend him. The price he charged seemed to be in line with what other providers are charging.

Darren arrived on time and immediately went to work troubleshooting the ice maker in our freezer. After a few minutes of trying a few things, he diagnosed the issue being a bad emitter and receiver that judges the threshold of ice buildup before the machine shuts off. They are not receiving power and he said that it could have stopped working due to a surge in power from a storm. Makes sense. He gave me quotes on the replacements costs of the emitter and receiver and I told him I would think about it since these tiny parts cost so much you could almost buy another fridge. Darren then changed a washer hose on the washing machine. In summary, the service was great and fast. He followed up a few days later with a phone call saying he was unable to find any places that offered cheaper replacement parts that he trusted. I highly recommend Darren.

I hoped that repair might be possible. Darren Smith was prompt, punctual and polite. He diagnosed the problem quickly, and clearly explained his recommendation that repair would not be economical and that purchasing a new replacement was the sensible next step. Since no repair work was done, he reduced his service call price to $60 (from the normal $85). Because Darren Smith only repairs appliances, and does not sell them, I was able to trust his recommendation.

This man knows his business; showed up when he said he would and got things working again in a jiffy.

This went very well. Man - he was good. Overall and quot;A+and quot; . Definitely recommend! My fridge was dead to the world and I managed to go on-line (youtube) and do the initial repair myself. I figured out the part I needed, ordered the part and installed it. All good. And then I could not figure how to turn the darn thing on...and I could not figure out how to replace an important screw I had removed in my troubleshooting process! I called Darren, explained the problem, and although he was booked the next day, he said he would come over between appointments and assess the situation and possibly do the repair if it was quick. He asked me how I figured out the initial the repair and when I told him I used the internet, he nodded in approval. He even suggested a website!! How awesome is that!! He asked me where I got the part and let me know it was a reliable company. He was punctual, worked quickly, and seemed very intelligent in a global sort-of way about politics and the world. The smell from the freezer was not pleasant (fish going bad) and he did not make me feel ashamed/embarrassed about the smell- that is a really good quality in a fridge repairman!! He then showed me how the screw hole was stripped and managed to repair/solve that problem for me, as well as the ridiculously easy way to turn the fridge on (and he did not make me feel embarrassed in the slightest about being so blind!). He worked under an hour and charged $95 for the trip and labor. This is probably very normal pricing, although I do not have a comparison. For price I said and quot;B- goodand quot;. (The fact that i was frustrated for paying for silly mistakes on my part might be why I gave it a and quot;Band quot; and not an and quot;Aand quot;).

Darren was excellent. Darren was very professional, and he completed all three projects in a timely manner. I highly recommend Darren for any appliance repair jobs.

Darren was very easy to reach - left him a voicemail and he called back promptly even though it was in the evening. Quickly identified the issue when he got here and had it resolved promptly. Highly recommend Darren - he's pleasant, professional, experienced, and his price seemed very fair. Will definitely call him again if the need arises.

I removed the part, sent it to the recommended company, and the repair was successful.

Darren was responsive, thorough, competent, and polite. He did not charge us until all the work was done, including ordering the parts. He was great.

Darren returned my calls promptly, came out to assess the problem and returned in a timely manner with the part necessary to make the repair. I wish I'd called him in the first place! I will call him in the future for any further appliance repairs I may need.

He couldn't diagnose the problem so I was advised to "giggle the wires" when Sears came over they informed me I was lucky I didn't get hurt. playing with connection wires is an electrocution hazard.

This took 1.5 hrs and appears to have fixed the problem.

Darren fixed my washing machine. He even managed to work me into a very busy schedule, so that I could use it over the weekend. I overloaded it and broken the agitator gizmo. He had the gizmo with him and had my machine up and running in no time. I highly recommend him for your appliance repair needs! As a matter of fact, he's going to fix a drawer in my refrigerator as soon as the part for it arrives. He doesn't know it yet, but I'm going to ask him to fix my icemaker in the basement refrigerator, as well.

As depicted by previous reviews Darren was prompt, professional, and pleasant. He wasn't immediately available to attend to our broken dishwasher however called within a day and indicated he had a cancellation and subsequently fixed our problem same day. We will definitely use his services again!
