The job was never completed. He never informed me what materials could be purchased or when he could start the job.

Scope of project Our 4 bedoom, 3.5 bath home in South Run Oaks subdivision was built in 1986. It was greatly in need of a complete 1st floor remodel?all floors, walls, entire kitchen,the ½ bath, etc. We got multiple remodeling quotes from home remodeling contractors recommended on Houzz, Angies List and from neighbors and friends. I found Mike on Angies List. I checked Mike?s credentials, checked his license, checked with his references, and called the Better Business Bureau. I then compared bids from about five contractors and asked them to be specific about materials and dates for the entire remodel. We chose Mike as our home remodeling contractor based on his experience and friendliness. He competed for our job and came to our home multiple times with quotes and CAD renderings on his laptop.. We also visited his showroom. Timeliness and cost Mike and his crews did work on time and on budget. The 1st floor remodel cost us exactly what Mike estimated. Plus Mike threw in upgraded kitchen cabinets and upgraded wood floors at no additional cost to us. Design and build contract Mike obtained all necessary permits and recommended many low-cost improvements to us that we never thought of. Mike tested and went over the remodeling at completion of the project to ensure everything is working properly and we were happy with all improvements. Final evaluation The remodel Mike did is exquisite to say the least. Our neighborhood realtor Marion Gordon come in to see the remodel when it was done and she was totally blown away with the quality of materials and the design--- Mike gave us the open concept living room-kitchen-dining room look by knocking out walls and giving the feeling of a huge living space.. Now we will enjoy improved comfort, beautiful living space, reduced maintenance and energy savings for the life of our home. Retention and future work We would recommend Mike to everyone getting any remodeling?kitchen or bath or anything. We plan on remodeling our upstairs floor bedrooms and 2 baths next year and will use Mike.

It was great! From start to finish...amazing. I worked with tons of contractors before on my last house and The Model Home Look is the real deal. I liked how they prepped their work space and sealed up all areas that were not being worked on. They were very clean and did not wear shoes on the carpet. We did a full bathroom remodel. So essentially everything is new in the bathroom including part of the walls. When we ran into a problem (that was caused by the builder of the home), the team calmly explained the options and price point of how to rectify it. Very friendly and professional. I'm in LOVE with our new bathroom, it's exactly what I wanted and I love that they were able to finish the remodel in less than 2 weeks total - on schedule! We are using then again in the future. Mike was terrific to work with. My kitchen had challenges -- it is small, 3 sides have doors and the 4th a window so options appeared limited. I explained what I was looking for and was clear up front that I was using this deal to get a plan and an approximate cost so that I could begin budgeting and setting aside money for a remodel but that no work would be happening any time soon. Some people might not have given their best or would have just done a quick job knowing that there was no remodel work at the end of it but Mike was not one of those people! He was easy to work with, asked me questions about how the family used the space, what I wanted from a new kitchen, so that he could provide plans that incorporated what I needed, solved problems that I had with the current layout, and would be functional for my family. The final product involved reconfiguring part of the kitchen and I am pleased to have the plans as a point from which I can plan for a new kitchen in the future. Mike stated that he could not give me a good estimate for the cost because much depended upon my preferences for flooring, cabinets, etc. I went out to the showroom to see examples. There was plenty to choose from and he and his assistants were very helpful in explaining the differences in wood types, stains v paint, etc. so that I could make informed choices. In the end, I got a ball park estimate that will be really helpful to me in saving up for a remodel (plus I know that prices change but a base point was needed). I was very pleased with the service. I am glad that I got to keep the plans and now have some idea of what the kitchen will look like. I would work with Mike and his crew again.

It went well and Mike has been very responsive regarding providing various drawings as we have requested.

When he arrived, he introduced himself and gave me a quick synopsis of what he was going to do. After he took the measurements of the kitchen and dining room area we sat down at the kitchen counter and configured my to-be kitchen. He was very pleasant and professional. My granddaughter liked him as well! He gave me an estimate of when I could expect the completed renderings by email and we parted ways. I was very impressed by his willingness to work with me no matter how many changes I made or asked him to make. I would definitely use him again and am planning to get the first cost estimate from his company to do the work because I was so impressed by him!

Mike had to adjust his scheduled appointment, but was constantly in contact with us letting us know of his delays. Once he got to the house he was extremely professional and got right to the job. He provided the new designs within 24 hours of his visit.

I am so pleased and excited about my kitchen renovation. Mr. Mike Ford came to my house and spent an hour and a half patiently answering questions and walking me through the whole process. The proposed designs he provided are fantastic and I feel so much more knowledgeable about what I can do with my existing space. I can't wait to get out to his company's showroom to start picking out materials.

It went okay. On June 24, 2015, after he listened to my ideas, he integrated his ideas as well. We talked about the plan and moved things around. Then I wanted to try another plan without as much structural change (cost concern). I sensed he was reluctant as he deeply sighed. However, he did rework the design. At the conclusion of our hour, I asked how to get a copy of the 2 designs we did. He told me he would email them to me. I waited 2 1/2 weeks to receive the email and finally called the office. The plans were sent July 13, 2015. I could not open them because of a Google Docs challenge on my end. Still not sure how to remedy it and finally be able to open the plans he and I created. I really like the designs but as of now I'm still unable to access them.

The Model Home Look provided a quality product (design, including drawings and specs, and cost proposal), and the owner and staff were very pleasant to work with. The cost proposal for the remodeling work was quite high, and we ended up using another contractor to do the work.

Same as above. I would give him an A- if I could. He missed our first appointment and was more than a little late for the second one.

Mike and his crew were excellent to work with and worked diligently to meet our tight schedule. We needed our job completed before our Christmas guests arrived. The work was professionally performed, met all our high expectations, and was completed on time. This is the second time with have used The Model Home Look for a major project and we couldn't be happier. We wanted to renovate one of our bathrooms just before Christmas and found The Model Home Look on Angie?s List. Within minutes we had an appointment with Mike Ford, the owner, who provided us with a very rapid and personal service. After discussing our needs, Mike prepared a 3-D diagram of the proposed renovations, which made it easy to visualize the changes and make decisions. We met later in the day to order the materials, were given a fair price for the work to be done, and within a week, the project was underway . Despite the busy time of year , Mike promised to have the bathroom functional by Christmas, which was done. In fact, the entire project was completed by Christmas, with the exception of two minor elements that were completed after the holidays. Once the demolition was complete, Mike proposed a few changes that improved the overall project. Mike?s employees were all friendly, competent and very efficient. We would like to mention that although all employees worked effectively and efficiently , the electricians did a particularly good job. Given that our house is quite old and electrical wiring was done in in different eras, they were faced with a number of unexpected developments and problems, all of which were dealt wit in a very systematic and professional manner. The renovation was a success and we attribute this success to having selected Mike Ford and his team of professionals .

Mike and his team were great and did a fantastic job. I met with Mike several times to go over the renderings he completed based on my needs and his recommendations. I was walked through the process and provided with a quote that met my budget. The products he chooses and the crews he has working for him are of high caliber. Friends and neighbors continue to rave about my kitchen and bathroom. I love what they've done and would absolutely hire them for future projects.

Mike Ford and his crew have been a delight with whom to work. The crew shows up on time, works feverishly all day, shows up on the weekends to get the challenging work accomplished on or ahead of schedule. Mike's expert advice in preparing our townhome for resale extraordinarily valuable--we don't necessarily expect to recoup all of our remodeling investment in a higher sales price, but we do have reasonable expectations that the townhouse will outshine its competitors at equal or lower price points. Mike steered us away from several expensive projects that would not have added curb appeal or made the townhouse more attractive to buyers, and got us to invest in improvements that will expand the market for our townhome in Alexandria's West End within a mile of the BRAC 133 building. I strongly recommend The Model Home Look for design/build/remodeling services for homeowners simply interested in modernizing their home as well as those interested in preparing their home for resale. The team has great ideas, excellent sources of materials, and terrific skills in executing Mike's creative and enticing plans.

The vendor showed a considerable understanding for our requirements and the limitations of our budget, worked with us on selecting the items to be purchased, showing us the range of varieties for each item and advising us about the cost implications for each selection to help us selecting cost effective items that meet our requirements and add to the great final product we got. The vendor interacted with us all the item keeping us up to date upon ordering the selected items. He kept us abreast of the various steps involved in the doing the job ensuring our satisfaction every step of the way. As new issues surfaced the vendor discussed with us the alternative ways of dealing with each and helped us selecting the best way that complete the effort within budget.

The renderings Mike does are absolutely wonderful. Mike definitely knows how to design a kitchen, better than anyone else we spoke with. We had a wonderful talk on the phone today and Mike made me feel really good about continuing work with him. Mike is coming over next weekend to finalize things with my wife and me. Mike is a great guy and does excellent work. Nonetheless, he went on vacation (on a cruise) while the project was ongoing and left me hanging. His assistant had no clue about the project. He did not actively monitor his programs and charged high fees for items. For example he charged me 200 dollars for a 50 dollar mirror, upon noticing this, charges were then taken off. I was quoted a price that ended up being charged a different price. I hand to constantly push to make sure all the items were done. The model home look does not monitor their project to the extent that my door knobs where changed and they installed a bathroom without a toilet holder. I called them and they never responded..., I guess that?s because, in trust I paid them what I owed them before they finished the Job. Please consider and make sure to communicate completely with Mike before you sign up.

He was very professional and on-time. We went with a different company for the work.

Design suggestions were excellent. Timing and cost to do work require us to postpone making any changes until summer.
