I highly recommend Virginia Kitchen and Bath. I needed to remodel my outdated bathrooms and kitchens. Leon, the designer, came to the condo, was very professional. The bid was competitive (but still high). Remodeling is not as inexpensive as with those DIY shows on TV! The showroom is small with many choices, but it is not overwhelming. It's great for someone who is a busy professional who lacks designer skills. :) It took less than one hour to pick out all the materials and sign the contract. Burak was my project manager and was always respectful and responded to me quickly via email or phone. Edison, the gentleman who did the majority of the work, and his assistants were great and did wonderful work. The job was a total tear down, so it was quite extensive. The quality of the materials is top notch! Just be prepared to live in complete disarray for a few weeks. I would definitely hire Virginia Kitchen and Bath again!

My husband and I live in a 1960’s split foyer. It had a small kitchen and dining room and we wanted to enlarge it. After many months of research we got estimates from several remodeling companies before deciding to get one more. It was our best decision. We went to Virginia Kitchen and Bath (VKB) showroom and met with Kemal Boyraz (owner). Kemal was extremely pleasant and sat down with us while we explained our ideas and gave him a very amateur drawing of what we wanted. He came out to the house, did an on-site survey and within a week provided us with a colored CAD drawing and our ideas were really visualized. VKB then provided us with a detailed project plan and the scope of work included eliminating a wall, adding a new entrance to the kitchen, moving gas lines, water lines and electrical lines, new cabinets, drywall work, quartz countertops, mosaic backsplash, recessed lighting, and under-cabinet lighting. Kemal took every inch of space and utilized it giving us exactly what we wanted. In addition, VKB was the only company we interviewed that did not charge additional or make us get our own construction permits; they took care of everything, We signed a proposal on 10/31/15 but could not begin construction until January 4, 2016. We were very pleased with the proposal estimate (actually lower than any other remodeling company we interviewed) and at the time of contract signing we gave VKB our first installment and did not make another payment till work began. Before the work began Kemal came back to the house, re-measured and introduced us to the Project Manager, Martese Thomas. On Jan 4th, as promised, a VKB construction crew (Edison and Edgar) showed up as promised, explained what they were going to do, prepped by putting up plastic barriers to eliminate construction dust, drop cloths, etc. By the end of the day our kitchen was gutted. Every phase of our project was done professionally. Edison ensured installation was done down to every detail and explained to us any revisions/changes. Martese came to the house daily and if we had questions or concerns he addressed them and Kemal was more than happy to accommodate our needs. There was minimal inconvenience and the crew even worked on weekends to stay within the 4 week schedule. We did have one issue, however. Because our house was built in the 60’s, the kitchen floor had shifted and was not level. We installed Cortex luxury vinyl planking and, unfortunately the floor was not leveled correctly before the vinyl was installed. We know Edison was excellent at most of the construction needs, however, since this product was relatively new and not installed correctly we began seeing gaps in the wood. Being the professionals they are, Kemal came out one evening with a flooring expert and they ultimately took care of the issue. It did take longer to complete than we wanted but it was mostly due to delay in product. Kemal Boyraz and Virginia Kitchen & Bath have honored their contract with us and have gone over and above to ensure we were/are happy. There were a few items that I was not completely happy with and they have fixed every thing to our liking. We could not be happier with our new kitchen and would/have recommend them to anyone looking for an honest, reputable, company with the customer’s best interest at hand. Thank you Kemal for everything you and your staff did for us. It was a pleasure.

Wonderful! This is by far the best contractor I have ever used. Andy, the foreman was wonderful to work with and always kept me informed of what was going on at my house. They ran into some unforeseen issues, were able to fix them and still stay on schedule. Entire project took 4 weeks. I couldn't be happier!

Description of Work: Bathroom remodel--Retract 6/8/2016 review. I withdraw this review because the designer contacted me and we discussed the miscommunication and agreed to meet again. They have really worked with us to remodel our bathroom and we have contracted with them to do it. I am confident that we will have a successful remodel and know they will work with us through it.

I recently contracted Virginia Kitchen and Bath to remodel my 1985-vintage master bathroom. During my first visit, Dale used his modern computer technology to transform my rough measurements and amateur renovation ideas into a visual depiction of what my project could actually be. Following his on-site survey of my bathroom and much of his help in selecting materials, we soon arrived at a detailed work plan and cost for the entire job. Immediately upon receipt of ordered materials, Anibal arrived with his team and began working his magic. I was pleased with his attention to avoiding the spread of construction dust and dirt through other parts of my house, by starting each day with covering all transit paths with drop cloths and isolating the work area with a plastic barrier - all of which disappeared at the end of each day. The materials were all exactly as desired and the extensive remodeling and installation activities were executed efficiently and professionally. Anibal and his team completed the entire effort within the projected schedule and costs, and I couldn't be more pleased with the end results. I am already planning my next project and will soon be visiting Dale to put his design expertise to work for me again.

This is the first time my husband and I have contracted remodeling work for our home, we have always done the work ourselves. The overall experience could not have been better. Every phase of the job was completed professionally, to perfection. When any concerns arose, the crew contacted us quickly for clarification. We did not have any Unforeseen "surprises" which was a huge relief after hearing many horror stories of remodeling jobs gone bad. Work slightly longer than they estimated but the finished kitchen was so well worth it. The only complaint I had was they did not inform us that they would not be working at the house on three different days. This was an issue because We both work and our pets had to be locked in a room upstairs when the workers were present so that they couldnt accidentally get out. I did not like having them locked up if they did not need to be.
Description of Work: A complete kitchen remodel was done. Work included installation of porcelain floor tile, plumbing, electrical for new recessed lighting and outlets, new cabinets, quartz countertops, tile backsplash, drywall work, and painting.

After getting estimates from several companies, I reached out to Va Kitchen & Bath. Dale came to my home and spent time with me doing a walk through of my space and consulting on design options. I then met with Dale at the store and selected my materials. He was very knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. The project started on time as promised. Burak, my project manager, and Alejandro, the lead onsite construction employee, were professional, highly skilled, and very patient. This was my first experience with a major remodel and I am extremely pleased with the both the process and the finished product. Burak and Alejandro listened, explained, and completed a high quality renovation on time and on budget. I will certainly reach out to VA Kitchen & Bath for future remodeling jobs.

Our goal was to enlarge the master bathroom and master closet by eliminating the dressing room area. After meeting with designer, Leon, at our home, he presented a very creative layout in a CAD rendering. His design exactly met our goal. Martese, the project manager, was very engaged in the entire project from start to finish, usually stopping by every day to check on progress and to answer any questions. He was also very accessible by phone. The crew, headed by Anabol, was very professional and detail oriented. We are extremely happy with the quality of workmanship which included the build of a custom tile shower, install of a new double vanity, install of linen closet in the bathroom, toilet, plumbing, lighting, wood flooring in the master bedroom closet, drywall, and painting. The custom shower glass for the custom shower was provided by additional VKB crew, and they did an outstanding job as well.

After getting estimates from other places, I chose Virginia Kitchen and Bath (VKB) for my master bath remodel. They completed the project in 10 business days as promised. The project manager always kept me updated on what was happening and when materials would be delivered and installed. The crew was very professional, arriving on time and at the end of each day cleaning up after themselves. Burak was the project manager and he helped me with many of the details I was unsure about. If this is your first time doing a home renovation project, Virginia Kitchen and Bath is the best place to start. Even though there estimate was higher than the other places I got, the quality of materials and the professionalism of the staff and crew gave me the confidence to feel good about taking on future renovation projects. I will be looking at VKB when I am ready to update my galley kitchen and 2nd bathroom in the near future. I am very happy with how it turned out!

I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Virginia Kitchen and Bath (VKB). I chose the company to remodel my kitchen, master bath, and powder room after reading glowing reviews about their work on Angie’s List. Leon Zajdel is the Senior Designer and was my first contact with the company. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and patient throughout the design phase of the process. He listened to the changes I wanted to make and offered suggestions based on his years of design experience. In addition, he offered guidance with product selection which was very helpful. One of the things I appreciated most about Leon’s style is that he simplified the design process. He didn’t overwhelm me with extraneous information which would have made the process very confusing for a novice. I credit Leon with making one of the most important parts of the project less intimidating and much more enjoyable. The site supervisor for the project was Martese Thomas. He was instrumental in implementing the designs that Leon created. Martese is a true subject matter expert in the construction field. From a construction perspective, he used his creative skills to further refine the design plans which made invaluable improvements to the kitchen and master bath. Martese is all about making the customer happy. Customer satisfaction is his #1 priority which he demonstrated on a daily basis and during every phase of the project. He worked tirelessly and went above and beyond to ensure that every last detail was perfect. There is no question that Martese is highly accomplished in his field. He is also conscientious, diligent, reliable and trustworthy. He is the consummate professional. It was a pleasure to work with him on this project. The company is very fortunate to have such a dedicated employee who takes pride in his work and delivers an unsurpassed level of customer service. The construction crew was outstanding. They were polite, talented, very hard working, and arrived on time every day. They successfully completed the entire project one week ahead of schedule. The owner of the company was always accessible during the project, easy to work with and professional. One final, but important note about the project........The company honored the contract that Leon created. There were no overrun costs associated with the project. The only additional charges were those I chose to incur based on changes I made during the construction phase of the project i.e. upgraded material and plumbing relocation. My new kitchen, master bath, and powder room look AMAZING!! A sincere "THANK YOU!!!" to all of the hard-working employees who invested so much time and effort to make my remodeling dreams come true. The employees of VKB represent the very best in workmanship and customer service! I highly recommend VKB and will use them for future projects.

The project started approximately 4 weeks after the design was complete and the contract signed, which is what they said would happen. Dale did a great job listening, making suggestions, as well as changes before we signed the contract. The project manager, Martese, was extremely responsive, accommodating, and a real pleasure to work with throughout the project. For example, they started a week in advance of their proposed start date, which was based on the arrival of the vanity, to accomodate my travel schedule. There was one small glitch with the vanity that was immediately addressed by Martese (and doesn't every remodeling project have one?). Otherwise, the effort went smoothly and was done in a professional manner. Anabal, the onsite lead, was also top notch and very friendly, as was the rest of the team. The team was also good about cleaning up every day and being respectful of me when I happened to be home when they were working. I could not be more pleased with the final product. Those who have seen my new master bathroom have echoed my sentiments--it is beautiful. I had waited years to take on this project, and I'm so glad that I found VK&B. I would definitely recommend them and use them again in the future. Thanks VK&B for a job well done.
Description of Work: VK&B came in and worked with me on a design, which ultimately gutted and expanded my current master bath. This entailed moving plumbing for the shower to the opposite wall and moving the toilet. I ordered everything (tile, shower doors, toilet, vanity with granite counter top, etc) from VK&B. They were easy to work with and when I wanted to upgrade the vanity, they did so at a discount. They did everything from soup-to-nuts, which made my life much easier.

This was a full remodeling job. Soup to nuts. From the initial visit by Leon to the final design, Leon provided lots of helpful suggestions while still listening to our needs and wants. After the design was finalized, Kemal (owner) pointed us to several places for granite selection and tile / backsplash selection. The job was promised to be complete in 5 weeks from start and Kemal delivered exactly on time, even a few days before. His crew foreman, Andy, is the best! He took a lot of pride in his work and wanted the best job possible. He ensured the major installation etc was done right including right down to the finest detail. Kemal and Andy were quite flexible with our needs. If anything was skipped in the initial design or the specs, Kemal was more than happy to accommodate our needs. Some of the examples of the wonderful work and attention to detail includes: Leveling the tile transition with the wooden floor to the next room without any thresholds; seamless granite; installation of a 24 x 24 kitchen medallion that needed painstaking work; perfect installation of granite/ cabinets. They were very responsive to any revisions/ small changes to the needs. I would whole heartedly recommend Kemal and Virginia Kitchen and Bath to any kind of remodeling. Crew is very professional, experts and courteous, punctual, hard working and the best I have seen.

Loud and messy work but they were careful to protect existing finishes to and from the work area. Javier did all the work and he is very particular about doing a good job. We were very impressed. Tara was very helpful throughout with selections and design. Burak was very attentive to our satisfaction and kept us well-informed of project details and schedule. We solicited several proposals. VKB was not the least expensive but we had the most confidence in them especially after we visited their showroom. The work was accomplished on the schedule promised with no surprises. I would highly recommend this same VKB team to others.
Description of Work: Demolished existing master bath (tub/shower) back to drywall. Installed new shower-only enclosure using Nu-Travertine throughout, including kneewall, bench, and frameless glass enclosure. Reinstalled toilet, vanity and fixtures with new vanity top and bowl. Relocated shower controls and created rear access panel in adjacent closet. Painted using owner provided paint. Removed existing sink in guest bathroom and installed new vanity and sink. We are extremely pleased with our new kitchen! We wanted to open up the kitchen to the living area so we could enjoy the space more. We met with a designer who answered our questions and came up with a plan that was exactly what we had in mind. He also suggested a few touches that really add a lot of style. The remodel took a few weeks; it was a lot of work and they did an excellent job! Anytime there was a slight glitch (there's bound to be a few) our project manager responded VERY QUICKLY which was wonderful! A big thank you to Yunus, Javier, Dale, and everyone who helped make our kitchen beautiful!

We are very satisfied with the services we received from VA Kitchen and Bath, and the projects were competitively priced for the quality of materials involved. The master bath project was a complete "facelift" done to improve the house for resale. After demolition of existing surface materials and fixtures, including a jacuzzi tub, ceramic tile on the floor and tub platform, large double vanity and wall mirror, lighting fixtures and faucet sets, the shower enclosure and wallboard, and the subflooring, the company installed carrera marble wall and floor tile in the shower and on the tub platform, a frameless shower enclosure, a soaking tub, new porcelain floor tile, a large new vanity with quartzite counter top and two undermount sinks, new faucets and fixtures for the tub, shower, and sinks, new wall mirrors, towel bars, an exhaust fan, and baseboards. They also painted the walls, linen closet, and woodwork. The bath project was completed in about a month, as expected. The kitchen project entailed removal of a kitchen island, granite countertops, sink and faucet, and then installation of a new kitchen island - including a new gas downdraft cooktop (purchased separately by us), granite countertops - including an enlarged counter in one area that required special support, glass tile backsplash, new double sink, and new faucet. It also included installation of LED light strips in several locations of the kitchen. The kitchen project was completed in about three weeks. The fireplace work entailed removing marble wall tiles that were part of the trim on a peninsula fireplace and then installing granite pieces in place of the tiles. (The granite pieces were fabricated by Pyramid Granite.) The fireplace work was done in parts over a few days, due to the necessary work process. All of the VA K&B personnel with whom we had contact were highly competent. Designer Tara Walters was very helpful in suggesting options for materials and fixtures, including how to maximize the functionality of the new kitchen island. Project manager Burak was very responsive - even when we dashed off an evening or weekend email about something. When there was a minor glitch here and there, he was quick to ensure that the matter was resolved to our complete satisfaction. The work crew, led by the talented Oscar, was conscientious, skilled, and unfailingly pleasant to interact with. They used plastic curtaining to contain project dust and dirt and were careful to clean-up the work area (as much as possible) at the end of each day. VA Kitchen and Bath did use a granite fabricator to do the vanity countertop and kitchen counters, and had a subcontractor do the frameless shower enclosure, but coordination with these other workmen was done smoothly and the quality of all of the workmanship was satisfactory. Both the bath and kitchen projects came out looking great - and the fireplace granite trim looks good, too! Virginia Kitchen and Bath is the first company we will call for any future project needs. We highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We hired Virginia Kitchen and Bath for a full master bath renovation and a partial kitchen renovation, and also had them install new granite trim on a fireplace.

Andy and his team did excellent work. He was prompt, courteous, and professional. The work quality was excellent. I am thrilled with my new kitchen. Overall, the job was completed in 3 weeks which was acceptable -- and more than enough time to be without a kitchen. They worked weekends to stay on schedule. As a consumer, be sure to know what you want and express which design decisions you'll be making up front. It will help the process go more smoothly from a pricing and expectations standpoint.

We are thrilled with our renovated bathrooms from Virginia Kitchen and Bath! We asked Leon to help us plan our project, which involved replacing a shower in our basement bathroom and completely remodeling our two upstairs bathrooms. Since we wanted to stay within our budget for the renovations, we were very pleased that Leon helped us make wise choices that kept our costs to what we expected. The floor and wall tiles, granite countertops, and cabinets that he helped us select are very attractive. Our project manager was Yunus, and our workmen were Edison and Edgar. Yunus was very responsive to all our emails and questions, and he made sure that the lights and medicine cabinets ordered from another supplier came in on time. He stopped by almost every day to check on how things were going. Edison and Edgar are marvelous craftsmen. Our new tiled shower and bath and floors were beautifully installed, the ceiling and wall painting was well done, and we are extremely happy with the finished look of each room. Although having workmen in your house for two or three weeks is always going to be a bit disruptive, Edison and Edgar were very careful to be considerate of us and to keep the noise and dust to a minimum. They put down drop cloths wherever they were working and cleaned up at the end of each day. Someone from Virginia Kitchens came to pick up the trash every day or two, so it was never a problem. In spite of two snow events, the project was finished on time! Thank you to all the staff at Virginia Kitchen and Bath!

I contacted them and they came out and looked at the kitchen and answered my questions. I decided and went to see them the end of July. We signed a contract in August. They started the end of October. They were on schedule and they did it in three weeks. I was real happy with them. I love the cabinets. The salesman was great. The three men crew that came in to do the kitchen were very nice and professional. They did a lot. I'm real happy with the work that they did, moving things around so that I could still have access to the refrigerator and everything. They did a phenomenal job. Their three men crew was here everyday. They were very pleasant and professional. They were just great. I have no complaints. I would refer them again to anybody. In fact, I have referred them to a friend of mine that wants to do some minor updates like a kitchen countertop or whatever in her kitchen. I have a friend who has some bathroom work. I've referred her to them as well to get an estimate. I do plan on living here at least another five or six years. So, I'm going to enjoy it. They did a wonderful job. I'm very happy with it. The cabinets are great. They were like, "Well, you've got two years guarantee on this. So if there's any issues at all, you just give us a call and we'll be right here." I haven't had any problems and I don't expect any. The tile guy was great. I have wood floors in the rest of the house. Doing the threshold, they did it thin so you're not tripping over it, going to the kitchen on the tile floor. They gave it a more open concept. So, I was very happy with them.
Description of Work: I had my kitchen remodeled. They did the tile flooring. They had to dig up the old tile and put down new tile floor, cabinets, countertops and backsplash. They had to close an opening in one wall and take down another wall. They put in a door for pantry. I had them put in recess lighting, under cabinet lighting, run a water line for the refrigerator. They did the painting.

We had an 11th hour need to quickly finish a bathroom remodeling project that my husband had started (but not finished...) a few years ago. My husband had completed the demo, and a little of the tile work. I contacted a few companies and Virginia Kitchen and Bath was able to support us on this unique project. Tara was wonderful in helping me finalize the design and pick out the vanity and fixtures. Burak and his crew were very professional and accommodated some changes to the tiles, and dealt very well with the challenge of working around the crews who were installing new siding on our home at the same time. We have cats and dogs and the crews were very careful not to let he cats out and were very friendly with our dog. They cleaned up well after the project was done. There were a few minor workmanship issues ( like a hole in the grout, the sink faucet coming loose shortly after installation, and forgetting to install the towel rack in the shower) but overall I was happy with my experience.

I contacted Virginia Kitchen and Bath in November of 2015 to get a quote for a bathroom remodeling project. Tara (one of their designers) and Burak (project manager) were able to come to my home in DC that same week to provide a quote. They were very nice, professional, and able to provide some insight as to what could be done with the limited space. I stopped in the showroom a few days later and Tara had computer designs ready to present and we discussed details. The quote they provided, we felt, was very fair (considering typical DC prices.) They were flexible in allowing us to go to different places to select tiles and upgraded fixtures (which bumped up the price considerably) but it made the end-product that much more special. They were able to start quickly after signing the contact (within a few weeks!!) The crew did a good job sealing off the rest of the house from the demo area and did a decent job cleaning up after themselves. The majority of the project was completed in about three weeks which I thought was exceptional. The final product is well done and looks great! The only hiccups occurred when we ordered special tiles and fixtures and the crew didn't know where they were supposed to go. So perhaps the communication between the project manager and the crew could have been better. On the up-side, they had no problem quickly correcting any mistakes that were made. Also, the entire staff was very flexible (even towards the end) when we wanted to change or add something to the project. Overall, I am very pleased with the results and would likely use this company again.

There were a few minor items that needed to be corrected after they were finished, but they came back promptly and took care of them. The DC blizzard occurred in the middle of this project, but they only missed one day. We used VK&B for prior bathroom and powder room remodels, and would use them again.
Description of Work: Demo'd and remodeled a bathroom. New tub, tile, plumbing, vanity, toilet, mirror, fan and light fixture. Removed all old items, replaced wallboard behind tub, and subfloor, with cement board, installed all new items, did wallboard repair, and painted. Bathroom looks great.

Showroom was nice but had limited palette. Job took 5 months to complete. Work area was not vented or screened off from living area and I was not counseled to cover my stuff, so it was covered with a lot of dust which I had to clean up. I was not often accurately informed when workers would be present or not present. Many times I was told to expect them and no one would come. Project manager made sure to make all fixes prior to collecting final payment. I have not recently hired a contractor for anything similar, so this might be an average experience.

Dear Client, We appreciate your honest review. This will help us improve in our customer service thus providing a better experience. I would like to provide other Angie's List members with some information that may be useful toward your comments on certain issues. We started your project on September 23rd and finished on proposed date of contract. However; one of the bathroom vanity's drawer came with missing parts. One of the bathroom tile bullnose was installed with a chip. These are the two reason that delayed our company to complete the project. Though, both of the bathrooms were still in functional state. It would not be an issue for it to be used. We understand that these complications can be frustrating on your end but unfortunately there are some situations that arise and are not in the control of our hands. When this happens we make sure to fix and solve the matter at a timely manner and making it the most effective for our clients as well. As I've stated at the beginning, we greatly appreciate your honest feedback and will make sure to improve in our imperfections. Regards Virginia Kitchen and Bath Team.

The construction lasted three weeks from the time they gutted the bathroom to the time the bathroom was put back together. At the end of the three weeks the glass needed to be ordered for the shower. The glass was custom made for the shower and was 82" high. The glass was installed on a Saturday which was very convenient for my work schedule. The original granite counter top had a scratch in it. The granite team came out and tried to repair the scratch but they were not able to make it completely go away. Virginia Kitchen and Bath completely replaced the counter top with a brand new one. The crew worked Monday through Saturday and had a key to my house. They cleaned up every day! They worked until about 6:00 p.m. every evening.
Description of Work: The master bathroom was completely remodeled. The shower was enlarged and we added a stand along tub.

The master bath was a dated, dark room that did not use the space well and the ventilation was poor. Dale came to our home to help come up with design ideas--and tell us what was in the world of possible and what would cost a lot. Essentially we wanted to tear everything out, incorporate closet space into the bathroom, build a large walk in shower with glass walls, and add windows. Dale provided excellent guidance and sat with us for many hours as we discussed options and design materials. He was very helpful with what was possible in regards to plumbing and other logistical issues. The more complex part of this project was adding the windows to our dutch style roof. Kamal found an outside company (Mr. Kim) to complete the Fairfax county permit requirements, provide drawings that met Fairfax county code (I wanted larger windows and the space did not allow for this) and had someone at our house during the inspections (both my husband and I work full time). The windows provided much needed light to the space. Alejandro was in charge of the entire demo and design installation for the entire project, which grew to include changing all the doors in the master suite to match the bathroom, painting the master bedroom and installing crown molding (again to match the bathroom). I can not sing Alejandro's praises enough. He is creative, flexible and wonderful to work with. His team cleaned up after themselves every night and clearly took pride in their work. He would wait each day for us to return home to go over what he had done that day and ask for our wishes on placement of lights, facets, shower pipes, door frames --his work for the next day. He offered suggestions we had not thought of and offered an honest opinion when needed. He also installed a ladder/door to the attic in a new location (not in the bathroom) and climbed up in the attic to install extra insulation without complaint. Almost any request received a positive response. He was an absolute delight to work with. Yunus our project manager was responsive to text messages and questions. Overall we are completely thrilled with the end result.
Description of Work: Virginia Kitchen and Bath remodeled two bathrooms in our home. We started with the upstairs shared bathroom to see how things went and were very happy with the end result (and they finished ahead of schedule) we hired them to remodel our master bathroom which is what this review will focus on.
