The Davey Tree Expert Company

The company is like- 100years old. They are an excellent company. They are very competitive and top-notch. They always come to the door and you tell their job and they do their job.

They were excellent! They were careful not to damage anybody's property and were just very conscientious. The price was comparable. I had 3 prices and they were in the middle.

It went well. I've been using Davey's Tree for a long time. They're reliable. They do come when they say but sometimes it takes a while to get them here.

They've done work for me before. I knew what they did. They're arborists and they do a good job. They know the trees and they trimmed them up based on the type that they are. The price I thought was fair for this area. They came when they said they were going to come.

It went fine. We have been happy with them every time we have used them. They had a good price and were professional about it. They were on time, came when they said they would and gave quotes. I don't always find that with a lot of these tree guys so we like having a company we can go to. As I recall we liked their price.

They do a good job. They were actually here today.

They are real good. We have used them several times. The only problem I have with them is they don't call you before they show up. They just pop into the driveway, but outside of that. You don't know they are here until they are here, but as far as their work is concerned, as far their price everything has been excellent. The only complaint to the office is they does a poor job about calling and telling you the day before they are going to be here in the morning, but outside of that they are very good because we have had number of trees, we have had to have work done on. They are lot better than any of the other companies we have tried for trees. We have tried a number of them. My only concern is their office doesn't pick up the phone and call you to do that final communication. I would definitely recommend them. We have had a big oak tree that died. We have had several die over the years and that was latest one and they were behind their crane broke down so they finally sort of buck the truck down here and got it out of here. The guy who does the stump comes separately at a different date. I had several stumps and I had never done the stumps before so I had him all done at once and I think they did like six or eight something like that. It looks much nicer. I am glad I did it. Taking this big oak tree down and doing the stumps as well it was all one price and I was very pleased with it. They normally are cheaper if they do the crane, but he didn't charge me extra he said it was their fault the crane broke down. I have been patient and waited on him and he said sorry we are going to get down with the bucket truck we are going to get you taken care of. I don't pay extra as the bucket truck cost more as it involes lot of people. They were very polite about it.

They were very good. I've used them for a number of years and I have regular service schedule with them. I've used them for over ten years. I just renewed my contract with them. They have certified arbors that I dealt with for a number of years. We've used them for our church for major service also.

We called several companies to remove some the7 foot thorny hedges around our back yard as well as grind down an old stump in the front yard of our new home. From our initial appointment with Steve, they were always punctual and professional. What made Davey such a good choice was their flexibility. We did not want the shrubs removed too soon before the fence was installed and that needed permitting and custom manufacturing. Once we were ready, Davey worked with our schedule to minimize the impact for us and the neighbors. Prompt, efficient and courteous.

The service turned out very well. I was very unhappy with TruGreen who was doing it in the past. Even though Davey is a little bit more expensive, I am happier with them because they know what they are doing. The cost of their service varies depending on what they do. They have people that know what they are doing. They have arborists on the staffs who know about trees and bushes. I actually recommended them to my daughter-in-law and son and they hired them for their grass. I would use them again in the future because I have a contract with them.

Called previous week and set up a appointment at my house for a Monday, 11 to 3PM. Even sent them a follow up EMail over the weekend with my cell phone number because we were having trouble with our land line. They never showed up and left no phone messages or Email. Life's too short, I am moving on to a different company.

It's great. We've used them for years. It went very well.

They did fine. I have used them for years. They are reliable. They came out, did the work and left. I have not had any problems.

Stay far away from these guys. I had heard good things from my neighbor about this company so I got a quote from them and a few others. In the end they weren't the cheapest quote but I went with them anyway primarily because they included the removal of some overgrowth from my yard. First communications is not their forte. Scheduling the work was a pain because the two people I was dealing with were apparently on vacation at the same time and their out of office messages were outdated (one of them was a year before). I figured it must be a fluke so I went ahead and had them do the work. On the day the work was to be done I stayed home from work in case there were any questions/problems. The guys went to work on the trees and actually did a good job trimming/thinning two large trees. They then moved to the back yard and cut down 2 trees. Finally they starting clearing the overgrowth and this is where things went bad. The crew seemingly decided that the growth along the edges of the slope they were doing weren't worth worying about. They also ignored a 3 foot and 5 foot "stump". After they decided they were done I asked about the unfinished work but they didn't seem interested in completing it and left. I then sent an email to the person handling my job (Derek McDaniels) about the unfinished work. He acknowledged (via email) it wasn't finished and said they would send someone out to cut down/haul away the stumps. Fast forward 2 weeks - the stumps are still there but I'm getting billed for the full price. I explain on the bill that I was not paying for a portion of the work as it was not completed (one half of the quoted amount for that portion of the job). A couple weeks later I get a letter from their corporate office stating I owe money. I call and again explain the work wasn't done and thus am not paying for that portion. A couple weeks after that I get another letter from corporate about the bill --- plus I get a letter from a creditor saying I owe them money. Again I call and explain the situation; explained I have an email from the company saying the work wasn't finished and that I have spoken to them before about this. So here we sit - an unfinished job (as acknowledged by the company) but the bill has been sent to collections. Do NOT use Davey Tree Expert Company. There are a lot of better, more responsive, and frankly more honest service providers in this field.

They came highly recommended to us from the previous owners and we've used them and have not been disappointed. They did a good job.

I am pleased with the results

I just renewed my annual contract with them. This would be our second 4 years of service with them. I hired them mostly for the lawn service, but they have also done tree pruning. I really haven't had any issue with them either. They have been very courteous, prompt and punctual. They don't do much of the lawn service during the winter. I gave them follow on business because I was happy with their lawn service. The fact that they are the mostly a tree company and they do lawn service as well. I thought they would do a pretty good job and they did. The lawn service was $78. They are always very professional. They barely need me to be here; so if I am not at home, it doesn't matter. They don't need me to answer any question. If the guys do have a question, they reach out to me on a cell phone or things like that. My lawn has done 200% improvement from the previous year. My lawn was bone dry, weed infested to green thick grass except the draught, when I am not supposed to water it. It turns brown, but there's no weed. The frustrating part is that my neighbor doesn't take the same care. One neighbor doesn't take the same care and the weed stem seemed to come back from their lawn & peep out here; but Davey comes out and do the treatment for me. It is just a part of the service. They come and reapply the fertilizer or weed killer if need be.

It was a very good experience. They arrived when they said they would. They gave me an estimate. I have had them do tree work several times to trim trees. They do not go door to door to get business. The company gets business through referrals and advertising. They are insured and their rates are reasonable. Their prices for removing trees is cheaper than some.

My husband contacted the Company to help with trimming a pine tree we have in our yard. The company never showed up to provided us with the service. However, several months later we received a bill from services.

They did an excellent job. Showed up on time. completed the job in 90 minutes. This is the second time I have used them.

I called to get an estimate and Derek came out within 2 days. He came when I was available so we could walk the property and he would know exactly what work we wanted done. After spending about 45 minutes with me he went to his truck and about 20 minutes later presented me with a detailed estimate and drawing. I got 3 other estimates and Davey was very competitive. No pressure to agree to work then but he said to sign if we agreed and fax it back to him. Of all the companies I dealt with Derek and the men who performed the actual work were the most courteous and professional by far. The first scheduled date was weathered out but Derek scheduled us first thing on the future day we chose. The crew that did the work arrived on time and the crew leader rang our bell and introduced himself and went over the work they were going to do. The entire yard was cleaned up pefectly. No debris or leaves were left anywhere. When they were finished the crew chief rang the bell to have me inspect the work before they left. I would definitely use this company again.

Terrible. I have used this company (and location) for the past three or four years and had great experiences but not this time. I called and asked for a quote and was told that someone would come by my house the following Monday and leave a quote at the door. That didn't happen. So I called back and was told the manager would call me back. That didn't happen. So I called back again and was put into the manager's voicemail box and left a message but never got a return call. I called back again after that and was e-mailed a quote (never having talked to the manager or receiving any apology for the failure to get back to me). The quote was a single dollar amount for trimming the bushes and the tree when I had initially asked that it be broken out so the bushes were an optional line item. I was then told by one of their employees that she had to talk to the manager but I never received anything more. So I am moving on to another company.

They were great. We got a good price. We priced it with another company and they did the work for almost for half that price.

Lisa, the woman who answered the phone told us that there was a 6 to 8 week delay for estimates, that the estimator only comes to Alexandria 2 days a week and that he would only call us the night before whatever date he chose to confirm it. Yes, that's right, you're supposed to call them and then some two months later someone will call you and say, "surprise, we'll be there tomorrow at such and such a time." Nooooo thanks!

After my initial phone call, I had an estimate in my door the next day and work was performed two days later. We had a white oak that had been uprooted and was hung up in a neighbors tree threatening to take down a sun room along with three sections of various fences. The crew arrived right on time and without a hitch took the tree to the ground. The only suggestion I would have for the company is to be able to contract the estimator, instead of leaving a voice mail in his mail box. I called several times trying to get the estimators cell phone and the office staff was unwilling to help. They almost lost the job because i needed to make a fairly quick decision and the office staff could not help me.
