This was my first remodeling job working with a contractor, so I was trying to keep my expectations in check, while hoping that things would go smoothly. I talked to a couple other remodeling companies and the folks at VKB made me feel the most comfortable and, I felt, had the most options when it came to tile, vanities, countertops, and hardware for the vanity. Other places wanted to give me an allowance so I could buy my own fixtures, but VKB walked me through some options online and handled ordering the right parts themselves. I see where this could have been risky if the parts weren't to my liking, but I appreciate not having to do that shopping myself and constantly worrying if I'm getting the right parts, so for me, this was an important distinction with the other companies I was talking to. I also found the designer, Dale, a pleasure to work with. He provided useful opinions when I was having trouble coming up with ideas, and when I did have thoughts on something, he would run with that to come up with other options that would work with it. The work was performed by two people (it was a small bathroom, after all), and they seemed to move at a pretty good clip. I think the work would have been completed in seven or eight days if not for an issue with the bull nose tile not being available in the style we needed. VKB took the initiative and had some tile custom cut at no additional cost to me. That may have added a few days, but I appreciated that they wanted to do the job right instead of just slapping the wrong tile in there and never telling me or charging me for the mistake. The final work was exceptional, in my un-expert opinion. Tile work looks wonderful and everything appears to be well sealed and caulked. Painting has good lines and seems consistent. I only have a few issues that I don't think materially affected the outcome. First, I would have preferred over-communication to the limited communication I received throughout the job. I was told I would be provided with a schedule of the work being done so I'd know when to be available to make necessary decisions. Unfortunately, no schedule, but it never seemed to be a significant problem. I was promised a lockbox would be used to store my house keys for the crew to use. The lockbox never happened and I suppose I never made an issue of it, but I was slightly nervous about the crew having my keys and not having the ability to revoke them if I felt the need. While drop-cloths were used and my bedroom was usually shrouded in plastic, I still found mud marks on the carpet in a few places and frequently found drywall bits or grout chunks around the house. This probably could have been addressed by shaking the drop-cloths out at the end of the day (though I understand that may have been difficult with the snow and rain). There must have been a couple days where plastic wasn't used to cover my bedroom, because I would come home to find a layer of dust on everything. The most significant issue I had involved the shower control where I found the hot and cold to be reversed. I also found the sink faucet handle to be loose. I contacted VKB two days after completion (it was the weekend) and the crew was scheduled to return to address the issues a couple days later. Fixes were completed in one day. Overall, I am very happy with my first remodeling experience. I think VKB did an excellent job even considering the minor issues. My interactions with the designer and project manager were always courteous and professional. The crew were friendly and worked at a good pace and were thankfully, not too intrusive on my regular routine, except perhaps for a bit of extra vacuuming and dusting.

.This is a really a great company! We started the process at the showroom with Dale, a designer. He was very helpful and we found a tile we liked right there. He came out to the house to measure and send us a quote. The price was competitive for the work to be done and they had good reviews. They were to take up an old limestone floor and replace with new porcelain tile. The field manager, Yunus, called about a week later to say they were ready to begin. The men who did the work, Alejandro and Alfonso, were two of the best workers I have ever had. They're attention to detail was top-notch. They were extremely skilled as well as polite and punctual. It was clear that they knew exactly what they were doing! They cleaned up at the end of each day and completely cleaned up all debris when the job was finished. The job took 4 1/2 days. The work is absolutely beautiful! I could not be happier! Everything went according to schedule and very smoothly. Another of the field managers, Burak, came by today to see the finished floor and make sure we were happy. He took some photos and told us to call if we had any questions or if there was anything else we needed. Everyone we dealt with was very accommodating. Great customer service! I would certainly use them for any future projects. They were a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend them. You will not be disappointed!

It went very, very well from start to finish. We needed to remodel the guest bath in our home after discovering that the bathtub drain had corroded and we developed a ceiling leak. Leon performed the estimate and then was our contact for the contract details and choosing the materials in the showroom. I kept changing the contract details and Leon was extremely responsive and professional. I probably had the poor guy change the contract a half-dozen times during a few days as I kept remembering things to add (I originally was going to pull permits myself and then changed my mind, wanted the county inspection explicitly stated in the contract, already owned a medicine cabinet from another project I wanted to use, etc). After all was said and done we got estimates from several contractors, and VKB was the best by about $1500. We went to the showroom and knocked out the choices very quickly. This was the bathroom the kids were going to use so we let them pick out everything and were pretty unconcerned about it, but there were many, many choices should you be choosing your dream bathroom. The demolition/construction experience was a dream. Really. Let me say that I have remodeled several homes over the years, mostly doing the work myself and hiring subs when it was beyond my capabilities. There are always difficulties. Firstly it was nice to just have someone show up and take care of everything. However, I had heard so many stories about the difficulties of fully contracted projects that I was ready for anything. Not a single problem. Not a one. The work was scheduled quickly and the first day Edison and Manny (construction specialists) and Yunus (contractor) showed up on time. They dropped off all the materials and Yunus and I went over every detail of tile, materials, construction, location of fixtures etc etc again to make sure that it was correct. Edison and Manny (E and M) were a pleasure to work with. They were professional, punctual, and skilled and kept everything clean and covered. At the end of the day you wouldn't even be able to tell there was a construction project going on. Edison checked with me on everything before installation ("Towel Bar look OK here?") which was nice because there were no unpleasant surprises which can happen when you are thinking one thing and they are thinking another. I was actually traveling a couple of the days and Yunus sent me photos of the tile and tub which were installed while I was gone. The whole project was completed within 5 or 6 work days, no kidding, including two separate county inspections! And the work was BEAUTIFULLY done. Edison is a fantastic craftsman. The place is beautiful and the quality of drywall, paint, installation, tile, plumbing, electrical etc etc was beyond expectations. I would hire them again in an instant. Finally, talk about above and beyond. I mentioned the tub leak which had precipitated this whole remodel. While the tub was out, I looked at the floor (2nd floor bathroom) to see how extensive the damage was to the ceiling below. I knew I was going to have to repair the living room ceiling, just wanted to see if it was moldy. It wasn't, which was good, but had obviously been leaking for a while as the drywall was eroded. I purposely stuck my thumb through to see how bad it was, leaving a small hole in my living room ceiling. No problem to me, we needed to do some other drywall repairs and I was going to add that to the list. While I was traveling, they fixed it without saying a word to me. Patched the ceiling. So unexpected. During the final walkthrough, when Yunus was in the kitchen, he saw a hole in THAT ceiling where our master bath had leaked (yes, crappy building grade original plumbing) that we had not yet repaired. He said, "Are we responsible for that?" We assured him that he was not, but thought it was great that he asked. That epitomized the whole experience. So, yes, I would hire them again. The bathroom is absolutely beautiful and well-functioning!

Virginia Kitchen and Bath did excellent quality work for a fair price. Burak was a very responsive project manager; his team consisted of Oscar, Carlos, and Alfonso. Kemal, Burak, and Oscar took great care to execute our design with precision and care, including the changes we initiated during the project. The finished bathroom looks terrific! Oscar, the team leader, is an excellent craftsman who diligently worked long hours with his team to complete the renovation on time. The tile work included pencil moldings and chair rails; each piece was carefully cut and aligned to achieve a straight grout line. The plumbing and electrical work was very well done. The bathroom cabinets required crown moldings, which were beautifully mitered and installed, as were the mirror frames that Oscar and his team constructed. We would recommend Virginia Kitchen and Bath to anyone who is looking to renovate their bathroom.

There were a few things that got to me during the process that I learned are snafu's that occur on any job, I'm sure. But they contributed to me not giving VKB excellent ratings on all categories and overall. I'm a "hands-on" kind of guy. If you can let things like these slide off your back, and there is no telling what can happen on the job because of the innumerable thing that can go wrong, take it as if VKB is best overall.- They ran out of one of the type of tiles and they said it would take a week to get it from the distributor. I was afraid that one week was going to turn into two, etc. All work had to stop because they could not do anything until the floor got done. I looked up the tile online, called other distributors and and located it. It was available from another distributor. I complained to Kemal and he got the tile and the job resumed within two days.- The plumber said there were issues with the gas pipe outside so he could not move the inside pipe to the gas stove. I had to call the gas company and go round and round with them. The issue took at least a week to settle. I found out later that contact with the gas company was the plumber's responsibility and I didn't need to get involved. The tile guy threw out his waste on my front lawn one night. Ticked me off. I complained to Kemal and he was ready to send a guy over to clean it up immediately. Claudio was very honest with me and they took the blame and apologized. No further incidents occurred and I was happy that they were up front with me. After the job was done, I didn't like the floor. It now looked dull and my heart sank because now I thought about how I should have listened to my wife and installed a wood floor. Kemal had no solutions and just walked away from it. I hear it happens a lot that people make their selections then don't like how it looks. My friend suggested I clean and seal the tile. I used sealer and put about five coats on it. It raised a shine and made the floor look really nice. Then I wondered why VKB didn't make that suggestion. I thought that they were afraid I would pressure them into sealing the entire floor. They only wanted to seal the grouting.- After we installed the under cabinet lights and turned them on, we noticed that you could see the lights under the cabinets from certain angles and from the adjacent family room. That was an easy fix. They called them light railings. They are actually under cabinet moldings. They were nearly $300 dollars for the set and VKB's charge for the install was expensive. I had another guy install them for much less (a friend, admittedly - remember mods?). But VKB worked with me on getting the moldings and didn't give me a hassle about why I should use them. They didn't threaten any warranty stuff or anything like that.I waited to make my final comments because I wanted to see how the service was after completion of the job since there were manufacturer's defects on cabinet doors. At the final walk through, Kemal was reluctant to label most of them defects and said he would have to pay for them. In the end he agreed he would replace them. Then his installer found a defect with a replacement door and I found yet another defect. They were all replaced with defect free doors. One of the replacement doors had an upgraded door closing system and I was pleased with it. But this process took a very long time. It took between April and November before we got matters all settled. Perhaps I should have held back a part of my final payment until the issue was resolved. Another contractor didn't even return my calls after final payment. VKB offers a two year guarantee so we'll see what happens if something goes wrong. There you have it. Angie's list wanted all the details.
Description of Work: Our first remodel was the master bath which was done by a friend. It turned out beautiful but had a few bumps and turned out more expensive than anticipated. I thought I learned a lot from that experience and felt I could improve on prior experiences using a regular contractor, and, obviously, cost was a major factor. My most recent project was self directed using multiple sub-contractors and various workers/laborers, so I have a lot to compare with. I had very high expectations for this job. That is, I expected perfection. No such thing anywhere...Overall, I'm pleased with VKB (Virginia Kitchen and Bath) and would recommend them. They would have had higher ratings but for some things that affected me although, admittedly, some of these issues may not make a difference to others. Here is pretty much a complete overview from my perspective:- VKB started and completed the job on time (although sometimes with a little push from me). But in comparison with other people, jobs and companies, this job was done within a month and that is really good for for a major kitchen remodel that included the flooring from the entryway to the kitchen and redoing the powder room. - VKB was very competitive and reasonable compared to other top rated (angie's List) contractors; to the tune of about $15,000. That was very good for me. The only exception was when there was a modification to the contract. They charged $590 to install a vent to the microwave connecting to the outside (simple direct install that some of my friends said should cost no more than $200). Except for my contractor friend, I found out that all contractors get to charge "their" prices for modifications. If that happens, you casn do the modification yourself or get someone else to do it. But you have to realize that no contractor will take responsibility if anything goes wrong. - Absolutely everyone who has seen our kitchen remarks on how beautiful it looks. And it is. Not all of that credit goes to VKB because of our selections and ideas, I have to say. However, all the credit goes to them for their workmanship and suggestions. I have had several contractors in my home who commented on how good their workmanship was and the products they offer. -The salesman/designer knew what he was talking about and what he was doing. He spent a lot of time with us and gave us some really good and useful ideas on the cabinets, layouts, etc. He worked well with us in the selection of the products such as cabinets and tile. My wife and I had differences of opinion which he was very adept at finding solutions and compromises. He also worked with us on the design of the the floor tile. I had some ideas and he made sure we laid it out so the installers did it right. He really was very easy to work with. My only reservation was at the end of the job when he took part in the walk through and downplayed some issues I had. The ones with the cabinets come to mind and he was almost mocking.. There were some manufacturers defects that needed to be taken care of. - The VKB workers and staff were really great to work with. Kemal, the owner, was very responsive and very professional. Always calm in demeanor and understanding, and always resolved any issue that came to his attention. Hakan, the job superintendent was lively and energetic. He was mostly very responsive but sometimes took him a day or so to get back to us; but he made sure to give someone else the message and get back to me. He always resolved issues and made you feel he was on your side. He authorized several little things that other companies might have charged extra for. He also worked with the crew on any of my issues and gave me what I wanted. Mehmet, the electrician was one of the humblest people I've ever met. It was apparent to me that he lived a spiritual life and was never disturbed. Always asked what I wanted and consulted with me on the layout of all lighting and switches; how I wanted things to work, where I wanted the recessed lighting, their design, etc. Claudio and Edwin were great. Edwin did all the tile work (floor, backsplash and some special designs) fo which I got a lot of compliments, even from others in the business; and Claudio did everything else. He was really an excellent cabinet installer, laying the under-floor, dry wall, mudding/skimming and everything else. He was very proficient and very skillful at everything he did. He did use some other laborers for menial tasks such as some of the painting and sanding. Nagi was the granite guy and I could not be more pleased with him. The granite we originally selected at the store was unavailable because the Quarry was closed for several years (I don't know why VKB did not know this). Nagi helped us with selecting another pattern that worked out better in the end. Then it struck me that by the time you get to select the granite, you can select anyone you want as long as it is the same grade (cost); the initial selection is not necessarily going to work because of the sample sizes. They give you a good idea, but by the time you get that far in the game and your cabinets and floors are installed, you may change your mind when you see full slabs of what you initially selected. VKB's office staff was very courteous and responsive. - After installing the granite we found that the back-splash tile did not work any longer. The tile was Italian. We went back to the store and selected another Italian tile and changed the design. They got the replacement tile right away and worked with me on the installing the new design. It came out terrific. Other contractors that came into the house wanted to know where to get that tile and commented on how great it looked.- VKB uses Wolf cabinets which are a less expensive brand than other premium cabinets. They had a good selection. We compared our cabinets to my brother-in-law's who bought expensive ones. His cabinets cost nearly as much as our entire job. Even though his kitchen was larger, ours looks just as good as his and I'm pleased with their functionality and durability so far.

My husband and I contracted with Virginia Kitchen and Bath to do our kitchen remodel. We found them after we had selected another vendor and had that engagement fell apart because they would not offer us a contract indicating the work that would be done. I was not comfortable with a vendor that was not going to offer a contract for a job that large, so I had to start my search process from scratch. VK+B was one of the first vendors I contacted during my second sourcing process, and once I had my first visit with Dale everything fell into place. I found Dale to be trustworthy and knowledgeable. He spent time understanding how I use my kitchen, walking through some of my frequent tasks, so that he could make suggestions about what I needed and how to best lay it out. My kitchen is small, so there were not a ton of options, but the design that I have really maximizes my space and my budget. For the quality of work that they did, I think they were priced very competitively. We received quotes from others with almost identical recommendations (although the product lines were not the same), and this quote offered the best value (price+quality). We received one lower price from the non-contract vendor, but I think that really indicates that they were going to do sub-par work when all is said and done. The team that worked on my project was excellent. Andy, the GC, was here on time every day, and is a conscientious and careful person that takes pride in his work. His two-man crew was also very good, and they put a lot of care and detail into ensuring our installation went smoothly. I received an initial estimate that the job would take three weeks, but they were done in two. All of my friends warned me that there would be overruns in time and cost based on their own experiences with remodeling, but I am ecstatic to say we had neither of those. The job was completed as priced and was even faster than we anticipated. The only thing that went less than smoothly was some confusion around the granite fabricator. They suggested a location to me, and then called me back and suggested another fabricator closer to my home, which was perfect. I was thrilled. However, when I got to the fabricator they were not expecting me and did not know anything about my project. They still handled me with care and consideration, however, but I was initially a little concerned. It all worked out well, though. They also came to do measurements when I was not expecting them but fortunately I was home. Outside of these small hiccups with the countertops, however, everything was perfect. The selection that they have at the showroom is not exhaustive, but it offered a lot of options. When working with the first vendor we considered, it took us forever to try to find the components for our kitchen...they just did not seem to have what we wanted for all options. When we went through the selection process at VK+B, what had taken a month at the first vendor took about 90 minutes with them. With Dale's help, we put together a combination for the cabinets, counters, and floors that we really loved. I would highly recommend this vendor. They are easy to work with, honest, and did a great job. We love our new kitchen and it was worth every penny. We have been living in our new kitchen for almost two months and we love it more every day.

From estimate to execution, the Virginia kitchen and bath team did an extraordinary job. Without hesitation, I would use their services again and recommend to anyone. Leon (the design consultant) was prompt, knowledgeable, courteous and experienced in his craft. Barak (the supervisor /construction manager) was incredibly responsive and attentive to every aspect of the job, always available by cell phone and addressed every issue or question I had. he was on site nearly every day and kept current with all aspects. Very trustworthy and sensitive to customer needs, as well as obviously knowledgeable about the business, as well as design elements. Anabel and his assistant did an expert job in all aspects of the renovation and re-tiling. Highest quality work and incredible work ethic. Much of the work was undertaken while I was out of the city, and I had not a single concern. Virginia kitchen and bath does outstanding work, at a very reasonable price. I would recommend their services to anyone.

What a professional job! From first call to final install, this was a great decision on our part. We had leaking from our old shower, and had to take up the old tiles anyway to repair it. So we decided to redo the whole area: tiny1980's shower/bathroom, huge area which was not useful for anything, and two closets that butted up against each other and had little usable space. We called Virginia Kitchen and Bath after I saw their truck and realized that a) they were on Angie's list and b) they were right in our neighborhood. I checked the reviews, and we decided to go ahead. They were super-responsive right from the start. The designer came out and said, ' let's do something dramatic!' and then gave us a design that was amazing. The selection of tiles, counter-top material, cabinets and fixtures was great, and they were able to start on our schedule. The primary workman was a true craftsman; he was meticulous about every detail, and did every step right the first time. I was consulted about everything before it happened, to be sure I was going to be happy about it, right down to the best way to relocate the heat vent and where I wanted to put the light switches. After they got started, we realized that we couldn't put the closet door where we'd planned; the next day the foreman and his team was there to hash out the possibilities and come up with a great alternate plan. The whole job took about a month, and there was never a mess left for me to clean up. They put up plastic to protect the adjacent areas and to protect the carpets, and swept/vacuumed every day. The results are beautiful. We have more than twice as much closet space as before, the shower is beautiful and spacious, the separate sinks and cabinets give us plenty of counter space and drawers to store things, and the tiling is lovely. Beautiful, stunning, amazing, fabulous --- I don't have the right adjectives. We are so glad we decided to do this, and even more glad that we chose Virginia Kitchen and Bath for the job. They are all extremely courteous, friendly and professional, and we will definitely call them again for our next remodeling job.
Description of Work: Replaced tiny master bathroom, inadequate closets, and wasted dressing room area with a stunning new double-sink bathroom, gorgeous cabinets, sparkling shower and beautiful tiling, separate water closet, and more than double the closet capacity.

Overall, my wife and I are very pleased with the results. Especially considering the price, which was $5,000 to $8,000 cheaper than the other estimates we received. Value for the money is exceptional. There were a few minor issues we noticed during construction, and with one exception they were addressed quickly and cheerfully. We noticed a couple of minor things after they were done, and they came back and fixed them within a couple of days. (Note that I'm not being critical that there were minor issues. There always will be with this kind of project. The test is how readily and quickly they're resolved.) They ran into an issue with the location of the bathtub drain and floor joists, and had to do extra work fitting the tub, which I'm sure cost them extra time and effort, but they didn't ask for more money to compensate. There were a couple of things, however, that we were not totally please with. The basic cabinets we selected were disappointing. Of the 8 total drawers, 4 were misaligned, either not lining up with the drawers above or below or not closing flat. And the edges of the toe kick, which are visible from the side of the vanity, were unfinished. We've bought cabinets and vanities before (remodeled two kitchens), and never saw a cabinet with visible surfaces unfinished before. These were colored with a touch up stick, but the colors don't really match. All visible surfaces should be finished from the factory. And both cabinets arrived with damage, with a corner scraped. One was very minor, and touched up to our satisfaction with a wax touchup stick. The scrape on the other was larger, with some wood clearly scraped away. It was pretty clear that they weren't interested in replacing the cabinet, so I let them do the same touch up. It's not terrible, but my wife and I can both tell the difference. Probably no one else would notice. Our other issue is that they asked if they could use our garage to store tools and supplies. Of course I said yes. What I didn't understand was that they would also use our garage as a workshop, cutting cement and wall board and wood, and covering everything in the garage in construction dust. The important thing, though, is that the end result looks and works great, and the value is exceptional.
Description of Work: They did a full remodel of master bath and powder room, including demolition (and removal of wall in master bath), and installation of tile, bathtub, vanities, toilets, countertops, sinks, faucets, etc.

Overall I am satisfied with the quality of the work. There were some hiccups in between, and it is more of the issues related to the customer service, but overall we were satisfied. I had to micro manage. There was a misrepresentation in terms of what kind of cabinetry they would provide. We felt like we had been duped. They look pretty nice, and luxurious, but they are made in China. They didn't finish the painting inside, we had to tell them. We had to replace some of the doors because they came damaged. They met our requirements, but it took a bit of objection. It was as if I was selling their cabinet not them. The owner came and took care of everything, which I was satisfied with. He said he was giving me a discount, but he didn't. They didn't complete the job on time, and I was upset about it. We started the job in January and they finished in April. I wouldn't recommend them. The pricing was a little bit expensive. The only reason I went with them was that they had a good sales man, and I had to knock off a few walls, and unfortunately Lowe's didn't do that, these guys came in and said everything was okay, so I went with them. I didn't know I was paying a premium for the material. They quality would have been very bad if I hadn't micro managed.

Dear (member name removed), Our clients' reviews are very important for us in order to assist/serve better. I appreciate your review but, we'd like to also share our experience with you and leave the judgment to our dear Angie's List members. Firstly, I'd like to state that your initial review indicated our contracted price was $65,000.00 and we are an overpriced company. We've then contacted Angie's List and proved our actual contracted deal was $35,000.00 by providing the representative with our signed contract. Thank you for correcting your price indication after our complaint. Secondly, you've indicated that we've not provided you with any discounts but we've also sent the representative our discounted invoices to prove you've received them. Thirdly, I'd like to also make a correction on your job completion date. I'd like to remind you that we've completed our job on time and received our final payment from you with your satisfaction indicated. The next day you've asked us not to deposit your payment because of some damage on couple of cabinet doors. I've followed your request and did not deposit your check and have made a stop at your property the same day to get started on door replacements. Unfortunately, cabinet orders take some time to order, process, and deliver. We're confident that we've not delayed your cabinet replacements and have put you ahead of our schedule to finish in short amount of time. Also, to be exact, we've started your job on February 19th instead of January, as you've stated wrongly again. Finally, after 9 months of job completion and final payments being made, we're sorry to have received such disappointing review from you. we believe to have completed the job with your verbally indicated satisfaction overall. Based on your review we will strive on improving our service for future until proven best. Regards Virginia Kitchen and Bath Team

From the time of signing the contract to completion, the entire job took a month. It was about a week before work began. The smaller hallway bath took a week and the larger master bath about 10-12 days, plus a two-day delay for Thanksgiving. The total cost was in the middle of the bids we took, not the cheapest, but about 25% less than the highest bid. There were no unexpected costs -- what was signed for is what we paid. The two-man crew of Edison and Shapeen were very punctual and professional, taking care to cleanup each day. We used other bathrooms while the work was in progress, but there was minimal disruption. One major impact, however, was sending our cat to a "pet hotel" for three weeks to keep her out of the way or from running off. We chose fixtures, doors, and handles with Dale, the owner, and Barack, the job supervisor. We supplied our own paint -- which seemed reasonable as getting just the right color match with the tile can be tricky. Communication during the job was via e-mail and site visits by Barack. There were no major problems or delays. There was some very minor damage spots to the ceilings below the baths as a result of tearing out the old tile work and tubs. The crew repaired and repainted the spots as part of the clean up. Overall, a very professional, prompt, and relatively loss stress experience.
Description of Work: Tore out and remodeled two bathrooms. An upper floor hallway bath that was a simple replacement of everything and a main bedroom master bath in which the old shower areas was turned into a closet and the tub/shower combination was turned into a larger tiled shower with glass doors.

Excellent service! Always on time! Always clean! Always responsive to questions/issues! Never felt like we were being taken advantage of. When products we selected were no longer available, our project manager, Johan, would personally take me to select even better items at no additional charge. He even took the samples I selected and brought home to Alexandria back to Chantilly. We would definitely use this company again and we learned a lot about our home that we would never have seen behind the scenes. Also, Oscar, Alejandro, and Carlos were the best! I'm a project manager myself - which they NEVER knew - so I am not exaggerating!

I can't say enough good things about Virginia Kitchen and Bath. From my first contact with their company to the final confirmation of work being done, I had a very positive experience with all of their employees. I had already spoken to almost a dozen other companies to get estimates for my remodel and from the minute I interacted with Dale, the vibe was different. He gave me a sense that the company genuinely wanted my business, even though I live in a condo and that is considered "undesirable" for many contractors. Dale was prompt, responsive, direct in his recommendations, and incredibly fast in turning around an estimate, sending me his bid in a fraction of the time of other companies and which I took to mean he really wanted my business. When I visited the VKB showroom, Dale stayed into the late evening hours to work with me on selecting materials for my remodel and he, as well as all the VKB employees, made a HUGE (and much appreciated) efforts to work around my often-changing work schedule both to select my materials and make decisions at each stage of the remodel. The VKB work was on time, very clean, and completed with as little interruption to my regular life as can be expected. Yunus was a great project manager and Alejandro led the workers in my home each day, doing a great job of answering my questions and responding to my requests for help with paint colors/tests that woudl make sure all of the project went smoothly and on schedule. There were a couple of small hiccups in the construction and once I alerted Yunus and Dale to those problems, they did their best to get my concerns addressed quickly. In addition, when I questioned whether the correct materials had been used (there was confusion with one bathroom shower head) both Dale and Yunus responded to my questions right away, which I greatly appreciated and they found the item I had ordered in short order. All in all, I am VERY happy with my new bathrooms and think that Virginia Kitchen and Bath is a great company. They know their business and will listen to your needs. I look forward to working with them again for any further remodel needs in my home.

The project began on schedule and the process of selecting the materials went very smoothly. VKB were very helpful in guiding us through the entire decision-making process. We had a wonderful crew assigned to us, which was led by Andy, and all were extremely professional, friendly and cooperative. Depending upon the type of work needing to be done, the appropriate crew member(s) arrived on time, and would leave at the end of the day only after everything had been swept and organized both inside and outside of the home. Extreme attention to detail was paid, ensuring quality work in every facet of the project. Overall, the quality of the products were very good; the process of demolition, reconstruction, and the installation and completion of the project made it a pleasure to work with this group. We would highly recommend VKB to anyone looking to have this kind of work accomplished.
Description of Work: Kitchen and Laundry/Mud Room Remodel plus removal of three existing doors and subsequent reframing. The kitchen was totally gutted ... soffitts, flooring, cabinets, countertops. This company is the "greatest marketing tool for Angie's list! I am a senior citizen who spent 40 years building 8a (minority based) companies in the Wash. DC arena. My successes are numerous and I retired as CBDO for the last company. I abhor online sales because I am not into the latest technologies, however, I will always go to Angie's list in the future for references.I am amazed at the competence, professionalism, and candor of the employees at Va. After interviewing 6 contractors, I chose Virginia Kitchen and Bath (VKB). Their price was reasonable; they were very responsive and highly professional. After speaking with them, I felt confident that they would come in on budget, on time and do exceptional work, which proved to be the case. The kitchen that was renovated was small and not very functional. A wall was opened into the dining room and the kitchen layout totally reconfigured, including removal of a soffit. Due to the size of the kitchen all measurements had to be precise and there was no room for error. Needless to say, everything fit into place perfectly! As with all such renovations, something unexpected always pops up. In my case it was a corner pipe in the kitchen, from ceiling to floor, that could not be moved. VKB came up with a solution that did not require a change in the design layout and without incurring additional cost. It looks beautiful! The bathroom renovation involved total removal of the vanity, counter top, shower and tiles throughout. The shower was properly prepared before installation of the tiles to ensure that it would not leak. The crew did a beautiful job of following the design layout for the tiles and laying them properly. I now have a lovely master bathroom. Throughout the project, the crew paid close attention to all details and were very responsive to any concerns that I raised. The same crew was maintained throughout the project. They were meticulous about cleaning up at the end of each day, which I greatly appreciated since I was living in the house during the renovation. The follow up by VKB from beginning to end of the project was excellent. All in all, the renovation far exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend Virginia Kitchen and Bath. Beautiful work! It was a pleasure working with you.

Kemal was our project coordinator and Dale also kept in touch with us during the renovation process. The crew always arrived early each day and worked a full day, often without breaks, and they were very professional and courteous. At the end of each day all debris was collected and hauled away and the working area swept and cleaned. Any time we had questions or needed to discuss anything we always received immediate responses and there were daily supervisory visits from Kemal or Yunus from VK&B to check on the progress of the project and to be sure we were happy with the new look. We were most appreciative of VK&B's attention to detail and their frequent communications and follow-ups with us throughout the renovation. The tile, electrical work, and plumbing by Nelson and his team was wonderful and looks great!!! When any work was completed that required inspection by the county the inspector was on-site the next day so we never had any downtime. We highly recommend the services provided by VK&B and we would select them again for future project in our home.
Description of Work: Virginia Kitchen & Bath did a complete renovation of our 37-yr old master bathroom. Dale McQuillen was our designer and once we identified the color and style of ceramic tile to be installed for the floor and shower he helped us coordinate the layout and made suggestions and recommendations that were very helpful. We knew the color of the granite we wanted for the vanity top and had the opportunity to see and choose the slab of granite at the fabricator's facility. VK&B tore out and removed the existing single-sink vanity, old lighting fixtures, cast iron bath tub, and linen closet. They removed the existing wallpaper, patched and prepared walls for painting, and re-worked the plumbing and drain location to accommodate the installation of a new walk-in shower. Dale designed a sitting bench to be built inside the shower and to enhance the look of the ceramic tile and granite we wanted brass fixtures and accessories such as the shower head, handheld wand, safety support, as well as the faucets for the new dual-sink vanity - perfect!!! Recessed lighting was installed in the ceiling, a vapor light inside the shower, and a triple fixture wall sconce was centered between two mirrors. Tile matching the granite top for the vanity was installed in the new shower and we have new baseboards and crown molding. The new linen closet was designed and installed with self-closing pullout drawers and extra space for storage.

Crew arrived early on first day. Met the crew and reviewed the plans with them. They had a lock box on the front door so we were able to leave for work on time. After he first day ,they had completely removed all cabinets and appliances and started removing the linoleum layers on the floor. Quickly, we could see the kitchen taking shape. the tiled floor and the first set of cabinets were done in the first few days. The crew was very thorough about cleaning up each day We were both really happy with the work, the professionalism and the service. Any time I called with a question, Yunus would return my call promptly. I would like to commend everyone one we dealt with at VKB- Kamal, Yunus, Nelson, Ricardo and Leon.

Virginia Kitchen and Bath provided an outstanding value. From helping design our extensive renovation project to ensuring all the finishing details were perfect they could not have done better! We cannot say enough about our project manager, Johan Saygi, and our terrific work foreman, Anibal. They were responsive to our every need, and immediately took corrective action in the few instances it was necessary (we will ask for them again!). Anibal and his hard working team were always punctual, courteous, highly professional and went out of their way to clean up 100% of any work material at the end of each day. And their workmanship was superb! The bottom-line is that we will use Virginia Kitchen & Bath (Herndon) in the future. Great work -- done on schedule -- at a fair price.

My wife and I are very pleased with our new kitchen, powder room and hardwood floors. We were novices at remodeling and knew only that we wanted new cabinets, granite counter tops and hardwood floors. Dale was very patient in explaining the process and our options, and in working with us to finalize his proposed design and our selection of styles and colors. While reputation and a reasonable price played a big part in our selection of Virginia Kitchen & Bath, Dale?s responsiveness, patience and just being a pleasure to work with won our vote. We did not feel pressured to select Virginia Kitchen & Bath as our contractor or to hurry our decisions regarding styles and colors. Throughout the project, Dale, Kamal, Johan and the work crews of Andy and Rosalio were very professional in their work and very responsive when we had concerns or when issues arose. When an old water leak was discovered beneath the subfloor at the corner of the family room and kitchen, Dale assisted us in finding a contractor to repair the leak and damage to the wood beneath the floor. Andy and Rosalio were very flexible in rescheduling their work while the leak repairs were accomplished. Both crews went above and beyond in addressing problems that were not necessarily part of their original jobs. Andy in particular was very helpful in a variety of related and unrelated matters. We feel that we received very good value for our money and would use Virginia Kitchen & Bath again if we have kitchen or bath remodeling needs in the future.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of kitchen and main floor powder room, and replacement of flooring with hardwood in foyer, kitchen, powder room and family room, Kitchen work included redesign of cabinet layout and replacement of cabinets, installation of granite counter tops, installation of backsplash and under cabinet lighting, installation of new sink and garbage disposal, as well as installation of new refrigerator, range, microwave and dishwasher, which we provided. The powder room received a new cabinet, sink and granite counter top. As previously mentioned, solid oak hardwood floors were installed in the foyer, powder room, kitchen and family room.

We could not be happier!! We are thrilled with our beautiful new kitchen, powder room and flooring!! And we are just as thrilled with the absolute top-notch service we received from everyone at Virginia Kitchen and Bath. Dale was our designer and worked meticulously to ensure that everything we wanted was included in the proposal up front and that we stayed within our budget. For example, when I wanted a glass backsplash that would have put us over budget, he recommended instead a beautiful stone (that coordinated perfectly with the cabinets, granite and flooring we had selected) along with a 3? row of glass tiles running through the center of the backsplash that looks fabulous! I still got some glass and it was affordable and looks beautiful! Something else that Dale did that was invaluable was to let us know up front of potential ?extra? or ?hidden? costs that could creep up and cause unexpected and potentially expensive additions midway through projects (such as potentially needing a new fuse box because of the additional electrical we were adding and the cost of permits). While it?s never fun to hear these things, having this information up front helped us to more accurately plan the cost of our renovation. (No one else that submitted a proposal provided this level of service.) As a result, the only unexpected expense that we incurred during the project was $200 for support braces for the granite. While their price was not the lowest, it was competitive; but we selected Virginia Kitchen and Bath because they gave us the best comfort level that our project would be completed professionally, to our specification, on time and on budget. It was. When we signed the contract we set the project schedule. The work started on schedule on August 4 & 5, 2014 with the demolition (kitchen, bath, walls, doors, flooring ? everything) and then took a scheduled 3 day hiatus while we had other companies in to redo our attic insulation and sealing, whole-house window and door replacement and wallpaper removal and priming on the main level. The Virginia Kitchen and Bath flooring crew returned on Saturday to begin preparing the subflooring for the underlayment. Everything continued on schedule, with someone at our home every day working on the project and there were visible results every day. The project was originally scheduled to be completed in four weeks on Friday, August 29, and only ran over two days into the following week to accommodate an appliance delivery delay and working around the painting crew we hired to paint our main level. As with any project of this size, there were minor things that needed adjusting, so we made a list and they returned on Friday, September 19 to make all of the adjustments. We were not asked to submit our final payment until after this was completed. Additional details: Our project manager was Johan. He was personable and made sure that any of my questions or concerns were resolved quickly. He managed the timing of the different crews so that the right crew was there on the right day. There was never a weekday where there was no one working on our renovation. Our kitchen crew chief was Andy. Andy did a phenomenal job in every aspect. He scheduled his various team members to be at our house each day based on their area of expertise (cabinetry, electrical, drywall, etc.) and what needed to be done on any given day. I know he manages more than one project simultaneously and he did so in a way that I always felt that my project was given full attention for what it needed each day to keep it moving forward. Andy and his team have a meticulous attention to detail and made sure that everything from counters to cabinets to backsplash were lined up perfectly evenly. In fact, the granite fabricators told us that the cabinets were so precisely installed that they did not have to make a single adjustment when installing the granite and that they had never before encountered a situation where they didn?t have to make at least one or two minor adjustments. Andy?s team was flexible and able to work around appliance/fixture misdeliveries while still keeping the overall project on schedule. Our flooring crew chief was Rosalio. Rosalio has a fantastic work ethic and attention to customer service. He was very protective of the flooring materials and exacting in the specifications to ensure that the under layment and tile were laid correctly. The precision of the workmanship is amazing. The lines of the tile are perfectly straight and the floor flows seamlessly throughout all rooms of the main level. All finishing were done perfectly and we love the new 4 ΒΌ inch baseboards they installed as well as the custom curved step at the bottom of our staircase. Rosalio and his crew worked several Saturdays and even one Sunday when he was concerned about ensuring the project would stay on schedule. We selected Virginia Kitchen and Bath because of the time, attention and expertise that Dale provided up front. We highly recommend Virginia Kitchen and Bath because of the high level of professionalism and expertise that Andy and Rosalio and their teams provided. We felt important and well looked after throughout the entire project. We thank everyone at Virginia Kitchen and Bath for a wonderful experience and will definitely use them again in the future!
Description of Work: Virginia Kitchen and Bath completely remodeled our kitchen, removing one wall to extend the kitchen into the dining room and built a peninsula. They removed a portion of another wall to open the bottom of our staircase and hallway into the kitchen and removed two sets of doors into our family room from the kitchen and foyer to create a more open flow throughout the level. They also renovated our main level powder room and replaced all of the flooring on our main level. This involved a complete gut of the kitchen and powder room and updating electrical and plumbing where needed.

We interviewed and obtained quotes from 2 other contractors in addition to VKB. These included contractors our neighbors had used. Ultimately we felt that VKB offered the best value for the money and their high ratings on Angie?s List as well as the BBB were contributing factors in our selection process. Once selected, VKB was easy to work with starting with the design/material selections with Dale and then moving on to measurements and project planning/management with Kemal and Yunus. VKB was very accommodating in scheduling the work after our daughter?s wedding and, once we gave the go-ahead; they had the materials in hand and were ready to start within 2 weeks, as promised. We agreed on a start date and the work then began with demolition in the kitchen and bath. In the first day of work alone, Andy and his team had almost the entire kitchen cleared out and the plumbing had been re-stubbed and capped so the house water could be turned back on. At the same time, Anibal and his helper had cleared out the old fixtures, shower, etc. in the master bathroom. Both teams worked to coordinate their work with each other and things went very smoothly. Rosario and his flooring team arrived the next day and removed the old ceramic tile and its subfloor on the first floor. This is a noisy process, but it went well. At the end of each day, cleanup was performed and trash was generally hauled away either the same day or next day. Throughout the work, Yunus kept us informed as to the work plan and was quick to work out any minor issues that inevitably come up in these kinds of projects. Yunus stopped by almost every day to see how the work was progressing and address any things that may have come up. Really, the only issues we had were with the granite back splash height initially not matching at one of the seams and some damage to one section of flooring and the baseboards. These were corrected and things look good now. All told, the work took 15 working days (3 calendar weeks) which was pretty much right in line with the original estimated time. It should also be noted that VKB was ready when they said they would be for the county plumbing and electrical inspections. Overall, we?re very happy with how things came out and we plan on using VKB again soon to install some matching cabinets in our pantry.
Description of Work: We had our kitchen updated/renovated including new cabinets (including under-cabinet lights), granite counters, tile back splash, sink, faucet, and conversion of the light over the sink to a recessed fixture. The kitchen work included installation of all new appliances (refrigerator, range, dishwasher, microwave, and garbage disposal) we had purchased. We also had the first floor ceramic tile in the kitchen/hallway/foyer and carpet in the living, dining, and family rooms removed and replaced with solid oak flooring with new baseboards/molding. Our master bath was updated as well. This included removal of the old fiberglass shower stall, wall-mount sink, toilet, and ceramic tile flooring. The partial renovation included new ceramic tile flooring, all tile shower stall, new shower plumbing fixtures as well as installation of a vanity, sink, faucet, medicine cabinet, toilet, and light fixture we provided.

Dale did a fantastic job on our kitchen. He spent hours working on our design and making sure all of our requests were met. The price was in the middle of our quotes and we thought was fair for the amount of work being done. Contractor Andy and crew was always on time and wonderful to work with. Anything that came up he was able to accommodate. The flooring guys were fantastic too - they even worked all weekend just to get the job done. The new hardwoods look fantastic. We will be remodeling the master bathroom soon and wouldn't hesitate tocall them.
Description of Work: Total kitchen reno and replaced entire main floor with hardwoods
