Chris did a great job of helping us find the right stone and explaining all the differences between granite, quartz, and marble. We got a great deal (far less than any other place we looked), and the installation team was on time, professional, and did a beautiful job. They also installed the kitchen sink, which made things a lot easier. We are very happy!

Fantastic. Picked out my granite on Saturday, they measured on Monday. Installed the granite on Friday. Sink had a scratch, so their awesome plumber came out on Saturday at 8am and promptly finished. Very satisfied.

Couldn't have went much better. We came in and saw Sait on Saturday. He asked us about our project and proceeded to show us several slabs he thought we might be interested in. We didn't feel rushed or pressured, he even showed us some of the exotics even though he knew we would be spending that much money. We agreed on a stone, and they were out that Monday to measure. Friday of the same week they came out to install. Everyone we dealt with was very professional and on time.

We contacted Virginia Marble & Granite (VMG) because of Angie's List ratings and other research along with several other possible NVA contractors. We first spoke with one of the owners, Travis May, who seemed great. We especially liked what seemed to be fair pricing while the knowledge and service oriented approach of Mr. May was very impressive. We decided to pursue VMG as a possible source after the initial meeting at the VMG location because among other favorable signs unlike many other contractors who wanted to charge by the slab, Mr. May spoke of the VMG policy to just charge by the sq. ft. based on what was used. He explained they could do that because they bought so much granite from so many sources. After the initial contacts, it became difficult to get Mr. May's help but we were referred to another VMG sales agent. When we checked on the VMG price for a granite we found at a supplier just across the street from VMG to which we had been referred by VMG as a supplier and from where they were reported to buy granite for their customers to fabricate and install whatever we found the price by VMG would actually be based on the whole "slabs" we needed and not just sq. ft. as initially we were told :( We still continued to pursue the possibility of using VMG... BUT when we finally arranged for another agent of VMG to come to our home to make an actual measurement for a specific granite choice ... what a surprise!!! At the outset of arriving at out home the VMG measuring agent met our kitchen project designer / manager who immediately found the VMG agent appear to be in quite the hurry and far less than friendly! He actually appeared to 3 of us present - owner, cabinet maker and designer / manager - to be more than a little disgusted he had to even be at our home! :/ The VMG agent began attempting to design the granite tops we wanted with a clearly unfriendly and unpleasant attitude evident! We had already designed what we wanted in great detail using 2 kitchen design but all 3 of us soon found we could not get the VMG agent to even understand those simple cardboard designs we had exactly measured! He did not even seem to understand what we wanted when shown an actual color picture of the exact top and corners froma full page color picture! When asked if he would just tell us if he could or could not design what we wanted he became even more irritated than when he arrived at our home then packing up his gear informed us he was leaving and would send another agent of VMG to do the measure. Really? Why would anyone even consider another agent from the same contractor after such an unfriendly impertinent, impudent and impatient agent had been sent to our home??? In the words of Gen. Anthony McAuliffe who commanded the 101st Airborne Division during WW II ... our final assessment of this experience ..... "NUTS!"
Description of Work: We searched for some time to find a granite fabricator and installer who also had access to the material. What we wanted was about 120 sq. ft of granite for a complete kitchen remodeling project with multiple counter top surfaces and a full back-splash.

The installers were arrive on time, were very professional. took their time, cleaned up after they were done. The plumber was here on time, connected the new sink and the new faucet. The only problem I have with this company they did not do a follow up call to see if everything went well and see if we were satisfied. I was very disappointed with the person who sold us the granite. I have two friends who would like to use them, don't know if I will recommend them. Would I hire them again I don't know. Below I have to say yes or know.

I was satisfied with them. My husband had a problem with them. Except for that bad experience with my husband, I would use them again. What was wrong was that they had a lot of small expenses that we didn't know would be included. They were unexpected. In fact, my husband said that they were small things that he could have done himself and gotten it much cheaper. It would be important for other Angie's List members to expect the unexpected charges, just the incidentals. Another small thing was, for a cabinet, they should have put the door in the opposite side and one of the fixtures didn't match the others. But overall, they weren't bad. This was the first time we used them. They came right in and got the job done. They worked well and got out.

Virginia Marble and Granite did a fantastic job with our kitchen. The measuring and scheduling were seamless - Chris was great to work with. The old marble counters had been glued down to plywood backing. It was a tough demo but the installers were total pros. The new counters look amazing and we would definitely use Virginia Marble and Granite again.

the job started off slowly with my having to remind the consultant I was still waiting for the bid. Changes were easily negotiated and the designer was readily available. The best thing I can recommend is to have the name of the product you want installed written on the contract. Otherwise I found that I didn't always get exactly what I thought I was paying for (such as Lumber Liquidators flooring and Elfa shelving instead of custom rollouts). Also, if you want an electrician and a certified plumber, be prepared to pay extra. In the end, there was a $3,000 error in the bill, so check closely. I wish I could say their granite work was perfect, but it wasn't. I asked them to duplicate a simple design from their showroom, but come installation day, I found out that couldn't be done. Then I came home to 2 pieces of the granite backsplash cut and installed in the wrong direction.

Pros: The work started on schedule and was done in less then three weeks. The price, even with some surprise charges was more reasonable compared to other bids I have had over the years. Cons: The crew did not speak English and the Foreman was not around during much of the job. If we needed to communicate something to the crew we had to call the Foreman and do a phone chain. At one point we needed to have the guys move their truck so the new appliances could be brought in the garage and I had to use hand signals to get them to move it out of the way. Drywall dust was everywhere. We have young children and I don?t want them breathing things they don?t need to in to their lungs. I asked before the work started if the work crew would seal off the work area and keep the dust to a minimum. I was told this would be handled. Instead, all they did was put drop clothes over some of the furniture and sealed nothing off at all. It took weeks after they crew left before I cleaned all the places in the house the drywall dust ended up. The crew left the demoed kitchen cabinets with all the exposed sharp nails in our back yard until they where good and ready to take them away. The kids could not play in the back yard for two weeks because it was not safe for them to do so. Every time the refrigerator comes on I am reminded of the less than perfect electrical work they did because the pot lights dim. The microwave was doing this as well so I asked that they switch the plugs to one that was not on the same circuit as the new lights they installed. I had to do the research for them with an extension cord to figure out what outlets in the kitchen would not affect the new lights. Once I figured it out we had them do the move. And they charged us extra $$$ for this move. It was not until after the job was done that I noticed the refrigerator was also diming the lights. Both of the electrical outlets that dim the lights are the ones the remolding company installed for the appliance relocation. I should have left the lighting and electrical to a licensed professional electrician and will likely have someone come in and check the work to fix the other outlet that affect the new lighting system. Minor but worth noting - There are still some expose shims I missed during my punch list, a few kitchen doors that stick, and they had to use caulk to hide the fact the granite back splash was not flush to the wall with substantial gap. They said "my old house walls are not plum" but if they knew that it should have been corrected or let me know the consequences before rather then after the fact. Bottom Line: Some of the work was top notch while other parts left me not wanting to use the group again. If you have the time to stay on top of the work, know some Spanish so that you can talk with the crew in real time, and insist on written change orders with the dollar amount attached for any extra work they want to do (mistake on my part that lead to charges I was not aware of), it may be worth the moderate financial savings.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel including demo, new cabinets, appliance hook up, painting, granite counter tops, tile floor, new sink, faucet, garbage disposal, switch out from florescent lighting to recessed pot lights, some minor drywall work to expand the opening to the dinning room and pluming and electric to accommodate the new floor plan.

After visiting several businesses and getting bids, we decided to go with Virginia Marble and Granite. Their bid seemed the most reasonable and they had an excellent selection of materials. We chose one of the Angie's List varieties that was specially priced. They also provided the sinks while we bought our faucets and disposals elsewhere. Our one problem was that first we had to remove the old tile countertops. This was a big and messy job. Virginia Marble and Granite gave us the name of a worker who would do the demolition for an extra fee. Considering the amount of work involved in the tile removal, the fee was reasonable. I am sure that had our surfaces been formica or some such solid surface, the removal would have been way easier. Once the tile was removed, the Virginia Marble and Granite team came in for the granite installation. It only took a few hours to complete the job. Since then, our kitchen is much more user-friendly and the counters look great.

It worked out very well. I went to them because of their price and they seemed to know what they were doing. They did a good job and got it done on time. There were some issues related to the tiling they did and the walls. When they worked in the bathroom and they manage pushed the nails out and all the basic steps.

VA Marble and Granite did a very professional job of coming out to measure our countertops in the kitchen and master bathroom. The man who came out to do the measurements did a stand up job and they got back to us in a good timely manner with a quote. We received three quote in total to include one from VA Marble and Granite and decided to go with another company. That being said, I was impressed with how timely the company scheduled for the initial measurement and estimation. The cost was on par with the other estimates, we just couldn't arrange a time to view the warehouse of granite and marble to get a firm pricing in the amount of time we had. I would recommend the VA Marble and Granite, great customer service.

LOVE this company! They make it so easy. We got this thing done within 10 days and it was no problem. We used the AL coupon for $37/sq ft granite. Even though there were only 10 colors to choose from, the slabs were so nice we felt like we had a ton of choices. They were all gorgeous. Start to finish great service, very pleasant people. The salesman used no pressure at all, was able to walk us through the process quickly but without rushing. He showed me all the less costly ways of getting what I wanted. After they came and measured, I decided to change my choice of slab, and again that was no problem at all. They came early! We were expecting them between 1 and 3 p.m., but they were here by 11:30 a.m. and stayed until about 5 p.m. Be warned that it is very, very noisy and stinky. The epoxy they use is just toxic smelling. I feel sorry for the guys who have to do this every day. Choose a day when you can throw open all the windows. Part of the deal was a plumber (you don't have to use theirs--we chose to simply to make it easier). He got the whole thing done easily. Very satisfied with his work. They cleaned up well and were very polite. We are thrilled with the result. Totally recommend!
