The Model Home Look

Mike was very professional and up front with all his advice. While I do not know if we will go with his company (we are still researching all options), I was very impressed with what he had to offer. My only slightly negative comment is that he appeared to favor pulling out everything and starting anew, when I wanted to keep as much as possible and just rework what I already have to save costs. From our discussion, that may be unrealistic on my part, so it may be more of an adjustment to my thinking as opposed to a negative on Mike's part! In general, I was very pleased with the consultation, and would highly recommend The Model Home Look to my neighbors and coworkers.

Mr. Ford is a pleasure to deal with and always professional. He has good design ideas.

Mike, the owner, showed up promptly on time at my home and introduced himself. Once inside, we told him what we wanted for the bathroom then we left him alone to do his thing. After about 45 minutes, he met with me and my wife and showed on his computer detailed color pictures of what our redesigned bathroom would look like -- they were great. The images were from multiple perspectives, giving a very good representation of what the end result would look like. He listened to our questions and thoughts and made a few tweaks to the images (the program he used was really impressive and quick). We were reassured that what we hoped to accomplish was doable. Mike told us that his company custom builds the cabinetry they use should we decide to go with The Model Home for the remodel project. He answered all of our questions about next steps should we want to use him but wasn't in any way pushy about it. He had the confidence of a skilled craftsman who knew what he was doing. He was a pleasure to work with.

Mike Ford provided an excellent plan, which coincided with my need for a remodel of our kitchen. I proposed some changes, which Mike agreed to incorporate, even though my request might be beyond the scope of the service I paid for. Mike came to our house, looked at our two spaces for work, and gave us a full design consultaiton including pictures, drawings, etc. He was extremely helpful and honest about what he could do and about his prices. Seemed like a great company to do high quality work, but their prices were just a bit too high for us at this point. Would definitely look to them for work in the future if/when our needs change.

A really fantastic experience: - The Model Home Look worked with my schedule to meet on the day and time of my request - spent time to understand our goals and objectives for this renovation - measured and graphed the space to show what would work and why - helped me understand how the original builder laid out the space (and where some was wasted) I can't ask for better service! highly recommended!!

I used the service because it had a coupon for $99, and I knew I would need to remodel an apartment kitchen when my tenant left. Mike came by at the time agreed and spent about 45 minutes in the space, and then sent the designs to me by dropbox. While he was there, we talked through options. It was a small kitchen with very few options, but Mike had some great ideas for what could be done. He was able to determine that one wall wasn't load bearing and could easily be removed to accommodate more space for the kitchen, and he even gave me options for heating the (unheated) apartment (which at this point requires baseboard heaters). So, I got a lot more than kitchen designs. I am pretty sure when I do remodel I'll use them. I have confidence they'll do a good job.

Everything went well, and I was very pleased with the experience. The gentleman arrived on time, answered all of my questions, and didn't try to push anything. Furthermore, he tried to find cost-effective solutions for the design which I appreciated.

From planning to project completion, we have nothing but praise for Mike Ford and The Model Home Look. Mike listened carefully to our desires, explained the process and materials in detail, and provided a plan that addressed everything we had envisioned. He kept us informed as the work progressed and willingly made changes when we asked for them. We were impressed with the professionalism of the entire team. Our complete satisfaction was their goal. The end result was even better than we imagined!

Mike spent close to two hours with us taking measurements of the bathroom we wish to remodel and then sitting down with us to explore possibilities to satisfy our quest for something different. He listened to our ideas and desires and focused on satisfying those through both layout and product selection. He had on his laptop computer software that provides not only floor plan layout possibilities but also renderings to give the customers, us in this case, a far better rendering of the design concepts. These we modified on the fly several times before arriving at an initial design concept. We scheduled a follow up meeting with Mike at his Chantilly, VA showroom to go further into the design and to get first-hand looks at some of the products that might fulfill our remodeling objectives. Well worth the time, effort and minimal cost for the consultation. Highly recommended company!

Mike was punctual to the minute, and very professional in what he did for us. He was up to date on the newer code requirements, checked our breaker box to make sure we could accommodate what we want to do, measured the bathroom and then had us sit with him at his computer while we "moved" the bathroom fixtures around to create a design we liked. He worked WITH us, listening to our suggestions as well as offering his own. His company specializes in customized work so he said we could bring him a picture of something we liked and he could replicate it. His service was to design the plan for us, which is ours to keep. He talked about jobs he had done and showed us pictures of different bathrooms but at no time did we feel any pressure to engage him to do the work. He knows his trade and demonstrated the flexibility to work with us and within our budget.

I was thrilled with the ideas Mike Ford had as well as the ideas he came up with while incorporating my thoughts. My kitchen provides a very real challenge on a design level due to size constraints. Mike continued to work different scenarios with me for 1.5 hours. That is a lot of time for a first meeting. He is genuinely a good person with whom to work. Since this was a first meeting we are not at the point to discuss cost. So I cannot address that in this review. I do hope that it is reasonable enough so that we can hire him. At which point I can review that part.

My experience with him was good. I had some questions that he couldn’t answer. It wasn’t his fault. It was just that they weren’t quite within the scope of what he was doing. He did a good job as a good vendor. I was not that the service was exactly what I wanted it to be. The price was certainly fair.

I've not had a chance to use this Big Deal yet. However, he's been great - really hanging in there with me until I can get with him for the design.

They didn’t give any new ideas in what they proposed and it was basically a footnote of what we already had. They drew exactly what we exactly had in place. It was basically a portrait of what we physically had in our kitchen. They were going to provide fresh ideas for the renovation of our kitchen. He admitted that what we already had was probably best that he can recommend. His honesty that he couldn’t do any better than we had done stands out about him. I would tell friends and family that if they didn’t have a clue in terms of what they wanted a firm like this will be helpful but in our case we designed and built our own home. The price is fair. Our expectation was that they were going to give innovative ideas.

It was a poor experience. They came out and looked at the job and then they sent me one rendition which was not able to be downloaded. So they sent me another one but the dimensions were incorrect. Things weren’t supposed to be so it was really of no use to me. He came out and he did give me a picture but that's about it. For what he did, it was a reasonable price. It took him a long time to get out there. I called 3 or 4 times.

Mike was good to work with though we ultimately went with another company to do the actual construction work.

The overall services provided were mediocre at best - we had asked for real options and creativity, but all we got was essentially a stock "floorplan" that we could have done with any off-the-shelf software. The person who did the work was nice, but definitely did not provide any level of creative thought or in-depth options around how to redesign our kitchen. We had to pull out magazines to show him what we were thinking of and his response was "oh, yeah, that could work", but he didn't really seem like he understood what we were wanting from them.

Our experience with them has been fine. We had some delays. We had the estimate done last summer but we just had the guy back. The work is scheduled to start in March. So far we are very satisfied with the process. The representative of the company has been very helpful. The price range for the work that is anticipated is fine.

Mike is very nice guy and drew up a plan for me. However, the plans he created were not what I was looking for for my master bathroom. He did draw up a second set of plans but they still did not reflect my vision for the bathroom. I feel that my money was basically wasted on this Big Deal.

Fantastic! We initially chose to work with Mike and his team because of their very friendly, flexible and professional approach and their ideas for our bathroom renovation. We were on a very tight schedule and they said "we will make it work". Indeed they did, and they remained very responsive and flexible throughout the process and made it work according to our schedule and our budget. Gilmer, the team leader on the project every day was amazing; always professional, attentive and responsive to our needs and preferences. Our new bathroom looks great, we would highly recommend The Model Home Look for any renovation project!

Big Deal "coupon" purchased in June or July for kitchen remodel design workup. 1st appointment scheduled for late August. Appointment not kept because service provider forgot. Appointment rescheduled for late September. Appointment kept with measurements taken and remodeling wants and ideas discussed. Design workups promised in a few days; service provider to contact us. No contact after approx. 2 weeks. I followed up. Not ready. I traveled for 3 weeks, returned and followed up in early November. Invited to showroom with promise to review remodel design workup. At showroom, service provider could not find our folder with measurements nor design workup on computer. Service provider returned to our home to remeasure and promised design workup within a couple of days. Have not heard from him since.

1. Contractor: Most importantly Mike Ford of The Model Home Look is someone you trust, and is an easy person with whom to work. Down-to- earth, a good listener, patient, and follows through. His first response is always a concern with what we as the clients want, and what will make us happy. Mike is almost always able to respond quickly to telephone calls, and usually gets back to you within an hour. So there's always someone there when all the big and little project questions come up. He can provide experienced advice on options one has in bathroom remodeling. The project price came in on target, and we consider it reasonable for the excellent results we got. 2. Crew: The crew chief is excellent, and the members of the work crew are professionally expert and pleasant people with whom to deal. They turn up when they say they will, work steadily and really hard to get the job done, are careful to avoid collateral damage, and clean up well after themselves each day. 3. Results: We got exactly what we wanted and it's a real pleasure to enjoy our new facilities.
